The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 461: Chapter 461: A Phone Call from Aunt Cagwin_1

After that, he stopped enjoying studying and took a liking to a dummy. He stopped messing around outside and earnestly went back to school, determined to attend the same university as her.

Justin Wafford snapped back from his reverie, saw Nathalie Quinlan flipping through her phone book with a furrowed brow, and said nonchalantly, ”Nathalie, don’t worry too much. I think Freddy Cagwin isn’t the type to be unreasonable. Maybe he just didn’t have his phone on him when Old Shen called and missed the call.”

Nathalie didn’t stop, she dialed Freddy Cagwin’s phone number.

”Beep beep...”

The first call connected, it rang a few times, but no one answered.

She wasn’t discouraged and called again.

This time it went straight to voicemail; his phone was turned off.

A mechanical female voice came from her phone, ”Sorry, the user you have dialed has powered off. We will notify the person by text message later, please...”

Nathalie hung up the call, her expression growing more serious.

Justin Wafford was right beside her, and naturally saw the first call connect and the second call go to voicemail. He was also taken aback, standing frozen, muttering worriedly, ”Can’t be, right? Something didn’t really happen, did it?”

A shadow loomed over Nathalie’s heart, her slender fingertips slid back and forth across the screen, contemplating whether or not to send a message to Aunt Cagwin to ask about it.

Her phone suddenly lit up.

It was Aunt Cagwin’s call.

Nathalie’s brows started to pound.

A nasty suspicion spread through her heart.

She stepped to the corner of the corridor and picked up Aunt Cagwin’s call, her voice hoarse, ”Hello, Auntie.”

”Nathalie, are you in McKinney?” Aunt Cagwin’s voice sounded very anxious, obviously at her wit’s end, ”Freddy’s gone missing.”

Nathalie already had an inkling, but upon hearing her say it, her heart still sank. She tapped her phone with bent fingers, reining in the fierceness in her eyes, and spoke more calmly, ”Don’t panic, take your time and tell me, how did Freddy go missing?”

Aunt Cagwin probably relayed the situation.

Actually, there wasn’t much to it: the night before last, as Freddy was helping her at the stall, the thugs who had visited their stall before came again. To prevent them from causing trouble, Freddy left with them, telling her he was just going to chat with some friends and would be right back. But when she went home after closing the stall, Freddy hadn’t returned.

Later she tried contacting Freddy, and he kept telling her not to worry and that he would be back soon.

It was only just now when she called Freddy’s number, and his phone was off, that she panicked.

In McKinney, they didn’t know anyone except Cindy Lawrence, and Nathalie, who has always been mature and composed beyond her years. Oftentimes, she relied on Nathalie as a pillar of support, so whenever something happened, her first reaction was to tell Nathalie.

It wasn’t exactly that she needed Nathalie’s help to solve anything, but when people are in a state of panic, they always seek a mainstay; otherwise, the anxiety only worsens.

At this moment, Aunt Cagwin was very agitated. With her husband lying in a hospital bed for years, and now her son suddenly missing, anyone would struggle to stay calm. In her fluster, she asked Nathalie, ”Nathalie, Freddy hasn’t gone off to mess with those people again, has he?”

Freddy had a history of trouble, ditching his studies to mix with society.

If it weren’t for Nathalie pulling him back, he would still be fighting his way through society.

Aunt Cagwin’s first suspicion was that he had reverted to his old ways, thinking again of not studying properly, wanting to take the wrong path.

But Nathalie, without even thinking, replied to her, ”No, he told me he would get into a good university.”

”Then he...”

Aunt Cagwin was confused and agitated, her mind a messy pulp unable to figure out where Freddy had gone.
