The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Found Freddy Cagwin!_1

Of course, Jeff Quinlan hadn’t placed all his hopes on the police station. He had also reached out to the business and social connections he had made, sending them Freddy Cagwin’s description and photo, asking them to help search for him as well.

After he had contacted all the possible connections, both in the underworld and legitimate society, and made phone calls, he put away his phone and turned back to Aunt Cagwin, consoling her in a deep voice, ”Aunt Cagwin, don’t worry too much about Freddy. As long as he’s still in McKinney, this method should eventually find him.”

Aunt Cagwin had called him purely out of desperation, not really expecting anything. To her surprise, Jeff Quinlan had not only shown up but also sincerely helped her search for her nephew.

Caught off-guard on how to thank him, her education limited and unskilled in flattery, she could only offer a simple, dry thank you. ”Mr. Quinlan, thank you.”

”Really, thank you.” Her throat felt dry as she clutched her clothes, standing on tiptoe, stammering, ”Once we find Freddy, I... I’ll treat you to a meal.”

Jeff Quinlan glanced down at her unease, knowing even without her saying that the meal she referred to wasn’t at a roadside stall, but rather at the upscale restaurants he frequented, places where a meal cost at least ten thousand yuan.

For him, ten thousand yuan wasn’t much, but for Aunt Cagwin, who rose early and worked late at her stall, putting her child through school and taking care of a patient at home, it was an immense sum.

In the past, he might not have had any empathy, and he probably would have even looked down on her offer, considering he was someone many people wanted to treat. He wouldn’t want to waste his time on someone from the lower echelons of society like Aunt Cagwin.

Now...

He seemed to understand Aunt Cagwin’s feelings differently.

Jeff Quinlan sighed with her and simply said, ”No need to treat me to a meal. Freddy’s still studying and has to go to college in the future. And with Old Cagwin being in that condition, the whole family relies on you. It’s not easy for you. I’ll help if I can, but I’m not sure if we’ll be able to find him smoothly.”

”Mr. Quinlan, I’m already very grateful that you’re willing to help. This should have been my issue; I shouldn’t have troubled you, but just...”

Jeff Quinlan knew what she wanted to say and interrupted her, comforting her with a serious look in his eyes, ”I heard that since Freddy went back to school, he’s been performing well, ranking within the top five in his class. With his grades, he’ll definitely go to college. Don’t think too much; he’s probably just out with friends, lost track of time, and his phone might have just run out of battery.”

Aunt Cagwin nodded, her anxiety significantly alleviated.

While they were anxiously waiting, Jeff Quinlan’s phone rang.

He glanced at the incoming caller ID and said to Aunt Cagwin, ”It’s a phone call from the police station. They must have news about Freddy.”

Aunt Cagwin’s eyes suddenly lit up, her hands tightly clasping the seams of her trousers, her back tense as she looked towards his phone.

Jeff Quinlan answered the call and considerately turned on the speakerphone, his voice slightly hoarse as he said to the person on the other end, ”Hello, Mr. Vinson.”

Static crackled over the phone, and after a few seconds, a voice responded, ”Mr. Quinlan, I’ve found the Freddy Cagwin you asked me to search for.”

Indeed, there was news about Freddy. The excitement was nearly impossible for Aunt Cagwin to contain, almost blurting out, asking where he was.

Jeff Quinlan asked before she did, his voice grave, ”Thank you, Mr. Vinson. Where is he now? I’ll drive over to pick him up.”

He had already taken out his car keys, but the response from the other end brought an unexpected revelation.

”Freddy is at the police station!”
