The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 494: Chapter 494: I’m Waiting for Regret_1

Juan Wilmar was efficient and decisive; in a blink of an eye, he had already made a phone call, instructing the cancellation of Nathalie Quinlan’s enrollment. Upon hearing the news, he snorted with a disdainful laugh, ”Alright, I’ll wait to see just how much regret I’ll have.”

He wanted to see if a tiny ant could really shake an elephant as he had said! Simon Cadwell, standing there, didn’t even understand how ludicrous it was!

In a secluded quadrangle in Beijing, Mr. Yancey was pruning flowers, with the president of Tsinghua University standing beside him.

At the moment, his face was brimming with joy as he spoke of the recent joint examination, ”In the many years that I’ve managed Tsinghua, I’ve never come across such a gifted student. This time’s questions were set to the standards of mathematical Olympiads. I originally thought that if a student could score above 600, it would be quite impressive. I did not expect a perfect score.”

”Tsk, there are quite a few students with potential this round. There’s a girl named Ghania Quinlan who also comes from McKinney, Music Department. Even an art student scored 588—such a pity Mr. Norton didn’t take her...”

He took a sip of his tea, his face showing a hint of regret as he said, ”If Mr. Norton had also taken a student this time, then the students of this Tsinghua class would have been truly fortunate!”

”Didn’t Mr. Avalon come out of retirement to take an apprentice?” Giordano Yancey was indifferent as he raised an eyebrow. His gaze was sharp; with a swift motion, he snipped off a wayward flower branch.

He was dressed in a suit, his physique lean and without an ounce of excess fat, his back ramrod straight, exuding vitality through and through.

”Mr. Avalon hasn’t taken an apprentice for almost ten years. He used to teach classes at Tsinghua for a few years, but he has retired from the public eye more recently, hardly ever visiting Tsinghua. His willingness to come out of retirement this time shows that he truly was moved.”

As he spoke of this, the president of Tsinghua couldn’t help the smile spreading across his face, expressing his heartfelt admiration, ”Indeed, only such a genius with a perfect score could move Mr. Avalon. It’s a pity she chose to study Chinese Medicine; her scores could have got her into a better program. Though, being under Mr. Avalon’s tutelage could be a good choice...”

He was in the midst of saying this when his eyes gleamed cunningly, and he proposed, ”Right, Mr. Yancey, you haven’t seen Nathalie Quinlan’s score yet, have you? I have obtained her examination registration number. The background system can pull up her test papers and scores. Would you like to see?”

Giordano Yancey was somewhat tempted.

He actually also wanted to meet Nathalie Quinlan.

His family’s darling Edric kept posting messages in the group chat—today his sister bought him a gift, tomorrow his sister took him to the mall... The Yancey Family group was quickly becoming his little playground of bragging, always sister this, sister that—there was never a word about anyone else.

But that rascal at home just wouldn’t arrange for them to meet. At his age, and being an elder, it wouldn’t be right to shamelessly impose for a meal, would it?

Unable to meet in person, it seemed like a good idea to look at her grades.

With that thought, he put down his scissors and said with evident interest, ”Why not? I’ll take a look.”

The president of Tsinghua knew he would be interested and had specifically brought a tablet with him. When he heard that Giordano was agreeable, he immediately took out the tablet to log into the archives system and tried to pull up Nathalie Quinlan’s file. However, after several attempts, the system showed that it was unsuccessful.

This left the president of Tsinghua a bit annoyed, ”What’s going on? Why can’t I pull up Nathalie Quinlan’s file? It was possible just a few days ago.”

He looked at the elder, eagerly saying, ”Mr. Yancey, please wait a moment. I’ll make a phone call to find out what’s happening. It might be a system glitch.”

Giordano Yancey, initially quite excited, felt as though a bucket of cold water had been poured on him; however, his mood was still good. He hummed in agreement, allowing him to make the call.
