Chapter 285: Chapter 288: Scald You to Death, You Bastard

Chapter 288: That’ll Teach You, You Bastard

”What’s so bad about it? You do your work, and I’ll sit here. I won’t bother you. And I have a dinner engagement tonight. Since you’ll be free after work anyway, you might as well come with me.”

This guy was obviously feigning ignorance and stupidity. To have climbed to the position of a department head, even if he was not particularly slick, he was certainly more so than the average person. Seeing that Zhang Xixi was about to show him the door, he didn’t panic and quickly changed the topic, engaging Zhang Xixi in a war of attrition.

Not all techniques to hit on girls rely on throwing money at them.

At the very least, it was necessary to use some brains. Wu E was sneering inwardly: Play the fool for now, and invite you out tonight to get you drunk. Then, how could I fail to get you?

For him, these unwritten rules of the workplace were not something to hide. Even the most reserved woman couldn’t resist temptation. As long as it was something they needed, he’d satisfy it all. That’s why Huaxia had such a problem with mistresses.

”I’m sorry, Director Wu, but tonight I have...”

Zhang Xixi hadn’t finished speaking when Wu E interrupted with a gentle smile, ”What’s so important that it can’t wait a while? Does accompanying me to an evening function not count as official business? Besides, I happen to be the Finance Director of the company. As long as you perform well, I, Wu E, will certainly make sure you’re not left out of the benefits, haha...” Director Wu laughed.

”This...” Zhang Xixi was clearly unable to take it anymore, but due to work obligations and her inherently quiet and gentle nature, the words still ended up stuck in her throat.

”Xixi, you know, to live a bit better than others, relying solely on oneself doesn’t cut it. You’re aware, Tianyu Group is so large, and without a man to back you, it’s very easy to be taken advantage of. Whether it’s in life or in the workplace, climbing up can be very hard. So, I hope besides being diligent and responsible at work, you’ll also consider your own situation. With your standards, living better than others should be quite simple.” Saying this, Director Wu patted Zhang Xixi’s tender shoulder with an authoritative air, causing her to instinctively shrink away a bit, her eyes mixed with confusion and a touch of fear.

”Director Wu, what you’re saying is so true, and it certainly has a ring to it, hitting deep in my heart. With society’s pressures being so immense these days, it’s quite hard to turn things around without some background or backing.”

”Who are you?”

Just as Director Wu was feeding Zhang Xixi his crap, suddenly a voice broke the silence of the office.

When she saw who it was, Zhang Xixi’s eyes lit up, but they soon dimmed again, as the meaning behind Lin Zifeng’s words seemed to flatter that surnamed Wu.

Director Wu was also taken aback, as he had been busy feeding Zhang Xixi his crap, only for someone to appear in the office as quietly as a cat, which was somewhat surprising.

”Oh, Director Wu, my name’s Lin Zifeng, assistant to the head of the finance department, which is to say, I’m under Director Zhang. In the future, I’ll have to rely on Director Wu to look after any good or dirty jobs,” he said, eagerly extending his hand to grab Director Wu’s, looking up to him excitedly as if they were old friends, not shy in the slightest.

”Lin Zifeng?” Director Wu wracked his brain but couldn’t recall this person. Squinting with a puzzled face, he said, ”Who are you? How come I’ve never seen you before?”

”Heh heh, Director Wu, you are busy with important things. How could you spare a glance for a low-level staff member like me? Before I joined, I had heard that the finance department had a crucial head. Seeing you today, I can tell you really are as wise and exceptional as they say, and it’s truly exciting for me.”

Initially, Director Wu was enjoying the flattery, but on reflection, he felt something was off about the way this bastard was praising him.

Just as he was raising his head, not yet finished enjoying his flattery, Lin Zifeng’s grip on his hand started to strengthen, his whole demeanor appeared extremely excited, almost like a fanatical fan, gripping Director Wu’s hand firmly as he squeezed.

Minister Wu was in so much pain that he nearly shed tears, but seeing Lin Zifeng ceaselessly flattering, like an overenthusiastic fan upon meeting an idol, he, Fat Wu, only managed to nod with a strained smile. In his heart, though, he wished he could slap Lin Zifeng to death.

”I don’t even know you; what are you so excited about?” But because Zhang Xixi was present, even if Lin Zifeng crushed his hand bones, Fat Wu would likely have to swallow his teeth in agony, as this guy, despite being older, still cared a lot about his face in front of women.

”Let, let me go, let go of me now!”

Being gripped by Lin Zifeng like this, Fat Wu finally couldn’t bear it any longer. If he continued to let Lin Zifeng squeeze, heaven knows if the bastard would actually crush his palm.

”Oh, I’m so sorry, Minister Wu, I was just too excited and lost control for a moment. I hope you can be magnanimous and forgive me.” Speaking, he hurried over to the water dispenser, took out a cup box, put in some tea leaves, and offered a fawning smile, ”Here, Minister Wu, please have some water.”

Wu E just frowned and glanced at him, reluctantly took the cup; his palm hadn’t recovered from Lin Zifeng’s grip, slightly moving it caused a tearing pain.

But seeing Lin Zifeng’s ingratiating look, especially the brown-nosing in front of Zhang Xixi, he didn’t hold it against him. Reluctantly accepting the cup of tea from Lin Zifeng, he drank it in a huff without thinking.

Because of Lin Zifeng’s presence, Fat Wu didn’t pay attention to the trick in the cup of water and drank it directly. But just after taking a sip, Fat Wu was completely shocked, the heat almost forcing his entire tongue out.

”Wow, ah! Hot! So hot!”

Fat Wu almost threw the cup out because it was so scalding.

”Hot?”

”I’m so sorry; that’s my fault. Let me get you a cup of cold water,” Lin Zifeng said, taking the cup from Fat Wu’s hand and pouring another for him.

Since his tongue was burnt from the previous cup, Fat Wu seized the cup from Lin Zifeng’s hand and gulped it down eagerly.

”Ugh ah! Are you f*cking trying to scald me to death?!”

The water Fat Wu drank sprayed out immediately; his entire mouth was so burned it nearly swelled up, his face mournful, wishing he could charge forward and kill him.

”Still hot? Impossible, Minister Wu, I clearly poured you cold water. How could it be hot?” Lin Zifeng inwardly sneered coldly, determined to scald this bastard to death today for sexually harassing a subordinate.

Seeing Fat Wu’s tongue burnt so severely that it stuck out like a frenzied person, his plump, red face swollen, Zhang Xixi couldn’t help but burst into laughter at her desk.

”You motherf*cker, which color water did you pour me just now? Are you trying to scald me alive?”

At this moment, Fat Wu had completely lost his temper from being scalded. He ran to the water dispenser and discovered that both the ’hot’ and ’cold’ taps were dispensing boiling water! Instantly, his entire head buzzed as if it exploded.

Turning back to look at Lin Zifeng, he found the guy with an innocent expression, as if he knew nothing at all.
