Chapter 285: Restaurant Turmoil

No matter from which angle, Mu Yang had undeniably all the prideful assets, from looks to body shape, and even family background. Where did she fall short compared to others?

But somehow, Lin Zifeng just wasn’t that into her. How could this not make her feel upset?

Over these past few days, Mu Yang had refrained from frequenting the security department. By now, everyone had come to believe there was something between them, but that damned man was clearly just avoiding her.

Yesterday, he had promised to have dinner at Mu Yang’s place, yet she had waited in vain for hours, until past one in the deep of the night, without catching a glimpse of him. Today, however, she bumped into him having a jolly time with another woman. Anyone would have lost their temper, let alone Mu Yang.

When mentioning Lin Zifeng had a wife, Mu Yang didn’t forget to raise her voice a few decibels. These words were clearly intended for Zheng Xiaofang and others to hear; it was also the excuse Lin Zifeng had always used to brush off Mu Yang. That made her very angry. You already have a wife, so why are you out here messing around with employees from the company? It seems you are not such a good person after all.

”Excuse me, I’m full and need to step away for a moment,”

Under the impact of Mu Yang’s powerful aura, Zheng Xiaofang quickly pulled Song Wei, lowered her head, blushed, and hurriedly left the scene. After all, Mu Yang was a senior IT manager at the company, nearly on par with the finance department’s Director Zhang in terms of position. Who would dare to offend her? Moreover, it was said that this woman had an immensely powerful background. In the entire company, except for Nangong Bing himself, no one else, hmm, barely paid her any heed.

”Hey, hey, hey! Don’t rush off, stay and finish your meal,” Lin Zifeng really wanted to stop them but only made a gesture, after all, with Mu Yang present, making it uncomfortable for them could have been awkward.

Watching them leave swiftly, Lin Zifeng lost his mood and, with a slouch, started to devour the food on the table wolfishly.

Mu Yang still maintained a smiling demeanor, glanced around at the fervent gazes cast her way, but she didn’t mind, sitting opposite Lin Zifeng just doing her own thing, with a feigned smile she said, ”Don’t you have anything you want to say to me? Maybe you should find some excuses to flatter me, who knows, I might just soften my heart and believe you for a moment.”

Looking at Lin Zifeng, who was burying his head in his meal across her, Mu Yang confidently thought that him burying his head in his meal was just him trying to think up some deceitful tricks, which was fine. If this guy was to butter her up a bit and speak nicely, she might actually soften her heart and forgive him, but that would require an apology from him and a promise that such a situation would never happen again...

As the newly-appointed IT department head of Tianyu Group, she naturally had a supreme sense of superiority, with her confidence far exceeding her wildest imaginings. Added to the fact that she was brought up with everything handed to her, living a life where everything went her way, this princess temperament was naturally cultivated, always assuming that Earth should revolve around her.

Unexpectedly for Mu Yang, Lin Zifeng continued to bury his head in his cheap meal, completely not listening to anything Mu Yang was saying, outright ignoring her existence.

Looking at his cold, mature face, he wore a radiant, gentle smile. However, she always felt like his dark eyes hid some secrets unknown to others, giving a deep, ancient feeling.

”What did you say?”

Lin Zifeng slowly raised his head, displaying a somewhat resigned smile.

”What are you saying? Don’t you already know in your heart? Tell me, where did you go messing around last night?” Mu Yang crossed her arms, her brows slightly furrowed, her spirited, glossy face briefly showing a hint of feigned anger as she stared at Lin Zifeng with eyes full of skepticism and accusation.

”Messing around?” Lin Zifeng raised an eyebrow indifferently, casually pulled out a napkin, gently wiped the grease from his lips, and said with a wry smile, ”Supervisor Mu, isn’t that a bit overbearing? Our relationship isn’t that close yet, is it?”

”What do you mean by that?” Mu Yang blushed, not sure if it was from anger at Lin Zifeng’s remark. She glared at him intently, her tone lightening as she said, ”And that thing you promised me yesterday, were you just stringing me along?”

After finishing his meal, Lin Zifeng just smiled. His relationship with Mu Yang wasn’t as complicated as she thought. Lin Zifeng had always avoided personal emotional entanglements, but now it seemed as though he was indeed involved with her.

Slowly pulling a cigarette from his pocket, Lin Zifeng leaned back slightly, suppressed his head, and exhaled a deep puff of smoke, then chuckled, ”Supervisor Mu, you can’t be unreasonable. Yesterday, I only said I’d see how things went, I didn’t promise I’d definitely go. Besides, I really had urgent matters last night, I honestly couldn’t make it. After all, having dinner with a beautiful lady like Supervisor Mu is a dream for many men — do you think I’d be blind enough to pass that up?”

”Is everything you said true?”

After hearing Lin Zifeng’s overly dramatic explanation, Mu Yang’s expression softened somewhat, but then her expression changed abruptly, she groaned softly, ”Then why didn’t you give me a heads-up in advance? Do you know I waited for you at home for a very long time last night? You act as if nothing happened today. Don’t you think that’s extremely unfair?”

Looking at Mu Yang’s extraordinary, impeccably beautiful face, Lin Zifeng flicked the cigarette ash, slightly stunned. Could this girl actually have feelings for me? Did she really wait for me all night at home?

Impossible. As a slacker security guard like me with nothing to offer, how could she possibly be interested in me?

Could it be because of loneliness and the need for someone to warm her bed?

Damn! She really picked the right person then. I’ve got nothing much, but I’m good in that department...

If Mu Yang had the mind reading technique at this moment, she’d probably have slapped him, tossed the cold water from the table in his face, and cursed him as a beast.

It’s not surprising that Lin Zifeng would think this way. After all, Mu Yang was nearly twenty-seven or twenty-eight, still without a boyfriend, commuting alone. At her age, not to mention her mental maturity, her physical needs must be considered.

After all, once a woman hits over twenty-five, that’s when her desires are at their peak, naturally feeling a bit empty at night.

Especially someone like Mu Yang, a commercial elite with both wealth and beauty in her favor, not only capable but also very attractive.

There were plenty of men chasing her normally. Probably just pulling any man from that crowd would be better than Lin Zifeng

Not choosing them, but choosing me — isn’t she clearly just toying with me? I can’t handle this.
