Chapter 270: Release Your Claws

The only solution at the moment was to pass by Lin Zifeng and then quickly return to her own room to change out of her pajamas, but Lin, wrapped in a towel around his lower body, was spreading his legs wide as if he had just come out of surgery at the hospital, stepping towards the stairs and even occasionally turning back to taunt her.

This made Nangong Bing’s heart twist even more. It was now or never; she decided to go all out!

Nangong Bing resolved to thicken her skin and calm her demeanor. Even if she walked past him and he taunted her, she had to remain fearless and face the situation head-on.

However, as soon as she moved, Nangong Bing’s face became somewhat dry. Her pajamas were just too clumsy. Although they weren’t heavy, they weren’t easy to move in, making her sway as she walked. Going upstairs was fine, but descending the stairs was far more troublesome.

No choice, she steeled herself, clenched her teeth, and constantly kept her eyes on Lin Zifeng. If this guy dared to turn back, she would strangle him in an instant.

But all of this happened in a flash. While Nangong Bing was watching Lin Zifeng to prevent him from turning back, due to the clumsiness of her pajamas and a moment of inattention, she slipped and with a graceful posture, tumbled down the stairs.

”Ah...!”

The piercing scream Nangong Bing let out was chilling. She curled up in her pajamas, thankful for the air conditioning that saved her from overheating in the stifling heat of the day.

As Nangong Bing fell, Lin Zifeng, who was slowly walking, suddenly perked up his ears, swiftly turned around, and before he could react, saw Nangong Bing, already losing her balance, plunging headfirst down. Although the stairs were wooden, falling headlong like this could cause any number of dangerous situations.

”Uh oh...!”

Lin Zifeng was nearly scared out of his wits. Instinctively, he extended his arms to embrace Nangong Bing’s delicate body. He initially intended to just steady her by grabbing her slim waist, but unfortunately had to ensure his towel remained in place. Amidst the rush, his so-called Demon Claws betrayed him.

Suddenly, her heart pounded violently and her expression dimmed. Just like that, Nangong Bing’s body tilted and she plunged toward Lin Zifeng, who, amidst the hastiness, had dropped his towel to the floor. He raised his hands in a peculiar Wulong Claw pose, trying to catch the swiftly-descending Nangong Bing.

The two of them stared at each other, silent and gaze locked.

It’s over; it’s really over. I might as well pack up and leave. I had planned for many things, but never expected such a ludicrous event to unfold tonight!

Lin Zifeng secretly wiped off a cold sweat, unable to believe that such a dramatic scenario, something often seen in TV dramas and novels he considered too fake and merely entertainment, was now happening to him in real life.

And Nangong Bing, under his Wulong Claw, was utterly stunned. She felt a buzzing in her head, standing as still as a statue in his clutches.

”Dammit! Let me go!”

Suddenly, Nangong Bing’s sharp, exasperated voice echoed right before Lin Zifeng.

Startled by the sudden shout, Lin Zifeng quickly uttered a soft ’oh’ and relaxed his grip. But as soon as he did, the problem arose; without his support, Nangong Bing instantly fell like a Fallen Angel toward Lin Zifeng.

The fall was significant, resulting in both of them catching each other off guard. In that moment of the fall, they both wore complex expressions, imagining what consequences might follow, thinking of a myriad of potential outcomes, but reality ultimately prevailed.

She had thought she would detest the scent on his body, but unexpectedly, she began to enjoy it. Her heart raced, blood circulation quickened, and her breathing became uncontrollably rapid. She wanted to struggle, but found her body unresponsive, weak as if she had consumed a sedative.

Though Nangong Bing was strong-minded and more rational than most women, she had never been this physically close to a man in her life, certainly not this intimately.

Previously, anyone who tried to take advantage of her would be expertly rebuffed by the shrewd Nangong Bing, like picking a fishbone. But today’s scene unfolded like a cheesy soap opera, as clichéd as it gets.

Although Nangong Bing’s tactics in the business world were formidable, leaking no secrets, anyone aiming for even a sliver of advantage over her was almost harder than killing her. The business world was like a battlefield, relentless and unforgiving.

But in the realm of love, Nangong Bing was practically clueless. All her life, she had no understanding of love or feelings.

Some say flirting is an unspoken form of romance. Some believe love is the thrill one feels at first sight.

For someone as coldly stunning as Nangong Bing, who treated romantic feelings as blandly as plain water, she had no inkling of these concepts, nor had she ever encountered the kind of man others spoke of.

In her real life, the men she met, though some were flattering and eager to please, none were sophisticated or genuinely interested in anything beyond her beauty.

But now, Lin Zifeng, the insignificant security guard whom Nangong Bing never took seriously, suddenly evoked a heart-throbbing sensation within her. This feeling was fascinating and bizarre, like a little girl fearing a scolding after doing something wrong, or like she had inadvertently spilled a secret after sneaking a forbidden fruit. It was weird and wonderful.
