Chapter 263: Chapter 266 Angry Nangong Bing

Chapter 266: The Wrath of Nangong Bing

That night, Lin Zifeng stayed outside for a long time, because he began to harbor an unsettling premonition. He had a feeling that there was something strange about his parents’ disappearance. Coupled with the mysterious visitor that evening, he suspected that things were definitely not as simple as he had imagined. After considering everything Li Lin had said, Lin Zifeng’s doubts only grew. Could it be that they were looking for me?

In his memory, his father and mother were honest farmers; they couldn’t possibly have any dealings with these people. Could it be that they already knew I had returned?

Thinking of this, Lin Zifeng’s gaze grew colder.

He had been back in his own country for only a month and had kept a low profile. Could they have guessed where he was? Two years had passed, and according to Lin Zifeng’s reasoning, it was impossible for them to know he had returned.

At this thought, a rare, sinister smile flickered across Lin Zifeng’s indifferent expression....

Gazing at the starry sky, Lin Zifeng’s eyes were as deep as the sea, and his mind was brewing plans. The time would come, and he could no longer avoid it....

When Lin Zifeng returned home, it was already late at night.

He had promised to meet Mu Yang this evening; it looked like he was going to be in trouble again tomorrow.

Just as he was about to open the door, he tiptoed in, trying not to make even the slightest noise that might disturb Nangong Bing’s rest.

However, as soon as he sneaked in, he found Nangong Bing dressed in cartoon pajamas, her long, dark hair cascading down, hands on her hips, looking at him as if he were an idiot, while he tiptoed with his head bowed like a thief.

Instantly, Lin Zifeng’s facial expression stiffened.

His body tensed up, and seeing that he had been exposed, he changed his expression to a grin and said, ”President, you haven’t gone to sleep yet? It’s so late—are you waiting for me?”

Nangong Bing, already displeased on the sofa, nearly slapped him upon hearing Lin Zifeng’s remark.

So me not sleeping makes it a reason for waiting for you to come back? Do I, Nangong Bing, seem so cheap that I’ve got ’wife waiting for her husband’ syndrome?

Nangong Bing, her face extremely displeased, stared at the embarrassed Lin Zifeng. She had originally wanted to hear his excuse for coming back late, but now he had turned it around on her.

What is even going on here?

”What were you doing out so late?”

Nangong Bing’s pretty cheeks were serene, her tone somewhat icy, not bothering to answer Lin Zifeng’s silly question, deliberately ignoring his inquiry, and simply overlooking him.

Seeing that his actions had already been exposed, Lin Zifeng felt no need to maintain his previous attitude.

”No, nothing much. I just went out to have a few drinks with some old friends, just a small gathering. After all, we haven’t seen each other for such a long time, just warming up our friendship, you know?”

Lin Zifeng straightened up and explained, then added, ”I say, President, do I have to report my whereabouts to you whenever I go out? Aren’t you being a bit too controlling? Besides, you don’t even admit to being my wife, so why bother with so much?” Lin Zifeng’s gaze became that of an innocent and harmless baby as he sneakily glanced at Nangong Bing, his tone gradually lowering.

”Lin, are you looking for a death wish? Coming back so late and still finding excuses for yourself?” Nangong Bing frowned, her arms crossed in front of her chest, her beautiful eyes feigning anger.

Under the embellishment of her small hands, her chest, which should have been set free, became even more enticing.

Today, she had planned to discuss the company’s website domain and forums with Lin Zifeng, but to her surprise, Lin Zifeng had run off early without any trace. She called the finance department several times, and each person said they hadn’t seen him. Finally, after making numerous calls to him, still, she couldn’t get through.

All night, Nangong Bing felt particularly aggrieved, both angry and annoyed. Clearly, his phone was working, but Lin Zifeng simply wouldn’t pick up!

It would have been fine if he just didn’t answer, but each time after the phone rang not even twice, he would hang up.

Do I, Nangong Bing, have to depend on your mood to make a call? Not answering once is fine, but treating my several calls like an alarm clock?

So I’m just setting alarms for you with my calls?

Lin Zifeng instantly felt aggrieved, his face drawn with an innocent expression, ”When have I ever made excuses for myself? I was merely stating the facts. After all, I have my personal freedom. I can’t possibly be at your beck and call 24/7, can I? Besides, our relationship seems to be more than just master and servant, doesn’t it? Are you really taking me for a servant?”

Lin Zifeng glanced at her a few times and then walked over to the fridge nearby. He took out a bottle of cola, opened it, and began gulping it down.

After finishing, he even belched in front of the furious Nangong Bing.

Nangong Bing was so angry she almost threw a pillow at him.

Nangong Bing had lived for quite a while and had never encountered a man so thick-skinned and fond of making excuses for himself—lacking any trace of gentlemanliness. Over the years, what man had dared to speak to her in such a way?

With just a flick of her finger, countless men would come running to heed her beck and call, vying for her favor with just a small command, not to mention making calls to them.

Yet this guy, never took himself seriously, thinking even under these circumstances with nobody around, couldn’t you at least try to act like a gentleman, for once? Would that kill you? Is it so hard to please yourself?

She even began to suspect that this guy had hopped out of a rock, such a piece of work. If she ever had a child in the future and he turned out like him, she might as well strangle him in his cradle to prevent future trouble.

If she continued to communicate with him, she feared her integrity built up over twenty-some years would be completely shattered by him. She decisively turned her head to one side, staring at her Apple computer screen, silent.

Seeing that Nangong Bing didn’t continue to belittle himself, Lin Zifeng finished his Coke, looking somewhat downcast, but still smiling, ”It’s getting late, let’s talk about anything else tomorrow. I’m going to sleep. Boss, you should rest early too.”

After he spoke, Lin Zifeng scratched his head and walked wearily toward his room.

Without the slightest hint of pity for the fairer sex, he was indifferent in the presence of such a beauty! Being a man is all well and good, but there are crucial moments, otherwise it’s just a waste of talent.

Nangong Bing’s cold eyebrows couldn’t help but furrow again. Watching Lin Zifeng’s desolate indifference disappearing before her, her eyes like autumn water, she felt like today Lin Zifeng was different.

Just one day apart and he’s changed sex or something?

Lounging on the sofa, Nangong Bing felt puzzled.

Always the center of attention, and now she had been ignored by Lin Zifeng?

Suddenly her mind spun with countless thoughts. Was it possible that he had his heart broken today? She had seen him making quite the splash in the finance department recently; he must have charmed all the girls there.

This shameless rogue! How many women had he ensnared in his lifetime? Nangong Bing was now even more convinced of her own thoughts. Remembering his tricks for wooing women, which were seamless one after another, if she hadn’t seen through him now, she might have actually fallen for his tactics.

Especially his act of being mature and melancholic, he was absolutely a killer of young girls.

A good sniper is honed through countless arrows, and likewise, a seasoned flirt is created through numerous women’s experiences.

The more she thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed.

Nangong Bing finally couldn’t suppress her curiosity and hastily headed toward Lin Zifeng’s room.

Nangong Bing, in her cartoon bear pajamas, looked like a little bunny, even with a little tail attached at the back. Walking with a bouncy step, it was quite awkward.

Lin Zifeng didn’t pay much attention before, but if he saw her now in cartoon bear pajamas, he would probably die laughing.

As Nangong Bing tiptoed lightly up the stairs, she heard rustling noises from Lin Zifeng’s room.

Immediately, Nangong Bing’s delicate eyebrows knitted in confusion. She pressed her ear against Lin Zifeng’s door, trying to listen to what that guy was doing inside.

Just then, to her surprise, Lin Zifeng suddenly opened the door!

Poor Nangong Bing was still with her ear pressed to the door, a nervous expression on her fair face, as eavesdropping was an unethical act, let alone for Nangong Bing of Tianyu Group. The idea of it being spread around was laughable.

Just as Nangong Bing’s ear was pressed against it, Lin Zifeng opened the door. Startled to see Nangong Bing’s head so close, Lin Zifeng jumped, thinking Nangong Bing must be ill, and seriously ill at that. But then he realized it was too late to hide.

Because Lin Zifeng had already taken off his upper clothes and was just about to go downstairs for a shower in his boxer shorts.

Really, did she, Nangong Bing, have this sort of habit? Enjoying eavesdropping on men’s bedroom doors?

As Nangong Bing was excitedly leaning in to listen, she felt her ear touching human skin.

Nangong Bing thought she must be imagining things, but felt a ’thump thump’ sound through this ’door,’ like a heartbeat.

Suddenly, her face colored with interest. Are today’s doors equipped with heartbeat sensors?

Nangong Bing felt something was amiss as the ’door’ thumped more against her ear. It was like a human heartbeat. Confused, she thought to herself, have I not been paying attention all year to know that domestic wooden doors have reached this level of sophistication?

Able to give a sense of a tender heartbeat?

Wow, it seems the craftsmanship here is not as bad as I thought. And this door, it’s quite comfortable to lean on—warm, soft, with a bit of temperature, like leaning against a man. Nangong Bing, somewhat dazed, reached out to touch this warm ’door.’

But when she touched its strange contour, Nangong Bing felt something was off, because why was there a small bump on this door?

Confused, Nangong Bing looked up and saw Lin Zifeng shirtless and with a look of tragic woe, as though he had just been violated by a female predator.

”Uh, bos—boss, have you felt enough?”
