Chapter 268: My Territory, My Rules

”Mr. Lin! What did you say? Don’t twist your tiny little brain trying to misconstrue me, Nangong Bing. Am I that kind of person?” Nangong Bing pressed down her head and gave him a sideways glance, clearly uncomfortable with Lin Zifeng’s frivolous remarks about her. Do I, Nangong Bing, need to play coy? Even if I were to play coy, I wouldn’t do it with you. A poor scoundrel like you, what makes you think you’re worthy of me, Nangong Bing? We’re not even grasshoppers on the same rope, not to mention having that cliché scene from novels and drama where the loser chases after the rich beauty.

”That’s not necessarily true,” Lin Zifeng said, disregarding her gaze, tilting his head to the side, and teasing her with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, ”But you just felt quite enthusiastic a moment ago, didn’t you?”

”You...!”

Nangong Bing fell silent, because she knew she had been a bit too forward, but in her defense, it wasn’t intentional. She thought she was touching...

Thinking this, Nangong Bing lost interest in explaining any further. She knew this guy might have gotten the wrong idea about her, and any more explanations would probably just make things worse.

”Sigh, explanations are just cover-ups. Why bother, boss? If you really want to touch, you can just tell me anytime. Don’t we know what kind of relationship we have?” Lin Zifeng said, winking at her, making an expression that suggested ’you know what I mean’.

”Bastard!”

Nangong Bing finally couldn’t bear his nonsense any longer and quickly threw a punch towards his chest.

But who knew that Lin Zifeng’s reactions were faster than she could ever imagine?

He captured her fair little hand, a wicked smile playing around his lips, and his other hand against the wall behind Nangong Bing. His mouth curved upward as he said, ”All evil thoughts originate from even more evil desires within. To use Buddhist terms, benefactor, you are being deluded, aren’t you?”

”Deluded my ass!” The always elegant Nangong Bing couldn’t hold back anymore and hurled a rarely seen curse at Lin Zifeng.

”Er, boss, how can you swear at someone like this?”

”Let go of my hand, bastard! Doesn’t someone like you deserve to be scolded?” Nangong Bing’s beautiful angry face turned a rare shade of crimson, and her emotional fluctuations grew as she spoke.

”Ok, I’ll let go, but from the way you’re talking, are you suggesting that I’m the one at fault here?”

Lin Zifeng found it somewhat amusing. It was you who sneaked into my room to spy on me, and now I’m the bad guy? Lin Zifeng might have said he’d let go, but his grip didn’t loosen in the slightest. He was holding on to Nangong Bing’s wrist firmly without showing any sign of releasing it.

”You’re hurting me, let go of me.”

Nangong Bing frowned and struggled.

”Oh, I’m sorry.” Realizing that his behavior was a bit excessive, Lin Zifeng quickly released Nangong Bing’s wrist and apologized.

The freed Nangong Bing moved her wrist around, her expression dissatisfied. She glared fiercely at Lin Zifeng and then cursed, ”Pervert!”

After that, she didn’t care about Lin Zifeng’s reaction and just strode off, wearing her cartoon bear pajamas, which looked incredibly cute.

She had been planning to sleep, but Lin Zifeng’s return made her forget that she was still wearing such an eye-catching set of pajamas. Wasn’t this Huahua’s usual outfit?

Why did it come down to her? Was this woman starting to adopt the innocent Lolita act? Lin Zifeng couldn’t help but remember a saying: ”You’re hanging so high? Does your mom know?”

”Hey! You haven’t explained yourself clearly, and you’re just leaving like that?”

”We have nothing more to say to each other. If there’s anything else, we can talk about it tomorrow. It’s very late, and I want to sleep.”

Nangong Bing didn’t dare stop walking and quickly headed towards her own staircase. She was afraid that the beast before her eyes would come up with some prank-like plot to embarrass her, so she decided to flee the scene first. The more significant reason was that Nangong Bing felt somewhat uneasy inside because, for all her life, she had never even touched a man’s hand. Yet today, she had used her ear to press against his chest, and even touched that embarrassingly shy part of him; how could she calm down?

She had planned to maintain her composure, run to her room under some pretense, and then vent her frustrations. But Lin Zifeng followed her in a few strides, stepped right in front of her, puffed out his chest and said seriously, ”I’m saying, Nangong Bing, it doesn’t seem right for you to just leave like this. Haven’t you told me whether you have a weird habit of spying on men or not? If you do, just admit it. It’s no big deal, at worst I won’t even close my door in the future, that’s okay, right?” Lin Zifeng chuckled.

”I! Do not!”

Nangong Bing gazed into Lin Zifeng’s eyes and answered earnestly, word by word.

Then she suddenly turned her head and added, ”Even if I did, so what? This is my house, and I have the right to manage everything here because I’m the biggest here!”

Nangong Bing was once again pushed into a corner by Lin Zifeng, and she stood with her hands on her slim waist, striking an ’I’m the boss, who do I have to be afraid of?’ pose. Lin Zifeng’s expression became weird, and with a face full of grievance, he said timidly, ”So your house is amazing? Does your house allow you to barge into people’s rooms whenever you like? Does your house allow you to spy randomly on others?”

As he spoke, he began to mutter as he moved backward.

He looked as wronged as if he had been X-ed by Nangong Bing just moments ago.

Seeing this, Nangong Bing didn’t try to explain but stood with her hands on her hips, arrogantly saying, ”My turf, my rules; that’s how confident I am. What can you do about it?”

Watching her as if she were a Queen with overpowering momentum, Lin Zifeng’s face stretched very long, and a cold sweat covered his brow. No way, you’re just showing your true colors over a little joke? Could it be that her degree from the United States was bought, or what? How come she doesn’t have any trace of being a talented student, and how is she any different from a female bandit?

It was clearly her spying on me, and now she thinks she’s in the right? Why am I, Lin Zifeng, so unlucky? To end up with such a piece of work for a landlord? I used to see her as a Goddess; little did I know, the life of a Goddess behind the scenes is beyond the imagination of us losers.

Damn, it’s such a rip-off!

If I had known she was this kind of person, I would have never come back to acknowledge this bargain of a wife. Isn’t this asking for trouble?

I didn’t get a wife, and now I’ve become her maid and lackey.

Seeing Lin Zifeng’s shocked expression as he took steps back, Nangong Bing was also confused. What was he playing at now?

And she had no idea that Lin Zifeng had already started to see her as a monster.

Nangong Bing, full of pride from birth, was baffled by his act and stopped in her tracks, puzzled. She approached and asked, ”What did you mean by what you just said? The more I listen, the more off it sounds.”

Nangong Bing thought, what does he mean ’I can just spy on others’ X in my home’? When did I spy on your X? We don’t interfere with each other’s affairs, so why does his remark sound so unpleasant?

Nangong Bing was simply recalling what Lin Zifeng had said but had forgotten about her own statement, ’I’m the master on my own turf.’
