Chapter 255 I Don’t Know Them

”Him? Brother Wu, you’re not joking with us, are you? This guy, who looks like a complete fool, has the ability to take down Fan Jian?”

Li Mingnan exchanged a glance with Wang Zhichao, somewhat disbelieving that these words had come from Wu Yong’s mouth.

Indeed, Lin Zifeng had always been someone who did not pay much attention to his appearance, and the aura he exuded was very ordinary and plain. He was the kind of person who wouldn’t even get a second glance if thrown into a crowd.

”Don’t underestimate this guy. It’s said that on his first day at the company, he had a confrontation with Fan Jian from the advertising planning department. Later, no one knows how it was handled, but Fan Jian suddenly stopped bothering him without making any noise. Not long ago, it was him, in the first-floor restaurant, who scalded Fan Jian’s entire face, leading to Fan Jian’s resignation. Now think about it—do you still find him simple?”

Wu Yong’s eyes swept over the two men with a sinister gaze. He then casually picked at the food with his chopsticks, his face a mask of calm.

”Ah! We’ve heard about this too. So Brother Wu, the guy you mentioned last time was him? No wonder you take him so seriously.”

Li Mingnan and Wang Zhichao both showed a look of shock and whispered to Wu Yong with their heads lowered.

”As long as you know, just don’t go spreading it around.”

”Brother Wu, since this kid is right here, do you want us guys to help you rough him up a bit?” Li Mingnan said with a sneer.

”No need. There’s no rush for that. We’ll wait for a few more days until Fan Jian is discharged from the hospital, then see what his attitude is like.” Wu Yong continued to eat his food quietly, showing no outward sign of concern. However, a flicker of unusual color crossed his face. He and Fan Jian were university classmates and shared a dorm room; their relationship had always been rather good. Now that such a big incident had happened to Fan Jian, how could he not be aware?

As a friend, Wu Yong did feel a bit of sympathy for Fan Jian.

After all, they had all climbed up from being college students with nothing, which hadn’t been easy. But who would have thought that Fan Jian’s achievements would be destroyed by a security guard? This made Wu Yong feel somewhat regretful.

But he only knew part of the story, not the whole. If a person doesn’t seek death, he won’t die.

Fan Jian had purely brought it on himself.

”Brother Wu, should I go and probe this kid’s background? Even if we want to teach him a lesson later, we should be sure of our move and see what kind of background he has. To be able to take down Fan Jian and to be involved with two of the company’s beauties at the same table, this kid definitely isn’t simple,” Li Mingnan said, smiling slyly.

His handsome, freeloader’s face distorted with the smile.

Wu Yong fell silent for a few seconds. Seeing Lin Zifeng casually smoking his cigarette with his legs up, he said in a deep voice, ”You two go take a look, but don’t ruin my plan! Otherwise, I definitely won’t let you two off the hook.”

With Wu Yong’s command,

Li Mingnan and Wang Zhichao had no more reservations. They had long found Lin Zifeng irritating—why should he be the only one in the company favored by the beauties, and not just one, but two at a time? Who could swallow such a grievance?

Moreover, with boss Wu supporting them, they weren’t afraid. After all, Wu Yong was not like Fan Jian, who could be described as a ’lone commander’ with no backing, whereas Wu Yong was different. Behind him was not only the support from the head of the Commerce Department, Sun Xiaonao, but it was also rumored that Sun Xiaonao had an unspeakable secret connection with the board of directors above. Such a complex chain of relationships—who could make it clear?

The two men, carrying their dishes, walked towards Lin Zifeng with smiles on their faces. In the large second-floor restaurant, two men with faces like those of delicate women indeed drew frequent sideways glances from the other men and women present.

They were simply too handsome for words.

When the two directly approached Lin Zifeng’s position, Lin Zifeng slowly raised his head and asked, ”Gentlemen, what do you want?”

”Heh, nothing much, just wanted to get to know you, bro. I saw you chatting quite happily with Mu Yang, our company’s IT department head, so I just wanted to come over and ask,” said Li Mingnan, who had both good looks and appeal. He swept Lin Zifeng up and down with a very strange look as if he didn’t find what he had imagined, and without regard to whether Lin Zifeng felt repulsion, he openly displayed a contemptuous attitude.

Meanwhile, the skinny fellow next to him also sized Lin Zifeng up briefly before casually sitting down next to him, uninvited. He draped his left hand over Lin Zifeng’s shoulder, acting as friendly as if they were old friends who hadn’t seen each other in years.

Wrapping his arm around Lin Zifeng’s broad shoulders and giving them a shake, he laughed and said, ”My name is Wang Zhichao, deputy manager of the Trading Department. And how may I address you?”

Lin Zifeng merely gave him a cool glance and said calmly, ”Sorry, but this seat is taken. Would you mind finding another place?”

With that, he shrugged his shoulders, shaking off Wang Zhichao’s arm from his own.

”You...!”

Wang Zhichao was taken aback, not expecting Lin Zifeng to be so disrespectful and shake off his arm right in front of everyone, and even bluntly tell him to find another seat.

Clearly, this was a slap in the face.

Li Mingnan was also surprised, not expecting someone with such a low position to have so much personality.

Narrowing his eyes, he leaned his handsome face—which Lin Zifeng really felt like slapping—close to his and said, ”Do you even know who we are?”

”I don’t,” Lin Zifeng replied. ”And I don’t wish to know.”

”Sorry, but this seat is already taken. I don’t want to repeat myself, so please make room for us.”

Lin Zifeng stood up, speaking with a serene expression.

”What if we refuse to move?”

Li Mingnan’s temper flared immediately. He was a man of considerable status and couldn’t believe that someone of such low stature would talk to them in this manner. His pride was pricked.

His face darkened and his tone already contained a strong hint of aggression.

The atmosphere at the scene suddenly turned cold.

”Oh? Who are you guys?”

Just as the tension among the three men escalated, Zhang Xixi and Mu Yang, both laughing and talking, walked back shoulder to shoulder, carrying plates of food. Seeing the two unfamiliar handsome guys by Lin Zifeng’s side, Mu Yang began to look puzzled.

Li Mingnan and Wang Zhichao, the two sycophants, became excited at the sudden sight of Mu Yang and Zhang Xixi’s beauty.

”Hello, I am Li Mingnan, from the Trading Department...”

”My name is Wang Zhichao, from the Trading Department...”

Both introduced themselves with great enthusiasm.

Unexpectedly, Mu Yang glanced at them indifferently and said to Lin Zifeng with a smile, ”Your friends?”

”I don’t know them.”

Lin Zifeng responded indifferently, without even glancing at them.

”You...!”

Their faces twitched, effectively ignored by Lin Zifeng.

This blatant and intangible slap to the face made them feel a burning sensation on their cheeks.
