Chapter 279: Diplomas Decide Everything

”Yeah, my cousin’s personal bodyguard, but I’ve paid him too, what about it?” Huahua, who was engrossed in playing a mobile game, asked with confusion, her demeanor a complete shift from the threatening posture she had taken with Lin Zifeng just moments before.

”Hehe,” the little demon Liu Tangtang’s eyes darted around and then, with a smug smile plastered on her face, she chuckled to Lin Zifeng, ”Hey you, Huahua and I are hungry, go make us some food.” Having said that, she showed off her skills in sycophancy by massaging Huahua’s shoulders and pounding her back, adopting a toadying attitude and wearing a fawning smile, as if her cunning plan was about to succeed.

Wha, what! Cook?

Lin Zifeng almost dropped his cigarette in shock.

What the hell is this, am I here to be your nanny or something? You guys are really bullying me too much.

We were just discussing whether you had seen each other messing around, and now, with godlike speed, you’re telling me to cook? What kind of girls are you!

I’m already outrageous enough, but now there’s another one in this villa, and she’s the kind that looks innocent on the outside but is no different from a demon at heart.

”I have to cook for you?” Lin Zifeng said, clearly displeased.

”What, is there something strange about it? Since Huahua has paid you, don’t you think it’s your duty to fulfill your responsibilities?” Liu Tangtang fluttered her innocent large eyes with a look of mock surprise, as if asking him to make a meal was akin to committing murder.

Good grief, they actually do treat me like a nanny.

Lin Zifeng truly felt the urge to crap.

In the end, he held back because he knew his vulnerabilities were already in their hands; if he didn’t follow their commands, he probably wouldn’t even know how he had died.

These days had been stressful enough, and now this new problem had arrived. Could the days ahead even be livable?

”I can’t cook, and my cooking isn’t tasty either.” Lin Zifeng spoke the truth: he had never set foot in a kitchen since he was young, and the most he could boast about was probably that undercooked fried rice he had made at home over a decade ago.

”I don’t care about that, but Huahua and I are already hungry. If you don’t have food ready within five minutes, hehe. You know what will happen.”

As she finished her sentence, the little demon Liu Tangtang gave Lin Zifeng a knowing look.

Looks like I’m being threatened again.

The morning’s performance art had probably become Liu Tangtang’s means of threatening Lin Zifeng, plus his neglect of her that morning had truly left some grievances in the memory of a girl of only seventeen.

After all, I do have looks, and my body isn’t inferior to anyone else’s, not to mention a decent bust.

”Right, Huahua?”

Liu Tangtang, knowing she was not very familiar with Lin Zifeng, did not forget to stroke Huahua’s ego while she threatened Lin Zifeng, using it as a bargaining chip.

”Fine, if you want to eat, then uncle here will show off a little.”

Lin Zifeng found himself in a situation akin to a girl being teased, and since he couldn’t escape, he simply closed his eyes and enjoyed it.

Under various pressures, Lin Zifeng finally set out on his journey as a kitchen daddy.

Once he entered the kitchen, Lin Zifeng got to work without a word, busying himself with gusto, hardly distinguishable from a five-star hotel chef.

Liu Tangtang, who had been peeking into the kitchen, started to grow curious. Could this guy be a graduate of New Oriental? Could he actually whip up a couple of dishes?

But seeing his bustling figure and fiery energy, Liu Tangtang excitedly ran to Huahua, ”Lord Hua, did you see that? Who would have thought this ultimate uncle actually has some skills—our dining woes are over!”

It was weird, what was up with this guy today? He seemed like a different person. Even though she often bullied him, he had always maintained a never-say-die attitude, but why did he seem so cowardly today, just because of a few words of threat from Tangtang?

Hua Buqi scratched her pink cheek, her eyes lined with a touch of eyeliner also filled with doubt.

She clearly remembered the first time this guy had come to her cousin’s house; the cup of instant noodles and vanilla ice cream that morning had almost made her vomit.

Therefore, Huahua had never had the courage to let Lin Zifeng cook for her. Ever since her uncle came that day, all the housemaids had been dismissed, and she couldn’t figure out what game her uncle was playing.

Looking at Liu Tangtang’s smug expression, Huahua said irritably, ”Are you really letting him cook for you?”

”Yes, what’s wrong, Lord Hua? Is there a problem? Look, his cooking skills are so good, why didn’t you and Sister Nangong let him cook for you? That’s wasting talent.”

”Hehe, Lord Hua, with me around, he won’t dare to bully us anymore. Now we’re on the same side—we’ll unite and face the world together. Giggles”

With that, the silly girl began to laugh.

Huahua jabbed her finger into the soft flesh of Liu Tangtang’s waist, and instantly the two girls started to roughhouse happily.

Liu Tangtang’s compliance with Huahua and her consistent use of ”Lord Hua” was not without reason.

Despite Huahua’s usual loli charm and seemingly perpetual childlike demeanor, the moment she got serious, she was unstoppable, not even by ten bulls.

Back when they were studying abroad, Liu Tangtang didn’t know her yet. After being bullied by some Brits, she found herself outnumbered, with each of her opponents stronger than her, but Huahua happened upon the scene. Without a word, Huahua slapped one of them, then picked up a brick and beat the ringleader until she was hospitalized for half a month. Since then, Liu Tangtang regarded Huahua as a goddess-like figure. Later, when they both got into Yunhai University this year and learned that Huahua was returning to China for her studies, Liu Tangtang, who liked to follow Huahua around like a little follower, also came back from abroad.

The two have already received their admission notices from the famous Yunhai University of Zhonghai City, but they haven’t reported to the university yet.

Huahua had always been occupied with show business to the point of nearly neglecting her studies.

Now, with her contract in Macau falling through and the company continually trying to sideline her, even planning to blacklist her, she didn’t care. Once she graduated from university and got her diploma, she was ready to face whatever came.

In China, there’s a common affliction: no matter how famous a star becomes, without a proper diploma, she will never be regarded as a top-tier star on an equal footing. No matter her popularity, her compensation just isn’t on the same level.

Such is the unwritten rule naturally formed within the Chinese entertainment industry.
