After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 730: Chapter 734: Is It Very MAN [3]

Today, Leng Zimo is holding his engagement banquet here. She knew everyone would come, so she specifically made her way here just to see him, Yizhou, Tong Ya, Huangfu Ao, and the rest one more time.

This departure might very well be a farewell forever; she may never have the chance to see them again.

Tang Ming started the car and slowly drove the Audi away from the hotel’s entrance.

”Now, can you tell me what exactly happened?”

”I don’t want to talk about it.”

Tang Ming lifted his face and glanced at her through the rearview mirror, ”Is it because of Leng Zimo?”

”You promised me that you wouldn’t ask any questions.” Xu Pei said, her face downturned.

Tang Ming didn’t ask any further, but he had already guessed the answer.

The fingers gripping the steering wheel suddenly clenched tighter, and he pressed down hard on the accelerator, causing the car to speed forward into the distance.

...

...

Luo Xiaoqian and her two companions rushed to the hospital where Shen Yizhou worked. When they entered the treatment room, the burn on Jiao Yang’s back had already been taken care of. Medicine had been applied, and now he stood shirtless in the room while Shen Yizhou and a female doctor were wrapping gauze around his wound.

Even though his wound was now covered with gauze, the swath of gauze that almost spanned his entire chest and waist was enough to reveal the severe extent of his burns.

”Is it that serious?” Luo Xiaoqian’s frown deepened.

”No, I specifically asked the doctor to wrap it up completely like this. Actually, it’s only the size of a palm!” Jiao Yang held up his hands to show their size and struck a muscle-flexing pose, ”Xiao Qian, how about it? Don’t I look very MAN? Are you regretting getting engaged to Zimo now...”

Before Jiao Yang could finish his sentence, Tongtong, already distressed, interrupted, ”What do you mean the size of a palm? Your entire back is burnt. I couldn’t even bear to watch when the doctor was picking at the blisters!”

Luo Xiaoqian immediately looked apologetic, ”I’m sorry, it’s all because of me...”

”How could this be your fault?” Jiao Yang swiftly cut her off, ”If Tongtong hadn’t bumped into the waiter, the dish wouldn’t have spilled. Besides, as a superman, of course, I’m supposed to exist to protect beautiful ladies!”

Tongtong’s face instantly turned displeased, ”Jiao Yang, what do you mean by that?”

Jiao Yang gave her a faint glance, ”I didn’t mean anything. I was just telling the truth.”

”You...” Tongtong stomped her foot in frustration, grabbed her purse, and left.

”Tongtong!” Luo Xiaoqian hurried to stop her, ”Don’t listen to Jiao Yang’s nonsense. It was obviously my own fault for not getting out of the way, and Jiao Yang got involved too. How could it be your fault? Jiao Yang...” She pulled on Tongtong and gestured insistently at Jiao Yang, ”Quickly apologize to Tongtong, hurry!”

”Why should I apologize?” Jiao Yang said while putting on his shirt with the doctor’s help, ”I haven’t done anything wrong!”

”Hmph!”

Seeing his attitude, Tongtong turned, shrugged off Luo Xiaoqian’s arm, and walked toward the door, her high heels clicking on the floor.

Luo Xiaoqian was about to follow when Leng Zimo suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist. In his eyes was a hint of anger.

Tongtong actually dared to push away Luo Xiaoqian. If it weren’t for the fact that Jiao Yang got hurt trying to save Luo Xiaoqian, he definitely wouldn’t have let Tongtong leave like this.

”Jiao Yang, go after her!”

Luo Xiaoqian urged Jiao Yang anxiously.

”Don’t worry, I’ll tell you, she’ll be back within five minutes,” Jiao Yang said, glancing at his wristwatch, ”So, by ten past ten, let’s start timing now.”
