After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 723: Chapter 727: Why Not Die!

Struggling to stand up, Xu Pei became suddenly quiet at the sight of the traffic flowing under the overhead bridge.

Ignoring the dust on herself, she just got up and took one step at a time towards it.

What was the meaning of such an existence?

Leng Zimo would never forgive her, nor would Leng Lin, and even if Tong Ya and the others took care of her, it was just out of pity... But what future did someone like her have?

Perhaps, it was better to die!

”Xu Pei!”

Behind her, a familiar voice came.

”Don’t come over, just let me die...”

Xu Pei instinctively wanted to turn her face but halted halfway and hurried to cover it with her hand, then, with all her strength, she rushed forward, trying to climb over the railing and jump off the bridge.

Footsteps approached rapidly; as she had just managed to climb onto the railing, someone pounced on her, holding her tightly, and they both fell to the road.

”Tang Ming, let me go, let me go...”

Xu Pei struggled fiercely, but Tang Ming held onto her tightly, regardless of her hitting him, cursing him, scratching him... he just wouldn’t let go.

”I won’t let you die, Xiao Pei, you can’t die!”

Feeling powerless to shake him off, Xu Pei turned her face furiously to confront him, ”Tang Ming, you bastard, look at me now, what is the point of my living?!”

Beneath her disheveled hair, her face was grotesquely ugly, terrifying like a ghost; even Tang Ming was startled, ”How could this happen?!”

He had chased her all the way here, saw her trying to jump off the bridge, and immediately rushed up to grab her, but he hadn’t gotten a clear look at her face.

”You see, for me, living is worse than dying, let me go, let me die,” said Xu Pei with a look of despair.

”What nonsense are you talking about!” Tang Ming bellowed out, ”Are you Xu Pei, the Xu Pei I know? It’s just a face, I can help you heal, I can arrange for plastic surgery!”

”You don’t understand, I have no hope left, there’s no point in me living...”

”But you still have me!”

”You?!”

Xu Pei lifted her face, her eyes staring at him from amidst the dark scabs of blood.

In those eyes before her, there was only concern, not a trace of disgust, as if her face was still the same as before.

”No, I don’t need your pity...” Xu Pei pushed him away.

”Xu Pei!”

Tang Ming caught her and held her tightly in his arms, then kissed her lips, her lips that had been disfigured by burns.

Watching his face looming large in her vision, Xu Pei’s eyes widened, feeling the moist touch of his lips, she suddenly forgot to struggle.

Tang Ming!

Was he, was he kissing her?!

Was he kissing her, now that she had become so hideously disfigured?!

It was an extremely gentle and treasured kiss, yet it left Xu Pei stunned in place.

”Tang Ming, you...”

”You still have me, no matter how you change, in my eyes, you are always beautiful, and that will never change,” Tang Ming’s gaze held a complex mix of emotions, firmly holding her arm, he looked straight into her eyes, ”Come with me, let’s start over, okay?”

Start over?

”Really, can we?”

”I promise!” His fingers gently touched her lip, ”Xiao Pei, believe me!”

Holding her arm, he slowly helped her to stand up, took off his coat, draped it over her, covering both her body and face.
