After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 712: Chapter 716 The So-Called Relatives [1]

Shen Yizhou put away the surgery notification, and Leng Zimo turned and walked towards the door.

Watching his retreating figure, Shen Yizhou extended his tongue to lightly lick his lips, ”Zimo.”

Leng Zimo frowned and turned his face.

Shen Yizhou approached him, his expression solemn, ”I’ve looked over all the test results from the last 24 hours, and the protein levels in the urine have increased since before we went to France. That’s not a good sign, you and Zirui should prepare for the worst.”

”Thank you, Yizhou.”

Nodding his head, Leng Zimo pulled open the door and walked out.

He stopped outside his father’s hospital room.

Inside the room, Luo Xiaoqian was chatting with Leng Lin, and the two were talking about the amusing stories from when the two brothers were children. Leng Lin, reminiscing about old times, had a face full of smiles, and Luo Xiaoqian also laughed lightly from time to time.

Peering through the crack in the door, listening to the laughter of the two inside and seeing their smiling faces, Leng Zimo felt an overwhelming sadness rising from his heart.

Leng Zirui finished his phone call and approached from a distance. Seeing Leng Zimo standing outside the hospital room, he tilted his head in confusion, and the smile on his face began to fade.

Turning to look at Leng Zirui, who was approaching, Leng Zimo raised his right hand, ”Got a smoke?”

”Don’t you always carry cigars with you?!” Leng Zirui raised his hand and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, taking one out for him.

”After I found out Xiao Qian was pregnant, I stopped carrying cigars,” Leng Zimo took the cigarette from his hand, ”because I’m planning to quit smoking.”

”You’re crazy!” Leng Zirui muttered under his breath, tossing a lighter into his hand, ”Come on, I’ll go have a smoke with you.”

The two brothers went together to the smoking area of the lounge. They headed straight for the balcony before Leng Zimo finally lit his cigarette.

Leng Zirui took the lighter and lit his own cigarette, taking a light drag, ”Things aren’t looking good, are they?”

Leng Zimo leaned against the railing of the balcony, ”Yizhou said that yesterday’s test results were heading in a bad direction.”

Standing beside him, Leng Zirui leaned on the railing, exhaling a puff of blue smoke.

Neither brother spoke another word; they just finished their cigarettes before stepping back out of the lounge.

As they entered the hospital room one after the other, the solemn look on Leng Zirui’s face had disappeared, replaced by his usual carefree grin.

Leng Zimo walked over to Luo Xiaoqian’s side, raising his hand to support her shoulder, his expression now relaxed, ”What were you talking about?”

Luo Xiaoqian looked up and returned his smile, ”Uncle Leng was telling me about your childhood.”

Leng Zirui grinned and glanced sideways at their father, ”Let me guess, he’s telling the story of how I took apart his gun, left out the firing pin, and nearly got him into serious trouble, right?”

”Really?” Luo Xiaoqian’s face showed surprise, ”When did that happen?”

Leng Zirui raised his hand to his chin, ”I think I was either five or six...”

Leng Lin took over, ”You were four and a half. It was summer, I just took a nap, and this kid had taken apart my gun and put it back together again...”

He elaborated on that day’s details, even vividly remembering that Leng Zirui was wearing blue shorts that day.

Leng Zimo and Leng Zirui were hearing some of these old stories for the first time, and even they hadn’t expected that their father would remember these incidents so vividly.

In their memory, their father always seemed to be busy, quickly leaving every time he came back, as if he could hardly be bothered to look at them.

He remembered it all?!
