After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 717: Chapter 721 Good News and Bad News [3]

”This girl, sigh...” Leng Lin sighed, but did not say anything more.

”Is she still in good spirits?” Leng Zirui asked softly.

Tong Ya frowned and shook her head, ”She can now move around on her own, but I haven’t let the doctors take off her bandages. I’m afraid she... can’t handle it!”

”But she has to face it eventually,” Leng Zirui said.

”We have a therapy session on Monday, and she has to remove the bandages for the examination,” Shen Yizhou frowned, ”Hopefully, she’ll be strong enough.”

”Leng Xiaoer, get the bowls and chopsticks ready for dinner,” Leng Zimo’s voice came from the kitchen.

Leng Zimo, being who he is, naturally knew that they were likely discussing Xu Pei’s situation. His order was simply a reminder for them to stop where it was appropriate.

”I’ll go with you guys on Monday,” Leng Zirui said quickly, standing up straight and heading for the kitchen, all the while joking, ”What ’Leng Xiaoer’? I’m the boss here, from now on call me Boss Leng!”

Tong Ya helped Leng Lin with a napkin, and Shen Yizhou also went into the kitchen to help with the dishes.

The family happily sat down at the table, and Shen Yizhou smiled as he glanced at everyone present.

”Before we eat, I need to sternly, but not specifically, criticize someone here who, taking advantage of being older than me, has been pressuring me with his seniority, ordering me to give him the results first. Although I, Shen Yizhou, am a doctor, I won’t yield to power!”

Leng Zirui shot his father a look, ”Comrade Leng Lin, that’s where you’re wrong. Aren’t you just using your seniority to your advantage?!”

Although Shen Yizhou did not specify, everyone knew he was talking about Leng Lin.

”Nonsense!” Leng Lin glared at him, ”I’m the patient here, I have the right to know!”

Leng Zirui was about to say something else, but Shen Yizhou’s gaze moved to him, ”Don’t start with Uncle Leng, you’re the same, threatening me with physical force. Do you think I’m afraid of you just because I can’t beat you in a fight?”

”Look at what you’re saying, where was that threatening? All I did was offer to give you a good stretch and a massage!” Leng Zirui chuckled, ”I’m the patient’s son, I have the right to know too, right?”

Shen Yizhou ignored him, shifting his gaze to Leng Zimo who was helping Luo Xiaoqian with her food, ”And you, don’t act like it’s none of your business. Playing the sympathy card won’t work either. No one’s going to get any inside information from me. Let me tell you, these tricks won’t work with a qualified doctor.”

”That’s enough!” Leng Zimo picked up a lamb shank from the platter and put it on Shen Yizhou’s plate, ”After all that talk, isn’t it just for this?”

”Of course, you’re the one who knows me best!” Shen Yizhou laughed as he grabbed the lamb shank from the plate, ”I dare someone to try and take it from me today.”

”What character!” Tong Ya huffed with disdain, ”Just like that, the enemy doesn’t even need to threaten or bribe you. They just need to throw you a roasted lamb, and you’ll spill everything. And to think you’re a ’qualified’ doctor. I say, you’re just a ’qualified’ foodie!”

Shen Yizhou, biting into the lamb shank, didn’t forget to retort, ”I’m not eating your food, so why the rush?”

The people at the table were immediately amused by the banter between the two.

The Leng Family father and son exchanged looks, then each picked up their chopsticks to eat.

Everyone understood that the three men’s requests of Shen Yizhou were their way of attempting to take on the most painful news first themselves.

While nobody said much, the deep familial bond between the father and sons was palpable.

The atmosphere at the dinner was warm, filled with laughter.
