After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 719: Chapter 723 Good News and Bad News [5]

”Why was the mirror in the bathroom removed?” Xu Pei looked at her seriously. ”Tong Ya, tell me the truth, is my face very badly injured?”

While in Italy, to prevent her from becoming overly emotional, the hospital had arranged a room without a mirror especially for patients with facial injuries.

Hospitals in our country didn’t have such humanized designs, so Tong Ya had asked Shen Yizhou to have the hospital staff remove the mirror from the room.

However, even though the mirror had been taken away, the marks on the wall were quite obvious, and with Xu Pei’s intelligence, it wasn’t hard for her to realize it was removed on purpose.

”What are you talking about? They were preparing to renovate this ward, so that’s why it’s like this.” Tong Ya walked over and supported her shoulders. ”You have to trust me, your face really isn’t that seriously injured. There are just some minor injuries on your forehead and cheeks. The reason they’re all covered in gauze is because covering them separately is prone to infection. Don’t worry unnecessarily. With your minor injuries, a simple skin graft and scar removal will suffice, and it won’t affect your beauty at all.”

”Really?” Xu Pei asked, grasping her hand.

”Why would I lie to you?” Tong Ya handed her a deep-fried dough stick. ”Come on, eat up, it won’t taste good once it gets cold!”

Seeing the smile on Tong Ya’s face, Xu Pei finally relaxed and started eating the dough stick.

By the time Xu Pei had finished her breakfast, Shen Yizhou had already arrived with Lin Zhi, bringing two nurses with them.

Shen Yizhou introduced several doctors to Xu Pei. ”This is Lin Zhi, my classmate from Columbia who specializes in post-burn treatment. Xu Pei, you can rest assured, our domestic treatment methods are not inferior to those abroad. We will develop the best treatment plan for you.”

”Okay, thank you all.”

”Then we’ll remove the gauze first to take a look at the specifics of the injury,” said Dr. Lin gently, inquiring with Xu Pei, ”Is that okay?”

”Okay!”

Xu Pei cooperated and sat properly as the nurse handed over the necessary tools, and Lin Zhi carefully began to unwrap the gauze for her.

As the layers of gauze came off, Xu Pei instinctively raised her fingers to touch her face.

”Don’t move!” Dr. Lin blocked her fingers. ”The new skin is just starting to grow, you absolutely must not touch it with your hands. If it gets infected, it could affect the recovery of the skin.”

Upon hearing this, Xu Pei immediately retracted her fingers, her eyes turning to Tong Ya who was standing by her side, ”Do I look very ugly right now?”

Tong Ya, looking at her face which was almost deformed, smiled calmly. ”How could that be? You don’t look much different from before.”

She was almost biting her teeth to smile, so as not to burden Xu Pei with too much worry.

In private, she had already cried countless times out of pity for her.

After taking photos for the album and making detailed notes, Dr. Lin said, ”Alright, we will now study your treatment plan. What you need to do is rest well, take care of your health, and we can start the reconstructive surgery. The nurse will prepare a facial mask for you. Wear it on your face when you sleep to avoid pressing on the wound.”

As Dr. Lin was about to leave with the folder in hand, Xu Pei suddenly grabbed her arm tightly, ”Dr. Lin, tell me the truth, can my face be restored to how it was before?!”

”This...” Dr. Lin was just about to speak when Xu Pei interrupted her again, ”You’re a doctor, you can’t lie to your patient, you can’t lie to me!”
