After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 349: Chapter 350 Unable to Connect

”Yes!” Yu Tong had already stood up from her chair, ”President Jiao, I’m truly sorry—we were in such an emergency earlier that I didn’t have a chance to thank you!”

”It was nothing.” Jiao Yang smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

At this moment, the sound of hurried footsteps rang out, as several nurses rushed a person covered in blood and mud from the elevator into another operating room.

”What happened?” Doctor Song stood up and asked a nurse who had stayed outside.

”Mudslides occurred in several nearby villages. Now, many people are injured and trapped. This one has just been rescued!” The nurse quickly explained, then immediately trotted off.

”Xiao Zhou and the children won’t be in any trouble, will they?” Luo Xiaoqian frowned with worry, ”Yu Tong, do you have your phone with you? Quickly, call and check!”

Yu Tong busily took her phone out of her bag, and although it had been protected by a leather case and wasn’t waterlogged, it had long since run out of battery.

”Use mine!”

Jiao Yang handed his phone to Yu Tong. She thanked him and immediately dialed Xiao Zhou’s number, but after a moment, her hand fell limply.

”The call isn’t going through!”

”What about the landline?” Doctor Song asked.

”Right, the school should have a phone, and what about the village chief—does the village chief have a phone?” Luo Xiaoqian also reminded from the side.

Yu Tong took out her work notebook from her bag, and from within it she found the school’s telephone number. The result was the same—no connection could be made.

”Probably the communication lines have been damaged. With such a big incident, the rescue team must have already been dispatched; there’s no need to worry!” Jiao Yang reassured them with a gentle voice.

”Yes, the school was entirely funded by Emperor View for construction. The quality can be assured. When it was being constructed, the frequent occurrence of mudslides here was taken into consideration, and both the site selection and construction process were ensured with multiple safety guarantees. As long as they don’t leave the school, they will be safe!” Doctor Song also commented from the side.

Hearing this, both Luo Xiaoqian and Yu Tong felt a bit more at ease, although they were still not completely reassured.

”By the way, I had dinner with the Secretary-General of the County Party Committee just tonight. We talked about cultural cooperation. I’ll give him a call, ask him to pay special attention to the elementary school!” As Jiao Yang spoke, he dialed a number.

While Jiao Yang was on the phone, Yu Tong found an outlet in the corner of the wall, unplugged her phone charger, and connected it to the power source.

By the time Jiao Yang finished the call, her phone had restarted, and immediately it buzzed urgently with over a dozen text messages coming through.

Yu Tong busily opened the messages to see what they were about, and Luo Xiaoqian, also worried, walked over, ”Is it from Xiao Zhou?”

”No!” Seeing the name Zhuo Yannan, Yu Tong swiftly moved her phone away, ”It’s a personal message of mine.”

”I’m sorry!” Luo Xiaoqian quickly stepped back.

Yu Tong gave her a smile, then carefully read through the messages. Upon realizing that Zhuo Yannan was anxiously trying to reach them, she immediately made the call, ”Ya Nan, this is Yu Tong!”

”My God, you finally have news. Is Xiao Qian there? How are you guys doing? We’ve been worried sick!”

”Both Xiao Qian and I are okay. We just had no cell signal earlier because we were in the countryside. We’re also trying to find a way to contact Xiao Zhou.”

”President Leng was nearly dying of anxiety earlier. I’ll call him right now to inform him, then I’ll call you back in a bit!”

Zhuo Yannan hung up the phone and immediately dialed Leng Zimo’s number.
