After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 345: Chapter 346: Brushing Shoulders with the Grim Reaper

In the flash of lightning, Luo Xiaoqian clearly saw a large tree rapidly rushing down a nearby hillside.

That was... a mudslide!

”Stop the car! Stop the car quickly!”

Greatly alarmed, she instinctively screamed.

The entire windshield was covered in rain and fallen leaves; she could not see the road ahead clearly. Although she was anxious, the vehicle was not moving very quickly. Hearing Luo Xiaoqian’s voice, the driver was also startled and abruptly slammed on the brakes.

The road was wet and slippery, and with the screeching of the brakes, the van slid forward several meters before coming to a stop.

On the hillside, the mudslide mixed with large rocks, trees, and various debris was also rapidly descending. Rocks and mud splashed, hitting the vehicle, making a dull sound. The windshield shattered upon impact, the driver raising his hand to protect his face as mud and glass splattered together.

The van slid sideways for more than two meters and then stopped.

Through the broken window, illuminated by lightning, all four passengers clearly saw a tree by the side of the road being engulfed by the mudslide...

Fortunately, Luo Xiaoqian had noticed the situation on the hillside and shouted in time to stop. The van had only entered the edge of the mudflow and was washed to the side of the road. If they had braked any later, their fate would have been like that of the tree.

”How is everyone?”

Luo Xiaoqian straightened up from the back seat. In the impact just now, she had instinctively lunged over to protect Yu Tong and Xiao Mei, hitting her head hard against the car door. Although there was no bleeding, there was a dull pain.

”We’re okay. How about you three?”

Doctor Song helped the driver check a wound on his hand and quickly bandaged it with gauze from the medical kit he was holding.

”We’re also okay!” Luo Xiaoqian looked at the shattered windshield. ”Can the car still be driven?”

”It can’t. The road ahead is blocked, and the vehicle is half buried!” The driver squinted and surveyed the surroundings, pulling out his cell phone to check. ”Must be damage to the signal tower; there’s no cell phone signal here!”

Yu Tong and Mr. Zhou also took out their phones, indeed facing the same issue of no cell phone signal.

”How is Xiao Mei?” Luo Xiaoqian asked as she shone the flashlight from Doctor Song towards Xiao Mei in Yu Tong’s arms.

Doctor Song crawled over and checked her, ”She has fainted from the fever. She must have surgery as soon as possible.”

The driver looked at the GPS device in the car. ”We’re not far from the main road. Just one more kilometer ahead and we can get to the county road. If we can flag down a car there, we might still make it in time!”

”You three carry Xiao Mei, and I’ll go ahead to flag down a car!” Luo Xiaoqian forcefully pushed the car door, but the outside was already sealed by the mudslide, impossible to open. She could only open the window and climb out through it.

”Xiao Qian, it’s too dangerous!” Yu Tong grabbed her arm.

Who knew what lay ahead, and who could guarantee they would be lucky again?

”We can wait for rescue here, but Xiao Mei can’t wait!” Luo Xiaoqian glanced at Xiao Mei, who had already fainted in her arms. ”I can’t just watch her die!”

”Xiao Qian, take this!” Doctor Song handed her a raincoat and a flashlight. ”Don’t worry, we’ll definitely bring Xiao Mei over!”

”Got it!” Luo Xiaoqian took the raincoat and flashlight. ”I will stop a car!”

She crawled out the window, stepping onto the mud and draping the raincoat over her hand. Holding the flashlight tightly, Luo Xiaoqian treaded through the mud with difficulty.
