After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 239: Chapter 240 I Really Like [6]

”Then just as you’ve promised, exert your utmost effort, contributing the maximum profit to the company,” Leng Zimo met her gaze, the corners of his lips also slightly upturned, ”I really like your performance in the meeting.”

Work is work, and indeed, he had voted for Luo Xiaoqian because he recognized that she would bring greater profits to the company.

However, from a personal standpoint, Luo Xiaoqian’s humility and sincerity had also satisfied him; he liked them very much.

There was clearly a certain emotion in his eyes.

Hearing that word ”like,” Luo Xiaoqian’s heart suddenly skipped a beat, and she shifted her gaze away somewhat nervously.

Fortunately, the red light had turned green, and Leng Zimo had also turned his gaze back to continue driving.

The car drove on, but Luo Xiaoqian’s heart still couldn’t settle down.

Although his actions had proven that he cared about her, the word ”like” had never come from his lips before.

”We’re here!”

The car stopped in the parking lot, and as Luo Xiaoqian got out, she noticed that they were in front of a cemetery.

Leng Zimo retrieved a prepared bouquet from the trunk of the car, fearing that Luo Xiaoqian would have another allergic reaction like the last time, he deliberately walked ahead, keeping a few steps’ distance from her.

Together, they walked into the cemetery, up the steps, across a neatly arranged array of tombstones, to a wide-open clearing in front of a gravesite where they stopped.

Leng Zimo stepped forward and placed the bouquet in front of the gravestone.

Curiously, Luo Xiaoqian looked over and saw that on the granite tombstone, with half of it left blank, the right side was inscribed with the words ”Kind Mother Fan Shiyin,” below which were the dates of her birth and death. Seeing the words ”May 12, 2009,” she suddenly realized.

The password for Leng Zimo’s door was the anniversary of his mother’s death.

Today just happened to be May 12th.

After placing the bouquet in front of the tombstone, Leng Zimo crouched down, removed the sunglasses from his face, and carefully took a handkerchief from his suit pocket to wipe the dust off the stone.

His actions were very careful and gentle, as if the gravestone were not a marker but his mother’s face.

”Mom, today I brought someone to see you.”

Hearing him suddenly mention her name, Luo Xiaoqian hurried forward, ”Auntie, hello, my name is Luo Xiaoqian. I didn’t realize that today was your death anniversary, so I didn’t prepare anything. But I will pay my respects to you!”

After saying this, she stepped back a few steps and deeply bowed three times to the tombstone.

Noticing that the grass beside the grave was untidy, she naturally bent down to pull out the untrimmed grass by hand.

”Silly girl, right?” Leng Zimo chuckled softly, ”But very sincere and cute, just like you. I guess, you would certainly like her.”

Luo Xiaoqian, pulling weeds on the other side of the grave, didn’t hear exactly what he was saying, but her intuition told her he was talking about her.

Could she be blamed? He hadn’t made it clear they were going to visit the cemetery—how would she have known to prepare anything?

Frowning with her back turned towards Leng Zimo, Luo Xiaoqian continued to focus on pulling the grass.

”Auntie, don’t listen to the Tyrant saying bad things about me. I really didn’t know we were coming here. Please, don’t be upset....”

She muttered carefully while pulling the grass.

”My mom was very nice and wouldn’t mind, but speaking to a mother about her son being a Tyrant seems a bit inappropriate, doesn’t it?”

Suddenly, the sound of Leng Zimo’s voice came from above her head.

Luo Xiaoqian’s back went stiff all of a sudden.
