After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 226: Chapter 227: Can I Talk to You [3]

Reaching out, Leng Zimo pulled her up, and his other hand landed heavily on her back.

Luo Xiaoqian suddenly coughed hard, and a piece of apple flew out of her mouth, landing on the bedsheet.

With the foreign object expelled from her windpipe, she gasped for air desperately.

”I’m sorry!” Jiao Yang had also already reached the bedside, looking at her face flushed red, his smile fading, ”Xiao Qian, how are you doing?”

”I’m fine!”

Luo Xiaoqian shook her head as she panted, her gaze stealthily shifting towards Leng Zimo.

Instead of the anger she had anticipated, Leng Zimo’s expression was complex. It seemed to carry a hint of reproach, a touch of helplessness, and a trace of other emotions she couldn’t quite grasp at the moment.

”I...”

She had barely let out a word when he wrapped an arm around her, pulling a piece of tissue paper from the side table on Jiao Yang’s side, wiping the juice from the corner of her mouth, and then casually picking up the apple she had coughed onto the bed. He looked up at Jiao Yang standing opposite him, and for the first time since his entrance, Leng Zimo spoke.

”Move aside!”

Those two brief words carried complex implications.

It seemed as if he was blaming Jiao Yang for blocking the trash can, but it seemed to be more than just that.

Jiao Yang met his gaze with a smile, then stepped aside.

Leng Zimo raised his hand, tossing the tissue and the piece of apple into the trash bin together.

Luo Xiaoqian sensed the strange atmosphere between the two men, swallowed, and tried to say something to break the awkwardness but didn’t know what would be appropriate.

Meanwhile, Leng Zimo had already bent down, holding her head to the side and pressing his forehead against hers.

Looking at his face that suddenly came so close, Luo Xiaoqian opened her mouth in surprise.

”Good, no fever!” Leng Zimo straightened up, his voice was so gentle it could even be described as tender, ”What would you like to eat tonight?”

Luo Xiaoqian looked at his face, devoid of any hint of anger, still tranquil, even with a small laugh line at the corner of his mouth.

Was this really the same Leng Zimo who was always domineering and had a temper so foul he could snap at any moment?

Luo Xiaoqian wanted to pinch her own thigh to see if she was dreaming.

”Not hungry?” Leng Zimo’s eyebrows rose slightly, ”How about I order some light Japanese food then? Sashimi, perhaps?”

Before Luo Xiaoqian could speak, Jiao Yang had already interjected from across the room, ”If you have a wound on your foot, it’s best to avoid fish and shrimp. Those kinds of things can cause inflammation!”

Luo Xiaoqian rushed to interrupt, ”I like it, let’s have sashimi, and sushi!”

The smile at the corner of Leng Zimo’s mouth naturally broadened, ”Okay!”

Jiao Yang looked at the man and woman, still smiling, ”Really, I like sushi too!”

This guy, he never stops!

Luo Xiaoqian glared at him fiercely, and when she turned back to Leng Zimo, her smile was somewhat ingratiating, ”Then let’s not have sushi. Don’t you like dumplings? Shall we have dumplings?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiao Yang spoke again, ”Dumplings are good too. I like the three-delight filling, and tomato and egg is not bad either. Back when I was in the United Kingdom, I loved the dumplings my mother made!”

”Jiao Yang, are you even a man!” Luo Xiaoqian burst out, ”A man should keep his word!”

Jiao Yang shrugged his shoulders, his peach blossom eyes smiling as he looked at Leng Zimo, ”Can I talk to you for a moment?”

Leng Zimo met his gaze, his eyes calm, responding with a simple word as usual.

”Sure!”
