After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 228: Chapter 229: One Hundred Thousand and Two Million [5]

Luo Xiaoqian was still amidst tension; she had wanted to guess some clues from Leng Zimo’s expression, but his calmness was completely unexpected.

Biting her lip, her fingers twisted the bedsheet as she finally spoke up.

”That scandal... it’s not true. I just went to get the photos. When I left the hotel that day, the photos fell, and by chance, he picked them up!”

The whole affair sounded too coincidental, as if it were made up.

Luo Xiaoqian stole a glance at Leng Zimo; he was still calm, seemingly not doubting her, as if waiting for her to continue.

”Afterward, he said he wanted to return the photos to me, so I went. Then, I accidentally fell, and he helped me up.” She looked earnestly at Leng Zimo, ”Do you believe me?”

”Believe!” Leng Zimo uttered crisply.

He believes her?

Just like that, he believes her?!

Luo Xiaoqian’s eyes widened in surprise.

”However...” A hint of irritation rose in Leng Zimo’s eyes, ”what about the meal you owe him?”

”Because he paid for the meal that day, I wanted to give him the money, but he absolutely refused to take it, so...” Xiaoqian’s voice trembled slightly with the anger in his tone, ”I just don’t want to casually owe someone a favor!”

She said Jiao Yang was someone else; she didn’t want to owe him any favor.

”Right!”

Leng Zimo nodded, the anger vanishing from his eyes, and even a smile forming at the corner of his lips.

He was smiling!

He seemed to be in a good mood, so she might as well come clean. She really didn’t want to lie anymore.

A sense of relief washed over Luo Xiaoqian, yet recalling what was to come, she couldn’t help but clench the corner of the blanket tighter.

”There’s... there’s something else, not one, but two things. Can you... can you not get angry?”

Two more things?

Leng Zimo looked at her face, puzzled, watching her anxious expression, and softly said, ”I can.”

”You promise?” Xiaoqian sought to confirm once again.

”Promise!”

”Alright, then I’ll say it!” Xiaoqian didn’t look up at him but instead down at a wrinkle on her blanket, ”I spent your money, a total of one hundred thousand...” As she reached this point, she couldn’t help but sneak a glance at him, ”I’ve paid back sixty thousand; I’ll return the remaining forty thousand when I have the money!”

She still needed to pay back his money?

This girl, is she being formal with him!

There was a touch of displeasure in Leng Zimo’s tone, ”And the other matter?”

”That sixty thousand was what I earned from a secret performance, and twenty thousand of it didn’t go through the company. I...” Xiaoqian bit her lip hard, ”I went to Zhengding for a secret performance as well!”

”Luo Xiaoqian!”

Leng Zimo sprang up from his chair, his hands clenched in outrage.

Luo Xiaoqian hung her head, neither speaking nor moving, a picture of a child admitting their wrongdoing.

She knew it; he was bound to explode. She was in the wrong, so let him vent his anger if he must.

Yet inside, she couldn’t help but be scornful.

Saying that a man’s promises are reliable, it’s all a deceit!

Leng Zimo’s hands were clenched so tightly that his fingernails were digging painfully into his palms.

For just a few tens of thousands of dollars, she had resorted to performing, and not only that, but she had also put herself in such danger. He really wanted to pry open her little head and see what on earth she was thinking?!

”The two million, what did you use it for?” he asked through clenched teeth.

Two million?

How did one hundred thousand turn into two million?
