After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 218: Chapter 219: Thinking for Him [10]

In the middle of the night, Luo Xiaoqian woke up.

Opening her eyes, she saw a dark figure bent over by her side in the dim light.

In her haziness, she was startled and instantly became fully alert. Upon closer inspection, she recognized it as a person leaning over the side of her bed. Carefully, she moved the blanket aside, and the face of Leng Zimo, which had been obscured by the blanket, now appeared before her.

Under the soft glow of the light, his face appeared even more well-defined, with long eyelashes casting a faint shadow over his cheeks. Without his usual overbearing presence, the Leng Zimo in front of her was sleeping soundly, clearly showing signs of fatigue.

Looking at the handsome yet rarely peaceful face of the man, an unusual emotion rippled through Luo Xiaoqian’s heart.

At that moment, it was pure instinct to call out to him to save her, and somehow, he had actually rushed over from the Capital to rescue her.

Although she didn’t want to revisit the incident, she was very aware that without him, she would have been completely finished.

Over three hundred kilometers away, he had arrived so quickly; without having to guess, she could imagine how desperately he must have rushed, how crazily he must have raced through red light after red light...

Luo Xiaoqian’s nose started to feel sour, and her eyes began to sting with discomfort.

Apart from her father, Leng Zimo was the kindest man to her.

Unable to help herself, she raised her hand, carefully extending her fingers, wanting to touch his face.

Just as her fingertips were about to reach him, the door was gently pushed open, and a young nurse came in with medical records and a thermometer.

Luo Xiaoqian was startled and hurriedly withdrew her fingers.

Leng Zimo, who had been sleeping by her side, heard the noise and sat up straight, looking toward the door.

”Miss Luo just had her temperature taken!” the nurse whispered.

”I’ll do it!” Leng Zimo stood up, took the thermometer from her hands, and turned to Luo Xiaoqian, who was watching him with eyes wide open. He looked slightly surprised, ”Did I, wake you up?”

”I woke up on my own!” she said, reaching out her palm.

Leng Zimo glanced at the thermometer in his hand and passed it to her.

”I’ll come back for it in a while!” The nurse tactfully left the room, and Luo Xiaoqian placed the thermometer under her arm.

Leng Zimo adjusted the blanket for her, ”Are you hungry? Do you want some water?”

Even though Luo Xiaoqian shook her head to refuse, he still brought over a cup of hot water. After carefully testing the temperature, he inserted a straw and offered it to her mouth, ”Take a sip!”

Even though she didn’t feel like drinking at all, she still took a couple of sips through the straw.

After setting the cup down on the table, Leng Zimo turned around, only to have Luo Xiaoqian grab his sleeve.

”There’s a bed over there; you should go sleep for a bit!”

He hadn’t slept last night and must have been busy with work all day. Furthermore, he had stayed with her in the evening. How could she bear that?

”I’m not tired!” Leng Zimo responded with a smile, sitting back down on the chair, ”You rest assured and recuperate. I’ve already ordered the single’s release date to be postponed by a week. We’ll talk after you’ve adjusted your condition!”

”Okay!”

Luo Xiaoqian nodded. Before she could say anything else, the nurse walked back in, and she hurriedly took out the thermometer to hand it over.

”36.4 degrees, that’s good. Rest well!”

The nurse glanced at the reading, smiled at Luo Xiaoqian, and left again.

”Continue to sleep,” Leng Zimo said as he lifted his uninjured arm to properly cover her with the blanket.

”Then you go sleep as well.”

”I’m not tired,” Leng Zimo simply shook his head. With the caregiver’s bed in the living room, he was still uneasy about letting her sleep alone here, ”You sleep well, I’ll stay right here with you!”

Seeing his eyes bloodshot, Luo Xiaoqian pursed her lips, ”Then...can you sleep with me? I’m...a little scared!”
