High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2097: Chapter 318: Take a Break from School, Kid!

Squeak.

The sound of the coffin lid being lifted interrupted the young scholarship student’s somewhat pessimistic last words.

Dylan’s groggy voice followed: ”Tombstone? Who needs a tombstone? I know an eight-hundred-year-old shop, their carvings are super beautiful...”

The appeal of graves and death to Mister Wolfman was roughly equivalent to that of a gourmet magazine to the Fat Wizard. No wonder he could drag himself out of the coffin despite the midday drowsiness.

But the response from within the coffin—such a terrible omen—was highly inappropriate at the moment, only making the young scholarship student even more despondent.

Zheng Qing let out a strange hum from his throat, sounding like both a whimper and a weak laugh, in reply to the voice from the coffin.

A string of unexpected events also quelled the Fat Wizard’s long-simmering anger.

He frowned and glanced at the pile of letters and paper cranes before the young scholarship student, picked up a few at random, read them, and a lot of the blue on his face faded instantly.

”Don’t think being scolded will earn my forgiveness,”

He grumbled, slowly reverting to his original form, grumbling and muttering: ”This kind of retreating tactic, I stopped playing by the time I was ten...”

As he spoke, he cast a malicious glance at the Blood Werewolf who seemed to be dozing off by the edge of the coffin: ”Ha, Dylan still doesn’t know... our Su Councilor’s husband has been found!”

Zheng Qing drooped his head, letting him stir things up.

”Found... found who?” Dylan grabbed onto a few words, and his sluggish brain felt like it was thrown into ice water, instantly waking up: ”Found who? Someone from our school? Alive or dead? A professor? Researcher? How old?”

He immediately caught sight of the newspaper in Xiao Xiao’s hands as he entered the room, sprang out of the coffin like a gust of wind, snatched the newspaper, and began reading rapidly.

Xiao Xiao shrugged and looked at Zheng Qing.

”What are you going to do?” In the entire dormitory, only Doctor Xiao seemed calm enough to know what the most pressing issue was at the moment.

”Holy crap!” Dylan exclaimed beside him.

”Stop shouting, Poseidon was truly unintentional!” As Zheng Qing said this, four figures instantly appeared before him, sitting orderly in a row—including Tuan Tuan—and the Sprites enthusiastically prepared hot coffee for the ’audience’.

The young scholarship student twitched at the corners of his mouth, dropped his eyelids, and succinctly explained the special relationship between him, Su Shijun, and Poseidon.

”So you’re saying Poseidon is really the child of you and Su Shijun?” Doctor Xiao caught onto a key point.

”Mm.”

”And you and Su Shijun haven’t progressed beyond holding hands?” Dylan caught another key point.

”... Mm.”

”Hmm, that makes me feel a lot better.” The Fat Wizard’s complexion improved significantly.

”Not good at all... This kind of thing is impossible to explain to others.” Zheng Qing replied irritably, taking a deep breath: ”So... not joking here... I want to confirm, is it possible for a wizard not born under an ominous moon to transform into a zombie?”

”It’s possible for an ordinary wizard, but not for you.”

Mister Wolfman had caught up, tutting while picking up the newspaper again, scrutinizing the young scholarship student as he read, not forgetting to mock: ”Don’t think that marrying a member of the Moon Council allows you to do whatever you want, changing between Blood Race and zombie as you please...”

”I wasn’t thinking of becoming a Vampire,” Zheng Qing weakly defended himself.

Dylan ignored this, continuing to taunt with a ’respectful tone’: ”...You’re something else! Lived with you in the same room for a year and a half, yet I didn’t realize you’re a married man! Should I bow next time I see you, and address you as ’Upper House Member’... or wait, that has a double meaning... how about ’First Gentleman’?”

”I’ve already planned to die, what more do you want!” Zheng Qing became a bit exasperated.

”Who hasn’t died before?”

Dylan had finished reading the report and, upon hearing this, rolled his eyes, snickering strangely: ”Among the zombies, vampires, and ghost students at First University, which one of them hasn’t died? If dying once meant becoming Su Shijun’s husband, even in name, guess how many people at the school would immediately commit suicide?”

That would mean dying more than once!

For some inexplicable reason, this thought jumped into Zheng Qing’s mind and then expanded—apparently, he had died once before, last time in Elena’s spell array... Or could it be that he fell under some evil curse needing to ’die once’ for every female with whom he shared a special connection?

”For a wizard, an ordinary death is the least sincere apology.”

Doctor Xiao adjusted his glasses, interrupting the young scholarship student’s wild thoughts: ”If the duration is short, even relatively established Family could set up a summoning array... If it’s a long duration, at most, you’d reincarnate as a zombie, ghost, or Blood Race...”

”So what do you guys think I should do!” Zheng Qing had completely run out of ideas, spreading his arms and slumping on the ground as if he were a puddle of waterlogged mud.

”Take a leave from school, young man!”

The Fat Wizard snorted coldly, giving a seemingly reliable suggestion: ”The sooner the better, best to handle it now, leave the school in the afternoon, at least you can make it home... That’s the best solution for you now... At worst, apply to the school, come back next year with a new look and name to re-enroll, start from the first grade again.”

”A leave of absence won’t solve the problem.”

Xiao Xiao shook his head and then looked at Xin Fat Man: ”If I remember correctly, no one at First University subscribes to this ’Daily Horn Newspaper’, right?”

”No one subscribes.”

The Fat Wizard corrected the Doctor’s choice of words: ”This kind of third-rate paper doesn’t even have the chance to land on Buji Island... It’s only because the campus newspaper needs to take the best from everything that you can see all kinds of publications in the editing room... This morning when that newspaper was delivered, it just happened to land in my hands... Which means, the matter of Mr. Zha’s situation likely isn’t known by many at the school yet.”

Zheng Qing’s eyes lit up, and a glimmer of hope rose within him.

”Joking!”

Dylan waggled his index finger, shaking his head repeatedly: ”With such big news... I bet by this afternoon there’ll be a swarm of emails sent to the school, asking every First University student they know... If I don’t get surrounded by people gossiping when I go to class tonight, I’ll dance naked by Lin Zhong Lake tomorrow noon!”

This vicious vow instantly crushed the slight hope that the young scholarship student had just felt.

”Fuck me!” Zheng Qing groaned, slapping a hand over his face.

”That’s a bit difficult, buddy.”

Dylan patted his shoulder, his tone carrying a trace of pity: ”All the kids in our dorm are good ones, without those uncommon preferences... I can’t either... I’m too old, my heart is exhausted, I lack the interest... If it were four or five hundred years ago when I had bouts of world-weariness, I might have positively responded to your request.”

Zheng Qing slapped away this babbling guy.

”Hmm, compared to others, there’s something even more damning.” Doctor Xiao pushed up his glasses, his voice suddenly becoming very low: ”The thing about Poseidon... does the Monitor know?”

Though he hadn’t named names, everyone in the room knew who he was referring to.

Zheng Qing could almost sense a bunch of ears all being pricked up suddenly.

He hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded slightly, replying in a quieter voice: ”Mm.”

”Whoa!”

”Impressive!”

”No wonder you’re Mr. Zha!”
