High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2085: Chapter 306: I Advise You to Be Cautious

Zheng Qing was unaware that the ’duck egg face’ wizard, after their separation, had switched to a raven mask, nor did he know how much the Sin Bearer’s rich nightlife had to do with him.

After all, in the world each person lives in, they themselves are the protagonists; there is no third-party perspective providing a melodious narrative of others’ actions.

The next day was Sunday.

Throughout the day, the young cost student hid in a corner of the library, frantically catching up on the assignments he had neglected due to the Hunting Competition.

He believed he wasn’t the only one under such pressure.

Because today the library was unusually quiet; apart from the rustling sound of a feather pen on paper, almost no chatter was heard, which inexplicably reminded Zheng Qing of the time before final exams.

In the evening, until fifteen minutes before the class meeting, the warlock finally closed the magical zoology lecture notes in front of him, having just completed a sketch of a ’Cong Cong’ on the parchment beside him.

The Cong Cong is a six-legged dog, timid by nature, swift as the wind, whose bark resembles its name, also ’Cong Cong’. While sketching this, he couldn’t help but think of the ’Pug’ shot by the Absolution team in Silent Forest during the Hunting Competition, resembling a wild boar, with a call similar to its name.

This made him wonder, if some unknown high-level race outside the world was silently observing humans, would they name humans ’Wah Wah’—after all, many people’s first word is ’Wah Wah’.

With this amusing thought, the young cost student hurriedly headed to the teaching building.

It was said that tonight’s class meeting would be attended by Old Yao in true form, but whether it was true or false, he didn’t know. Since the quiet resolution of an identity crisis a few weeks ago, the professor hadn’t personally come to the classroom.

Perhaps many in the class had heard this news, as almost everyone was there when Zheng Qing arrived.

He hesitated for a few seconds, ultimately taking off his invisibility talisman at the doorway, and walked into the classroom with a grim expression. After all, finishing second to last in the finals was indeed not something to be proud of.

Tang Dun was collecting assignments in front of the podium.

Seeing the young cost student enter, he shook his head, walked over, and patted him on the shoulder: ”It wasn’t your fault... you all did very well, everyone in the class is proud of you!”

Zheng Qing blinked, vaguely expressing his thanks.

Though he didn’t quite understand what Tang Headmaster meant.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Jiang Yu sternly urging classmate Li Meng to do homework, and the young cost student immediately and quietly slipped to the back of the classroom like a chicken.

In a familiar corner, the other three were already seated.

Xiao Xiao and Zhang Ji Xin were catching up on work, while Xin Fat Man was indulging in a newspaper, reading with great interest. Zheng Qing glanced at it, noting it was the ”Beta Town Post.”

”Ahem,” the leader of the Absolution Hunting Team coughed lightly to announce his presence, then softly asked, ”What did Tang Headmaster just say...”

”’Proud of you’?”

The Fat Wizard turned over a page of the newspaper, shaking his head: ”He said the same to us when we came in, presumably having somehow learned we narrowly missed second place... For the sake of school stability, that information has been quietly suppressed.”

”Is it that serious?” Zheng Qing grimaced.

His feelings about narrowly missing second place were complicated; on the one hand, he wished many knew to prove that the Absolution Hunting Team was very skilled; on the other hand, he didn’t want too many to know, given the tendency of some to relish others’ misfortunes.

”If Alpha was not in second place,” Zhang Ji Xin finally looked up from his work, nibbling on a feather pen, his eyes red from fatigue: ”The situation for Alpha Hunting Team would be even more awkward than ours, as other similar-ranked hunting teams are gossiping that they stole our spot... remember the skirmish after last year’s school hunting competition? This year, to prevent similar incidents, any topic likely to stir inter-academy conflict requires review before publication.”

”That basically means it can’t be published.”

Xin Fat Man turned another page of the newspaper, muttering: ”Regarding the unfairness in this hunting competition, I’ve written several articles, but they’ve been suppressed by the Hunting Committee... utterly absurd!”

Such matters are difficult to pinpoint a completely right side; from every perspective, each side seems justified. And for bystanders, the only right choice is non-involvement and staying silent.

He sighed.

Peeking at the still-diligently writing Doctor Xiao nearby.

”Doctor, haven’t you finished your homework?” he curiously glanced over, noticing a complex essay question densely covered with neat tiny writing on the parchment.

Startled, he quickly withdrew his gaze.

Doctor Xiao gave him a peculiar look and adjusted his glasses: ”I’m earning money? Twenty gold beans, you know... dating is costly.”

”Earn...”

The word trembled on Zheng Qing’s tongue before he swallowed it back, having recalled the source of that ’twenty gold beans’ earning project.

It was Xiao Xiao, who seemed tired, massaging his wrist, scrutinizing the young cost student, making him feel uneasy, like sitting on pins and needles.

”What’s up?” The young cost student wrinkled his face—should the Doctor demand more money, at most he could add ten more gold beans.

However, the Doctor’s words were entirely unexpected.

”You’re not seriously being ’Mr. Zha’, are you?” Xiao Xiao scrutinized Zheng Qing coolly, advising: ”Some things can be done, others cannot... sometimes life is on the line... I advise caution.”

Zheng Qing noticed Xin Fat Man and Red Face had both keenly perked their ears.

But he couldn’t care less about such details.

”You advise me to be cautious...” the young cost student was stunned for a while before reacting, feeling rather exasperated: ”You must be responsible for what you say! What’s that supposed to mean!”

His voice was loud enough to draw curious glances from classmates at nearby tables, and the Fat Wizard enthusiastically waved, signaling that everything was fine.

”Ahem,”

Xin Fat Man curled up the newspaper in hand, quickly whispering while glancing at the front row: ”Doctor thinks that, in recent weeks—four or five to be precise—you have been disappearing at a specific time every Saturday night... We quietly inquired, and during that time, Jiang Da Headmaster is tutoring Li Meng classmate.”

Zheng Qing rolled his eyes in response.

After all, the Seven Sins is just a student organization; although they cast a very advanced chaos spell on him, the Black Cat had already begun to remember the events completely following the adaptation period.

However, he hadn’t decided whether to discuss this with his companions.

More people meant more talk, and the Fat Wizard was notoriously indiscreet; should the Seven Sins backtrack and discover his true identity, it would be difficult for him to do anything with this grey organization in the future.
