High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2087: Chapter 308: Gift (Part 1)

Bang!

A piece of chalk fell from the sky, breaking through the barrier set by the young scholarship student, halting the lively small-scale seminar in the corner of the classroom.

”Class meeting is starting!”

On the podium, after over a month, Old Yao’s familiar smiling face appeared again in Zheng Qing’s view, just like before: ”If you have secrets to share, chat after the class meeting... And for those catching up on homework, diligence isn’t a one-time thing, what have you all been doing before?”

The room erupted into chaotic laughter, mixed with urgent questions like ’Welcome back’ and ’Will you come to the curse course tomorrow morning’.

”Why is that stick figure so quiet today?” Taking advantage of the moment, Zheng Qing looked towards the door with a puzzled expression: ”I didn’t hear him warn Old Yao was coming just now!”

”Wasn’t the soundproof barrier set by you?” Doctor Xiao looked speechless.

”Dong Dong!”

Old Yao tapped the lectern lightly with his pipe, raising his hand to signal everyone to quiet down.

”Haven’t I always been teaching you? The difference between projection and reality isn’t that big.” Once the classroom enthusiasm subsided a bit, the professor spoke again, smiling: ”As for tomorrow morning, it depends on the specifics... originally tonight was impossible due to the heavy workload at the lab... but your outstanding performance at this school hunting competition forced me to come.”

Before he finished speaking, the eyes of the classmates were on Zheng Qing and Nicholas, among others.

Using ’outstanding’ to describe Astronomy Class 08-1’s achievements in this year’s school hunt competition was quite reserved. Even if he used ’exceptional’, ’prominent’, or ’stands out from the crowd’, no one would doubt it.

Of course, if the ’crane’ here refers to Astronomy Class 08-1, then the chicken flock would be all the other sophomore classes of the four academies in the First University. It could even trace back several decades, when no newly formed hunting teams achieved such outstanding results.

”In this school hunting competition, Atonement Hunting Team secured eighth place, Fringe Hunting Team ninth, together with the other two teams from Jiuyou Academy, earning huge honors for our academy, let’s give them some encouragement!”

Before he finished speaking, Old Yao led the applause.

Instantly, cheers and whistles burst forth, and a few bold ones seized the moment, releasing fireworks, scattering various petals, and even summoning a few Small Demon bands, causing the witches to scream.

The professor on the podium raised his pipe to his mouth, took a bite, smiling as he watched the scene, ultimately not stopping them, just casting a few spell lights onto classroom doors and windows to prevent disturbing others.

As the dean of Jiuyou Academy, he had a reason to be happy.

In this school hunting competition, there were nine teams entering the final stage, with four from Jiuyou Academy, including the academy team, Judgment Hunting Team, Atonement Hunting Team, and Fringe Hunting Team; additionally, the champion school hunting team leader was Jiuyou Academy’s Uncle Zhang Zhi.

From any angle, this gave Old Yao some feelings of pride, somewhat alleviating the frustration of losing in the vice-chancellor contention.

So he let everyone make noise, smilingly finished a pipe, then tapped the base on the lectern.

Dong Dong!

The noisy sounds instantly subdued, followed by his hand snap—the flying fireworks, drifting ribbons, and petals, and those little demons playing violin and harmonizing, all vanished in unison.

”I know the school and academy offer certain credit rewards and honorary certificates for the teams entering the final stage,” the professor looked around: ”But I think these rewards are too focused on the spiritual side; for our class’s outstanding young people, it’s far from enough... so I’ve prepared a little extra material reward for you.”

This statement immediately incited stronger uproars in the classroom.

If the previous clapping and cheering contained a polite nature, the current noise was more a result of surprise, envy, excitement, and other emotions intertwined.

Especially the members of Atonement and Fringe Hunting Team, each ecstatic, even the always composed Doctor Xiao couldn’t help but strike the table heavily to express his inner excitement.

It’s worth noting that Old Yao is not only the dean of Jiuyou Academy, but also a genuine legendary-level entity. Though there are some vague negative rumors, it does not at all affect the weight of his ’little material reward’.

”How can a legendary boss just hand us a few gold beans!” Zheng Qing looked cheerfully at Xiao Xiao, as Doctor Xiao had long forgotten about the twenty gold beans task.

”Gold beans?” The Doctor pushed his glasses, making an effort to appear calm: ”You underestimate the magnitude of a legendary wizard!”

”Stop arguing!”

The usually lively Fat Wizard became the main force for maintaining classroom order, standing up responsibly to stop others from making noise: ”What kind of behavior is that, we are in a meeting... let the professor speak... Professor? Professor, please continue!”

Old Yao was amused by his proactive approach.

However, he didn’t continue to keep them guessing, raising his hand, eight pieces of lambskin parchment emitting a hazy golden glow lined up in a row appeared before everyone.

This time, without anyone maintaining order, everyone widened their eyes, holding their breaths, carefully examining the ’material rewards’ floating in midair.

”Though I’ve been a dean for quite a while, the recent advancement ceremony consumed a lot, resulting in a slightly tight wallet now.”

Old Yao uttered modest words, then pointed his pipe at the golden talisman papers: ”...so, don’t expect too many jade coins... these were some spells I sealed casually after late-night work, and um, since my current state isn’t fully consolidated, these spells are slightly imbued with my aura... don’t mind it.”

Sss!

The sound of gasps was simultaneous, followed by many pairs of reddened eyes staring fiercely at the members of Atonement and Fringe Hunting Team.

Old Yao’s words were somewhat understated.

A spell tainting with legendary aura, who would mind such a ’small reward’? That’s a rare treasure not even bountiful jade coins can purchase! Not just the eighteen or nineteen-year-old young wizards in this classroom, but even those in Beta Town, or across the wizard realm, would not count those eager to pay dearly for these spells.

Xin Fat Man blankly looked at the shining gold lambskin rolls on the podium, after a while, he turned to the red-faced male wizard sitting beside him, muttering: ”Pinch me... tell me this isn’t a dream.”

Zhang Ji Xin hadn’t acted yet.

The feather pen held by Doctor Xiao heavily jabbed into Fat Wizard’s arm, making him tear up, taking several breaths of cold air.
