High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2073: Chapter 294: Giant Divine Power

The giant swung its arms and stepped forward with legs reaching seven or eight meters in length, but in the dense and lush Silent Forest, the negative effects of its tall stature far outweighed the advantages brought by these seven or eight meters.

Not only did the giant commotion during its run easily disturb some terrifying creatures deep in the Silent Forest, but the thick branches of the trees also obstructed its movement, making its run far from smooth. Worse still, maintaining the complete form of the Bo Fu Clan giant quickly exhausted the magic power of the five hunters from the Absolution Hunting Team.

This state couldn’t be sustained for long.

”Consume a drop of blood!”

Zheng Qing gritted his teeth and gave the order to Xin Fat Man.

The Absolution Hunting Team’s Second Rank battle formation didn’t require actual blood from the Bo Fu Clan, just a trace of its aura extracted from the blood. However, to use the innate abilities of the Bo Fu Clan giant, that drop of blood had to be completely consumed.

In this final match, besides the initial drop of blood, Su Shijun had prepared two additional drops for Absolution, meaning the team had three opportunities to utilize the giant’s abilities.

”Alright!”

Xin Fat Man eagerly agreed—he had been ready for this moment for a long time because of the rarity of the giant’s blood; this was the team’s first time attempting such an operation.

Crack!

The sound of a glass bottle shattering echoed inside the giant, barely audible, followed by a deep blue bloom at the location of the giant’s heart, akin to a miniature sun.

Magic surged from all directions, like birds returning home or a fierce storm. The tall trees around the giant rustled, but all of this was drowned out by a deep roar exploding from within its chest:

”Kuafu... Chasing the Sun!”

In the short span of two syllables, the giant had run nearly a hundred meters. The spell’s sound turned into a peculiar and prolonged wail under the pull of time, distance, and wind.

However, none of this hindered the giant from successfully deploying its divine ability.

As the last syllable was uttered, the giant’s raised left leg suddenly vanished into the air, only to reappear near a water bay by the Silent River several kilometers away, landing heavily in a wet pond.

Following closely, the pale blue figure squeezed out from the air bit by bit, as if from a tube of toothpaste, scattering violent magical energy everywhere. Magical creatures resting by the river were stunned for half a second, then scattered in panic, quickly vanishing from the riverside, followed by birds perching in the treetops, singing insects in the shrubs, and lurking fish in the river.

...

Crow No.3 stopped where the Bo Fu Clan giant had disappeared.

It lifted its foot and stepped on the large footprint left on the ground, feeling the erratic magic rising between, and sighed with some sentiment.

”Too extravagant.”

A green crow landed on its shoulder, tilting its head to preen its feathers. Crow No.3 scratched the green crow’s chin and shook its head repeatedly: ”Too extravagant... Do the kids these days all have this much money? Used a drop of the Bo Fu Clan blood without even encountering the target... and ran faster than a rabbit!”

”It might be that their diviner saw something.”

Seven Crows carefully analyzed the traces left in the air and responded softly: ”I remember the Absolution’s diviner was a special recruit at the school... quite an extraordinary young person.”

”Special recruit?”

Crow No.3 paused and shook its head again: ”No, it’s not about divination... Today, in this mission, not only No.1 acted, there are others too...”

It mumbled but never finished the sentence.

Because a sudden green flame appeared before them, sketching out the shape of a green bird.

The green bird spread its wings, stretched its neck, and chirped twice, then the sound transformed into a cold female voice: ”No.9 has located the target, confirmed the target position... Received No.1’s instruction... Abandon contact, execute Plan Two. Repeat, abandon contact, execute Plan Two!”

The two crows straightened up simultaneously:

”Received.”

”Received.”

Soon after, the green bird folded its wings and turned back into a green flame. Yet the flame didn’t leave nor dissipate; instead, under the watch of the two crows, it shot out two spider-silk-thin green lines to the left and right, reaching into the depths of the Silent Forest.

Seven Crows opened the Law Book, whispering softly:

”Lin Xia You He, Watch Four Directions!”

A water mirror slowly formed in the air, initially with a blurry image, but soon patches of black and green mosaic appeared in the mirror. At the edge, a shadow resembling a jade belt could be vaguely seen.

It was an aerial view of the Silent Forest.

Seven Crows quickly adjusted the water mirror’s focus and angle, and their figures soon appeared in the mirror as two sesame seeds, with a clear blue dot between them.

The lines extending from that blue dot passed through the dappled colors of the forest, connecting with other scattered blue dots, swiftly weaving a massive yet fragile blue network.

The thin line twitched, delivering the cold witch’s voice:

”Magic shielding time is limited... Hurry... Immunity return!”

The last two words were spoken a bit late; a string of ”received” responses was already resonating along the blue line, causing it to vibrate violently, as if it might snap any second.

Crow No.3 helplessly adjusted his mask.

Beside him, Seven Crows folded its hands before it and began to pray softly: ”... In this place of slaughter and plunder built on unholy land... silence surrounds, the world begins to sleep... In the name of the guide, Sharing Sweet Dreams with You!”

Crow No.3 lifted its head, as if wanting to see a familiar face, but the sky was calm, and even the passing clouds were of ordinary shapes.

It opened the Law Book in its hand.

Within was an intricate and esoteric composite spell:

”The insect flies with a low hum, Sharing Sweet Dreams with You!”

”After my birth, I meet this calamity... Sleep Without Hearing!”

”After my birth, I meet this woe... Sleep Without Perception!”

”After my birth, I meet this disaster... Sleep Without Wisdom!”

The gentle chanting spread along the blue line in all directions, resonating with the spell voices of other nodes, vibrating, and expanding over a broader scope, soon enveloping the entire area covered by the giant blue network.

Not far from the two crows, the tendrils of a golden bell hidden in the shrub trembled slightly, then it turned belly-up, rolling into the mud.

A little further, a blue-billed sparrow hiding behind the leaves slightly opened its beak, and its head began to droop downward bit by bit amidst the chanting.

Farther away, the running Pug, the hunting Houdou, the Kappa catching bugs by the shore, the fish blowing bubbles in the water, and even the gentle breeze in the forest all fell silent in the spell’s grasp.
