High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2074: Chapter 295: Unraveling the Threads

”The Divine Power Backlash Effect is strong, the battle formation’s capacity is reaching its limit... prepare for disassembly!”

”Control the Magic Circuit! Increase the magic power supply! Slowly converge the formation!... Disassemble in mid-air at ten or twenty meters, what are you thinking? Planning to fall to your death?”

”The Zhen Staying Battle Formation of the Fringe Hunting Team can’t withstand the impact of a high-altitude fall either!”

”Notify Nicholas to prepare for the disbandment of their formation!”

”Forcibly disbanding the formation requires an external force to buffer the recoil!”

”There’s a pond below, water is the best buffering force!”

”The pond is too shallow... it has to be in the Silent River!”

Splash!

The water splashed up by the Giant’s foot fell back into the shallow pond. The Giant roared softly, withdrawing its foot from the pond’s bottom, lifting a large chunk of mud, and headed straight for the bay of the Silent River not far away.

The pond was less than a hundred meters away from the bay, but during the run, the Giant’s figure kept shrinking.

At the first step, it was over twenty meters tall, after withdrawing its legs, it shrank to seventeen or eighteen meters, another step and it was less than sixteen meters. Thus, taking three steps as two, by the time it was less than twenty meters from the bay, the Giant was already less than ten meters tall.

Then it leapt forcefully.

Boom!

The Giant crashed heavily into the deep Silent River.

Bam! Bam!

Two bursts of blue light exploded at the riverbed, ejecting nine figures to the surface, then they fell again, splashing into the gurgling river water, sending up great splashes.

The fish and those hidden magical creatures in the river had already been scared off by the Giant’s arrival, so the young Wizards of the two hunting teams finally made it to the shore safely.

”Gao out sun, xi xi valley breeze!”

Zheng Qing didn’t bother to shake off the weeds stuck to his body, quickly wiped his face, and raised the Law book high, releasing a spell with a drying effect—this was also the first spell he heard after stepping on Buji Island last year.

A gentle warm breeze blew in from all directions, as if consciously, it swept away every trace of dampness from the young Wizards and soothed their weary emotions.

Zheng Qing shook his robe vigorously, shaking off several dried mud patches.

Then he remembered something.

”Is Iseni alright?” The Atonement Hunting Team’s leader looked nervously at the hunters of the Fringe Hunting Team, ”I just forgot it was also present...”

Casting a drying spell on a Fishman is almost murder.

Not far away, gentle ripples rose in the Silent River, then the Fishman’s large head floated to the surface, showing a hint of comfort: ”Hiss... I’m fine.”

After falling into the water, it didn’t leave the Silent River again.

Zheng Qing secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

”Really, thank you guys.” After tidying up, Nicholas walked up to Zheng Qing and solemnly expressed his gratitude: ”If it weren’t for your intervention, we would definitely be in big trouble.”

As he spoke, the Hunters from the two hunting teams had already gathered behind their respective leaders—except for the Fishman in the river.

”We’re classmates, no need to be so formal.”

Zheng Qing waved his hand repeatedly, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, ”I’m just curious, which hunting team... or who was it that attacked you? Seeing that tiger’s movements, it was clearly going for the kill.”

Nicholas gave a wry smile.

”We were just unlucky.”

He briefly described the experiences of the Fringe Hunting Team—from the injured Horned Camel Beast, to the Green Qiu falling from the sky, to the Wizards wearing Raven Masks, and the snippets of conversation they overheard between those Ravens.

”A mutated Green Qiu!” Zhang Ji Xin swallowed, a look of fascination on his face: ”I’ve never hunted such a rare creature...”

”No wonder I couldn’t recognize the species of those green Ravens.” Xiao Xiao, still brooding over another matter, finally nodded with satisfaction: ”It turned out they were transformed Fireflies... this is a high-tier transformation application of summoning magic, ordinary students can’t possibly master it, it’s not covered at all in the textbooks.”

”So, is it a teacher?” Liu Fei Fei exclaimed softly, covering her mouth.

”Not necessarily, it could also be a Research Institute researcher.” Xin Fat Man crossed his arms, contemplating: ”Judging by their words and actions, they seem to be collecting experimental materials... although not very compliant, there’s no reason to make a move just because you witnessed it, right?”

”Did you say the numbers you’ve seen reached nineteen?” Dylan, hanging upside down from a sycamore branch nearby, his expression serious: ”This is definitely not a small organization... how many people are there in the school in total?”

Two thousand students, about two hundred faculty members, the number of people in the Research Institute is uncertain—Zheng Qing answered in his heart, simultaneously realizing that an organization capable of dragon hunting, with at least twenty people, is indeed not small.

”Whoever they are, they must have a close relationship with the school.” Lin Yan stood behind Nicholas and Liu Fei Fei, quickly adding: ”They know the detailed information of our hunting team... I mean, very detailed information about each person!”

”And they are very unfriendly to non-pure blood Wizards.” Liu Fei Fei nervously glanced at the Fishman in the river, lowering her voice a bit: ”In fact, I feel they classify Fishmen and Green Qiu in the same category.”

”Sounds like something the 3A Society would do.” Zheng Qing scratched his head.

If there is a place with the most severe ’racial discrimination’ at the First University, it would be the Alpha Academy, especially the 3A Society under the Alpha Academy is notorious for its extreme ideology.

Lin Yan’s face looked somewhat pale.

Because among the ten people present, only he was from the Alpha Academy.

”We’ve already delayed for a long time.” The Atonement team’s Diviner pushed his glasses, reminding his team leader: ”If we don’t plan to forgo the competition, it’s best to hurry... we can report those ’Ravens’ to the school after the competition ends.”

”Ah... right!”

Zheng Qing immediately came to his senses, looking at Nicholas: ”Then...”

He meant that everyone could say their goodbyes now.

But Nicholas apparently misunderstood the young cost student’s intention, very straightforwardly pulling out a magnetic spoon and placing it in the hand of the Atonement Team’s leader.

”This is our hunting team’s ’clue’,” he shrugged, though he couldn’t hide his disappointment, he didn’t hesitate at all: ”Since you saved us, we have no right to continue competing with you... good luck.”

Zheng Qing held the magnetic spoon, hesitantly glanced at the other hunters of the Fringe Hunting Team—Liu Fei Fei gestured encouragingly with a thumbs up, Carmen focused on playing with the Tarot Cards in her hand, Lin Yan seemed a bit unwilling but didn’t voice opposition, and as for Iseni in the distance, it had buried most of its body back into the river, with only two eyes and a line of fish fins left on the water surface, completely indifferent to the transaction on the shore.

”In that case,” Zheng Qing turned the magnetic spoon over and put it away, then shook Nicholas’s hand with a big smile, ”then I’ll respectfully accept! Good luck to you too!”
