High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2095: Chapter 316: HOW DARE YOU!

Normally, receiving a blessing from a Great Diviner, even just verbally, is something worth celebrating.

But Zheng Qing is not happy at all right now.

Especially since ”one’s own family knows its own affairs,” if the news from the Daily Horn truly ferments, a verbal blessing won’t solve anything.

Troubled by this matter, the young cost student followed the student council clerk outside for quite a while before suddenly realizing the content of his earlier words.

”Mailbox? Exploded?”

After following the tall, lean warlock out of the teaching building, Zheng Qing asked in confusion, ”What mailbox? My mailbox? Why would the mailbox explode either?”

He was a bit concerned about words like ”explosion.”

”Oh, ’mailbox’ is a term used internally by the student council.”

The guiding student council clerk was very enthusiastic, explaining in detail, ”Generally, mail sent to students from outside the school is checked by the school to ensure it’s not dangerous—such as containing certain evil spells, poison, or other illegal materials—before being handed over to students. The temporary storage point in between, we privately call ’mailboxes.’ It’s basically just a few big cabinets in the student council office, with each student allocated a slot in the cabinet.”

”And by ’exploded’ you mean...”

”Under normal circumstances, those slots can hold hundreds of letters or hundreds of paper cranes. They are more than spacious enough.” At this point, the student council clerk shook his head in amazement, ”This morning, for reasons unknown, over a thousand letters and paper cranes flooded in from outside the school in one go, all for you... a continuous stream, filling up your ’slot’ in no time... we temporarily found a few more slots, which also got filled... and this was after removing many ’dangerous letters’... there’s no choice, the bigwigs above have spoken: the person involved must handle it personally...”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing paused in his steps, a bad thought popping into his mind.

”Did you,” he suppressed his emotional fluctuations and inquired nonchalantly, ”see the contents of those letters during the inspection? What are those letters seeking me for?”

”Not sure.”

The student council clerk shook his head, comfortingly patting the warlock on the shoulder, ”The letters are all checked through magic, there’s no possibility of someone peeking, so you can rest assured... also, it’s not the first time in history a student mailbox suddenly got overloaded... we suspect it’s probably because the Absolution Hunting Team performed outstandingly in this year’s Campus Cup, which earned you a large group of followers... oh, and congratulations, congratulations to the Absolution Hunting Team for their excellent achievements this year! How did you manage it? And the end of last semester’s battle of Black Prison, as far as I know, throughout First University, you were the only team participating in that grand battle...”

Zheng Qing smiled awkwardly.

Intuition told him that today’s flood of letters definitely were not congratulating him with kind words—he couldn’t even imagine what kind of situation he would face once the Daily Horn’s report spread.

The tall, lean warlock beside him still rambled on about the glorious deeds of the Absolution Hunting Team, occasionally inquiring indirectly whether the team planned to recruit new members this year or the next? Would they consider student council staff?

Zheng Qing chuckled, quickly walking.

The office building was next to the teaching building, but one was oriented east-west, and the other north-south. Exiting the teaching building, crossing the winding paths of the small garden in front, and they reached the office building entrance directly.

The student council office was on the first floor of the office building.

Zheng Qing had been here more than once, for example, to attend student council interviews, visit certain professor’s offices, or submit some report materials for the Absolution Hunting Team, among others.

Thus, he was also familiar with the parrots on duty in the first-floor lobby.

”Long time no see!” The young cost student suppressed the restlessness in his heart, familiarly added some bird food to the parrot’s food box, and greeted, ”Is it your shift today?”

”Long time no see!” The parrot perched on the main branch lifted its claw, bumping fists with the warlock, looking equally familiar, sighed, ”No choice, born with a laborious life...”

The student council clerk looked at the person and bird with a strange expression.

After exchanging pleasantries, when Zheng Qing took the badge and followed behind the tall, lean warlock to the student council office, the tall, lean warlock quietly asked, ”Can you tell which is which? Teach me? I’ve been in the student council for almost a month, and I still can’t distinguish them...”

The last sentence he said with a hint of frustration.

Zheng Qing comfortingly patted his shoulder, ”Actually, I don’t recognize them either... except for that three-headed honorary student council president, all the other birds look the same to me... all green-skinned parrots.”

”Then why do you...” The tall, lean warlock was instantly dumbfounded.

”It’s just small talk; greeting doesn’t harm,” Seeing the office right in front, the young cost student had no more energy to make small talk, ending the conversation very succinctly, ”It can’t go wrong.”

...

Behind the two warlocks.

At the entrance of the corridor.

A green-skinned parrot perched on a secondary branch in the lobby parrot perch curiously lifted its head, looking towards the parrot on the main branch, cawing, ”Brother, do you know the student who just greeted?”

”He just processed a temporary entry with no detailed identity materials; how would I know who he is!” The parrot on the main branch rolled its eyes, lifted its claw, and picked at the bird food stuck in its beak.

”Then why did you...” The parrot on the secondary branch was instantly dumbfounded.

”It’s just small talk; greeting doesn’t harm,” The parrot on the main branch spread its wings, confidently patting the head of the parrot on the secondary branch, advising, ”It can’t go wrong.”

...

Zheng Qing, of course, was unaware that parrots were mimicking behind him.

He was standing in front of those cabinets in the student council office, looking through the cabinet windows at his ’mailbox,’ full to the brim with various envelopes and paper cranes, all motionless.

A witch opened the cabinet door, took out a pile of envelopes, randomly picked one, and handed it to the young cost student.

”Please inspect it first,” she explained routinely, ”If there’s no problem, sign on this receipt... then you decide whether to open them here or take them back to the dormitory.”

”It’s safer to open them here,” The tall, lean warlock who brought Zheng Qing to the office advised kindly, ”The school’s Monitoring Array can screen out all risks...”

Seeing the gleam in his eyes, Zheng Qing highly doubted he just wanted to gossip about the letter contents.

”Didn’t you say these letters were already checked? Why would there still be risks?” The young cost student frowned.

”Just in case,” The tall, lean warlock chuckled, pulling a red envelope from that pile and handing it to Zheng Qing, ”Check this one...”

Zheng Qing casually opened it.

Boom!

The envelope made a very loud noise the moment it was opened, like a whale burping, then a giant mouth struggled to emerge from the envelope, opening wide, its huge roar shaking the whole office with a buzzing sound:

”HOW DARE YOU!!!”
