Chapter 2082: Chapter 303: Do Not Touch My Tongue

”A wizard wearing a raven mask?”

The Sin Bearer murmured, repeating Black Cat’s words, while raising a hand to touch the mask on his own face, and replied softly, ”Of course, of course... Information about mysterious organizations is always the hottest trade on the market.”

”How much can it sell for?”

Black Cat didn’t notice the tone of the Sin Bearer and excitedly counted with its cat paw, ”Those guys are really impressive. I think it’s worth at least three jade coins...”

Three jade coins amount to thirty gold beans. If this deal can go through, it would be a substantial profit after paying Mammon’s interest.

”If the information is true, then three jade coins are indeed not expensive.” The Sin Bearer looked at the Black Cat with interest, ”By the way, not many people should know about these wizards wearing raven masks, right...”

Black Cat suddenly realized and immediately tensed the tip of its tail, trying hard to appear nonchalant: ”Oh, I am a staff member of the Trident Archive and saw a secret report... mentioning those guys wearing raven masks...”

It suddenly felt a bit troubled.

While needing to conceal its identity, it also had to reveal some information about the ravens, which was indeed challenging. This led it to suddenly think of concocting some information—of course, making up stuff and outright lies are different things; it was only planning to present some of its deductions as facts.

But immediately, the Sin Bearer’s next sentence made it abandon that thought.

”I have two ’True Word Spells’ here; which one would you like to use?” He opened his law book, pulled out a feather pen, and simultaneously reached into his bosom to feel around: ”Uh... hang on, I didn’t bring any white jade today... You have only one choice.”

He smiled apologetically at Black Cat.

”Any is fine with me.” Black Cat replied, biting the bullet.

”Very good... A good trading character is the beginning of you truly becoming one of the Seven Sins.” The Sin Bearer said, quickly transcribing a spell into his law book, and soon, the feather pen lightly touched, and a gentle spell echoed in the barrier:

”Do not touch my tongue, words shall not flee!”

A gentle breeze blew against Black Cat’s face, causing it to stick out its tongue, feeling that it seemed heavier than before.

”The Touching Tongue True Word Spell, don’t make reckless remarks, or your tongue will get tied.” The Sin Bearer joyfully closed his law book, leisurely looking at Black Cat: ”Now, you can disclose your information... Oh, hold on a bit.”

”Do not touch my tongue, words shall not flee!”

He cast a True Word Spell on his own face while explaining to Black Cat: ”This ensures that after you reveal your information, I can provide a correct guiding price to avoid any detriment to your interest. Then, for instance... hang on a bit more.”

The Sin Bearer smiled apologetically, lifted the duck egg mask on his face up to just below the nose, raised one hand to cover his face with his sleeve, revealing a simple seam of lips, and then Black Cat saw that mouth slightly move, coughing twice: ”Cough, cough... Hmm, I am not the Sin Bearer of Seven Sins.”

No sooner than the words left his mouth, a bright red tongue was pulled out with an invisible force and knotted in mid-air. The Sin Bearer who had lied immediately fell sprawling on the ground, rolling over several times, looking as though he was about to suffocate.

Even so, he remembered to reposition his mask properly.

This left Black Cat wondering whether to admire or fear him.

Fortunately, the rolling lasted just a short while before the Sin Bearer clambered up, breathing heavily, and brushed off the bits of grass that had clung to him: ”Phew... as you can see... phew... as long as... phew... you don’t make reckless remarks... phew, it’s fine. It’s a very brief but terrible small punishment. You can try it.”

Black Cat’s tongue flicked around the side of its mouth, eventually shaking its head.

”I’m not stupid.” It tugged at its ear.

”So then,” the Sin Bearer sat back down in front of Black Cat, opening a notebook in his hand and fishing out a feather pen, ”what is your information...”

This time, Black Cat was silent for a long while before speaking again.

”The unknown organization wearing raven masks is powerful, with multiple members possessing registered wizard strength, and with over ten members.”

Its voice was as dry as the content it spoke: ”They are suspected to be involved in multiple recent death incidents within Silent Forest, and some information about the organization has been grasped by the Trident.”

There was a long silence between the person and the cat.

The Sin Bearer finally couldn’t help but ask, ”Is there more?”

The Black Cat, expressionless, shook its head—truth be told, when it used the word ’suspected’ just now, its whole body tightened, worried that its tongue might involuntarily tie itself in knots.

The Sin Bearer’s tone was slightly disappointed: ”If that’s all... this piece of information probably isn’t worth three jade coins. In my opinion, it’s only worth one gold bean... Perhaps you know some specific activities they’ve been involved in, which might increase the value of this information.”

Black Cat again shook its head, quite decisively: ”I want to know more information concerning them too... So telling you tonight is partly a trade, and partly a commission... If you can gather more information about this organization, the Trident is willing to pay enough for purchase.”

”Do you still insist on being part of the Trident?” The Sin Bearer gave Black Cat a sidelong glance.

Black Cat looked itself up and down, then raised its head, with a somewhat perplexed expression: ”Is there any loophole?”

”Here’s a tip, the Trident never buys information on the black market.” The Sin Bearer’s tone showed a bit of envy: ”Whenever they need information, they will directly use their fists to knock those words out of the mouths of intelligence dealers...”

”Wow!”

Black Cat sighed with similar envy: ”So... when you sell to that side, could you price it a bit high? I can give you a kickback!”

”Patience, my friend.”

The wizard wearing the duck egg mask gestured with his hand and tilted his head listening. Not far away, in another sound insulation barrier, another Sin Bearer was in a heated discussion with Mammon.

”Good news.”

He soon turned back, looking at Black Cat: ”Mammon is willing to buy this piece of information... for two gold beans... which means you only need to pay ten gold beans to reclaim that contract.”

”Calculated this way, it’s one less gold bean than the eleven you previously asked for!” He concluded with a reminder-like tone: ”In a way, you are not losing out.”

”No, I lose one gold bean.” Black Cat calculated its accounts with razor precision: ”Coming here tonight, I earn nine gold beans and spend ten gold beans plus a piece of information... not counting the information, a net loss of one gold bean.”

It shook its head, watching Mammon return the contract in the distance, suddenly coming to a realization.

”Wait a minute, does this mean I paid to pass this round of assessments?” It tilted its head back slightly, looking incredulously at its cat paw: ”...Moreover, I signed the contract! Are you guys devils?”
