High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2056: Chapter 277: Edge, Edge!

”...In the six ’selection matches’ conducted from midnight on October 10th to 24:00 on October 15th, the Fringe Hunting Team scored respectively: eighty points in the first match (against Crawlers), one hundred points in the second match (against Deep Divers), eighty points in the third match (against Shatak Bird), fifty points in the fourth match (against Giants), one hundred points in the fifth match (against Zu Ge), and ninety points in the sixth match (against Yeti).”

”The final score calculation for the selection matches follows the same logic as a single match.”

”Remove one highest score of one hundred points, remove one lowest score of fifty points, and average the sum of the remaining four match scores... thus the final score for the Fringe Hunting Team in the six selection matches is— eighty-seven point five points!”

This is a very risky score.

Because it is only zero point five points higher than the tenth-place old school Hunting Team YPO, almost failing to squeeze into this final round.

This year’s finals only take the top nine ranked hunting teams, which is stricter than in previous years. This is also one of the reasons why many old school hunting teams failed to pass the selection match. It’s important to know that First University alone has twenty-seven officially registered hunting teams.

Perhaps sensing the slightly oppressive atmosphere over the Hunting Ground.

Following the guide, Nicholas at the front of the team walked with his head slightly bowed, shoulders hunched, eyes not daring to glance around, appearing extremely humble.

Liu Fei Fei was similar to him, and Zheng Qing felt that the two seemed to wish they could curl up into a ball to escape everyone’s gaze.

In contrast to the two leaders, the other three hunters of the Fringe Hunting Team were much more natural.

Gypsy Witch Carmen donned a light red Bohemian long dress, like a movie star walking the red carpet, her face radiating a standard smile, naturally waving and greeting around.

Fishman Iseni dragged heavy steps, with furrowed brows, completely uninterested in the surrounding noise, wiping its fan-like palms over its body, as if trying to dust off the surrounding dirt.

Clearly, the dry environment of the Hunting Ground was not friendly to it.

Also, the Alpha rookie Lin Yan, who once attempted to ’purchase’ the Atonement Hunting Team, walked unhurriedly at the back of the team. Neither did he show the nervousness of a newcomer entering the finals nor arrogance of triumph. Instead, he was like an old-school Alpha, with every movement unusually steady, causing several hunters in the Alpha court team to nod continuously.

”Bang!”

A huge noise exploded like thunder in their ears, interrupting the calm water-like entrance ceremony of the Fringe Hunting Team. Zheng Qing turned around abruptly, following the sound to see a bright laurel flower slowly rise from the stands.

Almost simultaneously, all nine hunting teams on the field instinctively unfolded defensive battle formations, and rows of ’Ost’s Guard’ lit up like neon lights on the stands.

Just as everyone was caught off guard, a slightly immature voice cleared its throat, ’hey’ ’hey’ twice.

Hearing that slightly familiar voice, Zheng Qing turned blankly to look at the Fringe Hunting Team—unsurprisingly, Nicholas also looked bewildered and helpless.

The next second, Zhu Si ’teacher’s’ crisp voice resounded throughout the Hunting Ground—

”Fringe, Fringe! Brave forward!”

”Ninth in selection! Invincible in finals!”

”Fringe, Fringe! Unyielding advance!”

”Confidence I have! Come drink celebration wine!”

Accompanied by loud slogans, Zheng Qing vaguely saw two or three little witches standing in the stands, waving large bunches of laurel flowers vigorously.

After chanting a few lines, one of the little witches tilted her head towards the side—

”...How about it, how about it? Isn’t it full of momentum? Should we do it again?”

”That’s about enough,” maybe because the amplification magic used wasn’t refined enough, the little fox lady’s weak voice was equally amplified hundreds of times, echoing over the entire Hunting Ground: ”I always feel like the last sentence... can we drink at our age?”

”Drinking or not doesn’t matter, it’s the momentum that counts!”

Li Meng’s classmates’ proud voice interjected, then complained: ”If we have to do it again, just now, we should have shouted together... why did you start by yourself?”

”Again, again!”

Zhu Si shouted, voice barely finished, only to hear a ’bang’, another large laurel flower slowly rose from the stands, and then three synchronized voices started shouting: ”Fringe, Fringe! Brave forward!...”

Of course, their cheering only went so far.

Four huge blue fox tails spiraled up from the center of the stand, like a giant hand with fingers spread, covering the sky, shrouding the three little witches’ heads, a roll, a sweep, leaving the surroundings calm and quiet— as if everything earlier was a shared illusion.

If it weren’t for the two blooming laurel flowers overhead.

Zheng Qing blinked, turned around, and looked at Jiang Yu behind him, half-jokingly said: ”...I thought, when you said to have Li Meng in the stands before, it was to cheer us on.”

The witch pursed her lips, kept a straight face, and said nothing.

Sensing the atmosphere wasn’t quite right, Zheng Qing quickly turned back, obediently looking at the stage, secretly mourning for the daring little witches for a few seconds—except for Zhu Si, probably Li Meng and Su Ya couldn’t avoid getting a lecture.

And Nicholas, who’d just taken his position, was full of a bitter smile.

If, when entering earlier, he only wanted to ’curl into a ball’, Zheng Qing guessed he was now considering which magic could make him vanish more quietly.

”Praise Merlin... what a group of brave children.”

On the dais, the puppet man pretended to wipe his eyes: ”Such a moving shout... I believe their slogan will inspire every hunting team present... Did you see those two blooming laurel flowers? That’s the unmasked praise of Victoria Goddess!... Sent to all the young hunters present...”

”No! That’s not it!” Zhu Si’s indignant voice came from somewhere in the middle of the stand: ”I only sent those flowers to my Fringe...”

Unsurprisingly, her voice disappeared again.

Zheng Qing had no doubt, the guide teacher of the Fringe Hunting Team probably wouldn’t have another chance to speak for the rest of this event.

”Next!”

The puppet man seemed not to have heard the small episode just now, raising his voice and shouting: ”Let’s welcome Professor Charles, the Executive Member of the Hunting Committee, to announce the final rules... Everyone, welcome!”

After a brief hesitation, the consciousness between the stands and the Hunting Ground finally reached an agreement again, polite applause, elegant and enthusiastic, rising from all directions.

A silver-haired, stately elder wizard stood up, nodding slightly to the surroundings: ”First, let me, on behalf of all the members of the Hunting Committee, congratulate the nine hunting teams that qualified for the finals... At the same time, thank the guiding teachers of these nine teams, the student council, the Club Union, the School Works Committee, and the Hunting Committee for the hard work and effort contributed to the successful hosting of this ’Campus Cup’...”
