High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2077: Chapter 298: An Incident During the Meeting

Because there was no major issue, Zheng Qing and the others were discharged from the hospital by noon on Saturday.

Two o’clock in the afternoon.

D&K.

The entire Absolution Hunting Team held an emergency meeting.

The topics discussed were the school hunting competition, especially some encounters during the final match.

”Our luck was extremely bad.”

Zhang Ji Xin, unlike his usual energetic self, lay lazily on the table, playing with a hamster on consignment at the store: ”My brother said if we hadn’t fallen asleep at that moment... even if it was a minute later, things would have been very different...”

”What’s different!” Xin Fat Man, hugging a box of popcorn chicken, eating non-stop, said angrily: ”Do you think being late by a minute would let us get the championship?”

The Red-faced Male Wizard tilted his head, glanced sideways at the Fat Wizard, and sneered repeatedly: ”Winning first would be difficult, but getting second certainly wouldn’t be a problem.”

These words stunned everyone else into holding their breath. Xin Fat Man, in particular, choked on this answer, coughing violently and turning his chubby face blue.

”Water to Solve Your Worries!”

Doctor Xiao’s eyes were sharp and swift; he opened the simplified book in front of him and cast a Clear Spring Spell, a small stream of spring water gurgling in mid-air, Fatty immediately buried half his face in it.

Zheng Qing glanced at him, seeing Fatty was fine, he then looked at the Red-faced Male Wizard: ”Second wouldn’t be a problem? How do you figure that?”

”Sigh.”

Zhang Ji Xin sighed, resumed playing with the hamster: ”My brother said, when the people from the Hunting Committee arrived at the scene, they found that we had already completed the hidden task of this hunting competition... not very different from what we guessed during the meeting previously, as long as a hunting team could ’know and act together,’ making choices that align with the hunting team’s principles, they would be recognized by the ’clue.’

”Like us rescuing the Fringe Hunting Team?” Jiang Yu nodded slightly.

”Perhaps.”

Zhang Ji Xin shrugged noncommittally, seeming a bit bored: ”In short, if we were late by a minute and assembled the Compass perfectly, it would take us directly to the venue for the finals, like a door key... notice, directly... if we had snatched the ’magnetic spoon’ from other teams, the assembled Compass would only indicate the correct direction, guiding us to the final venue... My brother said, the school hunting team and Alpha Hunting Team that ultimately arrived, were both in this situation.”

”Directly!” Zheng Qing moaned quietly.

Just like knowing the odds of hitting the huge jackpot are extremely slim, thus hearing others win the prize often is taken lightly. But if that winning ticket was already bought by yourself, only to accidentally forget where it was thrown, that would be fatal.

Equivalent to completing 80.99 out of 81 difficulties, and then hitting your head on the door threshold at the last stretch to the Great Thunder Temple, only to die unremarkably.

Nothing could be more infuriating.

”Shouldn’t completing the hidden task earn some points?” Xin Fat Man, after catching his breath, resumed his indignation.

”That’s why we’re in eighth place, one rank higher than the Fringe Hunting Team.” The Red-faced Male Wizard shrugged, without the usual satisfaction from antagonizing Fatty.

The atmosphere in the store grew increasingly gloomy.

Zheng Qing sighed heavily in his heart, knocking on the table with his hand: ”It’s often said that luck is also part of one’s strength. We weren’t lucky this time... it’s not a battle mistake.”

As he spoke the words ’weren’t lucky,’ a cold laugh suddenly echoed in the young fee student’s consciousness sea.

His mind stirred, he immediately dropped a thread of consciousness into the depths of his sea of consciousness, upon the bold Forbidden Curse tree, where perched a lazy blue snake, softly hissing with its tongue.

This is a residual obsession, left by the Sea Demon King after achieving Ancient One status, needing his internal Forbidden Spell Aura to eradicate it. When Sir placed it inside, he claimed it was giving him a little pet, but knowing the true identity of the Green Snake, Zheng Qing never dared to treat it as a real pet, only as a ’tenant.’

Initially, this ’tenant’ was like a dead object, never moving without Zheng Qing’s command. But recently, perhaps it’s a misconception, Zheng Qing felt it was becoming more lively—some time ago, during the Seven Sins trial, this little green snake even helped him.

Thus, this time entering the sea of consciousness, the boy did not hesitate, speaking directly to ask: ”Was it you who just laughed? Is someone causing trouble in this final match?”

The Green Snake raised its eyelid, revealing a blue shimmering eye, chuckled: ”Heh... Not sure which little rascal cast a Sleeping Spell... did something quite interesting.”

”What did they do? Why didn’t you stop them?” Zheng Qing felt annoyed: ”Even if you couldn’t intervene, at least don’t let me fall asleep!”

”Stopping them, what benefit does it bring me?” The Green Snake flipped its eyes very vividly, lazily flicking its tail: ”...anyway, I’m going to die eventually... as for others... I’ve not harmed you... without clear instruction, just need to ensure you’re not dead.”

Upon hearing this, Zheng Qing suddenly realized, subsequently feeling chilled.

Has this ’Obsession’ come to life?

Does it not want to die?

If it survives, will the Sea Demon King, who has achieved Ancient One status, press down on me with a finger? What if Sir doesn’t make it in time when targeted by such a big shot?

Compared to this big bombshell, the outside discussion of school hunting competition, luck, fairness, and such things suddenly became worthless.

”Captain, captain? Hey, Mr. Zha, what are you thinking about?”

Zheng Qing snapped back to reality, his shoulder was being shaken heavily by Xin Fat Man, as noticing the boy regained consciousness, Fat Wizard shrugged, looking at the others: ”Call him Captain he doesn’t respond, call him Mr. Zha then he responds... this person, hey!”

Zheng Qing, burdened with thoughts, swatted away the Fat Wizard’s hand, not even paying attention to Jiang Yu’s expression.

”I just remembered something.”

He muttered, with another Fat Man suddenly floating in his mind, he spoke instinctively, ”Do you guys know Andrew? That Trident Sword specialist... he came to see me a while ago...”

”Are you talking about the Silent Forest mysterious death incident?” Xiao Xiao immediately recalled this matter—because it happened last week, and Absolution’s people had discussed it seriously at the time, so upon a slight reminder, everyone remembered it.

”You suspect those Ravens are messing around?” Dylan crossed his arms, leaning against the bar, pondering: ”Although it feels somewhat conspiratorial... it’s not entirely impossible.”

Zhang Ji Xin shook his head: ”I remember the Fringe Hunting Team already reported about those Ravens to Trident Sword; if it has anything to do with last time, Andrew would definitely pursue it.”

”He can pursue his own investigation; we’ll conduct ours!”

Zheng Qing knew at this moment he needed to provide a diversion for his companions, so he threw out this matter: ”Back in the Silent Forest, besides us and Fringe, there were those Ravens... no matter how you look at it, they are suspicious!”
