Chapter 2069: Chapter 290: Pug

”The bow is firm, the four arrows are balanced, the release of the arrow is steady!”

”Pug!”①

With the bright sound of the spell, four sharp arrows appeared out of thin air, transforming into four streaks of light, quickly vanishing into the body of a creature resembling a wild boar. The boar beast screamed miserably, toppled onto the ground, and after struggling a few times, it expired.

Soon, a few indistinct shadows accompanied by a breeze appeared next to the boar’s corpse and halted their steps.

”Speed up, don’t waste time.”

Zhang Ji Xin lowered his voice to speak to the Fat Wizard squatting on the ground, while vigilantly scanning the surroundings. He gestured to Dylan: ”Stay on guard!... Be cautious with the investigative range; we can only stay for five minutes at most.”

Mister Blood Werewolf tugged at his hood, his silhouette fading without a sound, like a drop of ink dissolving into a bowl of water, disappearing in an instant.

”Don’t worry, I’m aware of the situation!”

Xin Fat Man opened a small toolbox in front of him, swiftly switching between tools like knives, scissors, saws, and tweezers. In the blink of an eye, he sliced open the boar’s belly and extracted a fist-sized, translucent orb from its stomach: ”It’s rare to see a wild Pug; not collecting some materials would be a waste.”

”What can this orb do?” Zheng Qing, taking advantage of rest time to add a few spells to his Law book, curiously glanced at the orb.

”It has multiple uses.”

As he spoke, the Fat Wizard was separating the membrane from the orb with a silver knife and tweezers: ”For example, this orb is rich in magic power, can hold runes, and can be directly used in refining magic artifacts; ground into powder, it can substitute high-grade pearls in calming soups, eyesight powders, and some antidotes... Even this membrane, when dried and powdered, can treat indigestion, thirst, and can extract fire poison.”

Zheng Qing put away his feather pen and Law book, letting out a satisfied breath.

Then he turned back to the Fat Wizard, who was meticulously cutting the tenderloin on the Pug’s back with far more caution than when collecting the orb. The young scholarship student couldn’t help but pout: ”Saying all that, I think you just want to taste it... If it looks like a pig, the taste should be similar.”

”Even two pigs raised in the same pen can have subtly different meat textures.” The Fat Wizard was always very serious about food; he waved his small knife at Zheng Qing: ”Moreover, the ’Wizard’s Encyclopedia’ clearly calls this creature ’Pug,’ not wild boar...”

”There’s an unusual magic fluctuation approaching fast!” Xiao Xiao suddenly stood up, interrupting the forest chatter, as a faint blue light flashed in the crystal ball he held.

No orders were needed.

The hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team methodically took their positions—Xiao Xiao holding the crystal ball, released a ’Watch Four Directions,’ continuously surveilling the approaching unusual magic fluctuation; Zheng Qing opened his Law book, releasing a stealth barrier he had just replenished, simultaneously grabbing his feather pen to quickly cast his most familiar Binding Spell; Zhang Ji Xin adjusted his breathing within the barrier, pondering tactical arrangements; as for the Fat Wizard, he summoned several wild wolves to tear apart the Pug’s corpse.

In such a short time, it was not easy to completely eliminate traces of battle and the scent of death from this area, but creating a fake hunting scene was much simpler.

In the next moment, the silhouette of Absolution Hunting Team’s hunters slowly emerged in the air within the barrier.

”It’s a hunting team, fleeing.”

Dylan reported as succinctly as possible: ”It’s unclear what kind of attack they’re under, not sure which hunting team... they’re using the Zhen Waterworm Formation.”

Zheng Qing hesitated for a moment.

If it were an ordinary practice class, faced with such a situation, he would certainly direct the hunting team to lend a hand. However, at present, he neither knows what trouble the opposing hunting team has caused, whether it will bring danger to Absolution; nor can he confirm whether the opposing hunting team is truly being hunted down.

Before the finals began, during a certain hunting team training session, Su Shijun explained similar cases—once there was a hunting team that used summoned ghost fire wolf packs to feign being hunted, and then backstabbed the hunting team that helped them during resistance.

”It’s unethical, but a very excellent tactic.” Absolution Hunting Team’s instructor warned these young wizards while analyzing this case: ”You must remember, in the hunting ground, apart from your teammates, don’t trust anyone... Enthusiasm, kindness, compassion, etc., these beautiful words are not suitable for a world aimed at hunting.”

He came back to his senses.

The captain of Absolution Hunting Team issued his command: ”Observe stealthily, don’t intervene independently, if they’re just passing by, we won’t obstruct them. Meanwhile... prepare the Second Rank Formation!”

Absolution only mastered one Second Rank Formation, so there’s no need to specify the formation name.

Compared to other formations, the Giant sculpted by the Bo Fu Clan’s formation possesses not only formidable attack and defense capabilities but also outstanding mobility.

After all, with two long legs, a casual step covers dozens of meters.

Soon, the formation centered around the Fat Wizard quietly unfolded, with a faint blue membrane belonging to the First Rank Bo Fu Clan Formation rising within the stealth barrier.

Outside the barrier, a dark blue was rapidly approaching from afar, Zheng Qing squinting his eyes, already able to clearly see the dark blue membrane of the First Rank Zhen Waterworm Formation, along with the earth waves it stirred during transit.

However, the shape of the wizard inside the membrane was still hard to discern.

Screech!

A sharp cry sounded outside the canopy.

Zheng Qing suddenly looked up.

In the next second, dozens of giant green ravens passed through the treetops, descending from the sky, pouncing onto the giant Zhen Waterworm that had just emerged above ground.

...

...

Zhen Waterworm belongs to Zhen Constellation, also known as ’Heavenly Vehicle.’

After this formation unfolds, the external membrane resembles a giant earthworm, though lacking claws and fangs, but it feeds on the earth and drinks from the underworld, relying on water and soil, with an extraordinary escape speed. It’s one of the few formations within the twenty-eight constellations renowned for ’movement.’

Fringe Hunting Team was formed a short time ago and originally couldn’t master this somewhat advanced formation.

But sometimes, luck and coincidence achieve some incredible things—such as Fringe Hunting Team having a Fishman, who deeply understands Waterworms, as Fishmen love to eat frogs and worms; also, Fringe Hunting Team has a Gypsy witch, and Gypsy wizards are traditionally skilled at controlling vehicles.

With this formation, Fringe Hunting Team overcame many challenges in the qualifiers, struggling to enter the finals.

It seems they have now reached their limit.

Inside the dark blue membrane, Nicholas looked pale as he watched the repeated attacks of huge green ravens above him, the gemstone on the ring in his hand appeared to have dulled.

”Fresh remains discovered!” Fifi’s urgent voice sounded beside his ear: ”Strong magic traces remaining... possibly dangerous magical beasts present!”

The warlock’s eyes lit up: ”Circle around those remains a few times!”
