High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1750: Chapter 494: The Lost Destiny

”The multi-armed giant KOTOS got one.”

”It has long arms, many mouths, and is quite old... Although it came to the Black Prison to cause trouble today, it didn’t take the starry sky route and isn’t a demon. It’s only fair for it to get one. It will appreciate this goodwill.”

”Professor Emma intercepted one.”

”Very good.”

”Captain Whirlwind and Mark Bridget, the Time Usurper, transformed into the Tiber Dragon and used talent magic to intercept one.”

”Damn demons, isn’t anyone going to stop them?!”

”There are not enough people in the inner castle... huh? Lucky, the fruit missed a bit and hit student Zheng Qing... then it was traded by a wandering wizard... and extorted by the Rat Immortal.”

”Poor child.”

A voice sighed long, unclear whether pitying the young cost student who missed the Xuanhuang Fruit, or the little witch who left only a bit of true spirit and obsession to come to the Black Prison Battlefield.

”Leviathan grabbed one.”

”The Dark Three Giant Beasts have been trapped in this realm for too long; it’s time they saw a bit of hope. Besides, their power is crucial on this battlefield, worthy of a fruit... although Leviathan biting off a piece of the world was a bit excessive, they need to pay a sufficient price.”

”Eris caught one in her net, but threw it away.”

”A clever little spider, knows what to take and what not to take, perhaps she’s willing to moonlight as a prison guard or warden in the Black Prison... Then where did that fruit end up?”

”... Those two black mountain goat cubs.”

This time, there was a long silence before a voice slowly replied: ”...If this is the condition for them not making trouble. They can have a piece.”

Someone beside them immediately sneered: ”The premise is that they can still leave after eating the fruit.”

”This time, the Xuanhuang Wood bore seven fruits in total, where are the other two?”

”One disappeared, the system didn’t capture the whereabouts of that fruit. For a big shot who can break through the shackles of causality and snatch things right under our noses, taking a fruit is only proper. As for the other one... it was eaten by Professor Yao.”

”Old Yao? When did he snatch it?”

”Just as the fruit flew out of the inner castle... at that time, Mist, the Sea Mirage, Iceberg, and Gustav were entangled with other deans, and all the members of the Dark Council were focused on the one closest to them, that is, the one in student Zheng Qing’s hand... So when a fruit flew directly into Professor Yao’s mouth, many didn’t react.”

Main Castle.

In the Octagonal Tower.

Several great diviners of the Divination Group sat together, staring at the dark red flame floating in the middle, and the slightly charred bone pieces and turtle shell on the flame, quietly exchanging the constant battlefield news.

Due to the fall of the Front Castle, the Octagonal Tower, originally in the center of the Black Prison Castle, was now at the forefront of the battlefield, even further ahead than the newly established defensive arrays on either side, forming a sharp protrusion, always at risk of being clamped off and surrounded by the Demon Alliance Army.

But the wizards of the Divination Group seemed completely unaware of this risk, staying motionless in the Octagonal Tower, just slightly strengthening the defensive array outside the tower.

The demons besieging the castle also seemed to know that the wizards in this little tower weren’t to be trifled with, not spending much effort on them, but mainly surrounding to contain the diviners’ support to the outside world.

”Something’s not right,” Professor Yi, sitting on the edge of the great diviners, frowned, rubbing a copper coin in his palm, shaking his head repeatedly: ”Very not right... something must have gone wrong.”

Everyone present was a proficient diviner, so they all understood the meaning of Professor Yi’s words, thus everyone remained silent, just quickening their divination speed.

The source of Professor Yi’s confusion was precisely the final distribution of the Xuanhuang Fruits.

Of the seven fruits, excluding the missing one, among the other six, the school got two, the Rat Immortal of the Dark Council got one, Leviathan of the Dark Three Giant Beasts got one, the Black Mountain Goat from the starry sky got one, and the multi-armed giant KOTOS got one.

On the surface, four of them were taken by the forces of the Demon Alliance Army.

But not one fell into the hands of the true demons—whether KOTOS or Leviathan or the Rat Immortal, they all were temporary ’partners’ with demons due to certain interests, essentially intermediaries between wizards and demons, rather than pure demons.

Before today, the Rat Immortal had even been staying at Buji Island’s First University, a long-established wizard.

Professor Yi’s confusion lay precisely in this.

Amassing the Demon Alliance Army comprising four Great Sea Demons and many great wizard demons of the Land of Desolation, they fought hard in the Black Prison, but ultimately didn’t get a single fruit, while their allies took many.

This does not align with their destiny.

Nor does it match their strength.

”Could it be because of Old Yao’s one?” Diviner Li Si from the Xianqin Hunting Group pondered for a moment, expressing his opinion.

The fact that Professor Yao’s true form was a demon was no secret to the great diviners present. Li Si implied that being a demon, Professor Yao intercepted a fruit’s destiny originally belonging to the demons and took it.

Understanding from this perspective made some sense.

However, diviners are the last group to believe in ’coincidence’—Destiny’s arrangements are always rough, but wizards can refine them into intricacy—so no one immediately expressed agreement to such an extraordinarily nifty possibility.

”With such low destiny, there are two possibilities.” Sitting beside Li Si, Jiang Shang from the God Zhou Hunting Group raised two fingers, first retracting a middle finger, then slowly said:

”First, because of our plan, a huge backlash was formed against the demons’ destiny... those lost destinies are an invisible resistance to our plan.”

Immediately, a great diviner shook his head: ”Neither Ulrich nor the Mist are guys who are bad at divination. They wouldn’t overlook the loss of destiny. But judging by the battlefield situation, they have no intention of being cautious, instead, their offensive becomes more fierce.”

”This means they are aware of the dramatic loss in destiny.” Li Si interjected, seeming thoughtful: ”Even if they didn’t snatch a single fruit?”

Professor Yi softly added: ”Or perhaps, they want to cover up something.”

”The second possibility,” Jiang Shang withdrew his previously extended index finger, making his lifted hand into a fist: ”Those destinies were used by someone.”

This possibility immediately brought silence among the great diviners present.

To brazenly and simultaneously use the destinies of both sea demons and wizard demons without causing major backlash from either side, and even going to great lengths to cover up for it, only those at the top of the demons are capable.

On today’s Black Prison Battlefield, there’s only one.

Sea Demon King.

Xiangliu.
