High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1712: Chapter 456: War Under the Unspoken Rules

Zheng Qing numbly looked around.

A moment ago, he was racking his brains trying to safely bypass the black mountain goat cub and climb out of the crater without disturbing the combat figures around the cliff.

Now, he only needed to consider how to find Zhu Si’s trace again.

It was like taking a ride in an elevator.

The warlock lifted his legs, stomping heavily on the solid earth beneath him. The splattering dust told him everything was so real. He then looked around, the deep green that had been covering the battlefield had turned into a dry yellow, the lively willow branches were no longer wriggling, resembling clay statues shattered under the wizards’ raindrop-like spells.

”Why.”

The young student asked senselessly - why did the wizards and demons suddenly cease fighting, why didn’t the demons stop Dean Atlas’s massive blessing spell? Why did they start fighting again?

It all seemed so absurd and contradictory.

A strong sense of unreality.

Having been a shadow once, the black cat easily caught the perplexity in the boy’s heart.

”Because of unwritten rules.” It flicked its tail, signaling the warlock and witch to climb onto its back, patiently explaining: ”These are the unwritten rules between wizards and demons. War, it’s allowed. Life and death struggle is fine too. But the Outer Gods, no.”

”The Outer Gods belong to the starry sky, while the world belongs to wizards and demons.”

”To make an inappropriate metaphor, if wizards represent orderly justice and demons represent orderly evil, then the Outer Gods are the backstage masters of chaos. Chaos and order have irreconcilable contradictions. To the world, the existence in the deeps of the starry sky is as hateful as a virus.”

”Therefore, when two incarnations of the Outer Gods abruptly appear on the battlefield, wizards and demons can suppress the urge to continue fighting and first clear out the ’virus’ that does not belong to this world.”

Zheng Qing heavily sighed, feeling a deep fatigue for no apparent reason.

Compared to the complex, bizarre, and contradictory reality, he yearned for the days of practicing calligraphy, feeding cats, and keeping watch over the bookstore in San You Bookstore.

”You’ve wasted your Lu Er De Holy Water, haven’t you?”

He tilted his head, looking at the witch.

Jiang Yu was startled for a second, only then remembering that Dean Atlas’s massive blessing spell had expelled the starry sky pollution from the entire Keiform Flight Land, so the Lu Er De Holy Water they had drunk earlier was indeed somewhat wasted.

”Magic potions are meant to be drunk, sooner or later.” The witch smiled faintly, then worriedly asked, ”Should we continue? How’s your body feeling?”

Zheng Qing grasped the charm gun, rotated his arms a few times, and nodded: ”No wonder it’s a great blessing-type magic. It feels like I’ve been reborn... How about you? Do you have enough fu bullets?”

Similar to Zheng Qing, Jiang Yu did not rely on the law book on this battlefield, but also used a charm gun for combat. As a first-year student, the high-tier spells she mastered were very limited, and the few high-tier spells remaining in her law book were auxiliary magic, insufficient to deal with those elite demons.

On the contrary, the fu bullets used by the charm gun were of various types, easy to use, with great power, and besides being expensive, seemed to have no other drawbacks.

Of course, for Jiang Yu, who was a well-favored heir apparent within the Zhongshan Jiang Family, expensive was not considered a drawback.

Upon hearing the warlock’s concern, Jiang Yu slightly smiled, took out a new box of fu bullets from her handbag, hung them on her belt, and patted them: ”Perhaps their power is not as great as your blood symbol bullets... But they are sufficient to deal with registered wizard level demons.”

”Alright.”

Zheng Qing no longer hesitated, lowering his body, leaning on the black cat’s neck as if riding a horse, his legs clamped forcefully as he quietly said: ”Then let’s find Zhu Si together and bring her back!”

The black cat beneath the two young wizards rolled its eyes, its throat rumbling with voiceless complaints a few times, flicking its tail as it leaped over several demons swinging weapons pouncing towards them, sprinting towards the ruins of the left side prison.

Without the crater obstructing.

Nor the annoying willow branches obscuring vision.

It easily captured the thin figure of the little witch, swaying as she resolutely moved forward amidst chaos towards the ruins.

...

...

The three-headed and eight-armed giant ape extended two arms, opening its palms, and grasped virtually.

In the distance, the blue roc and the azure eagle flying rapidly landed obediently in its palms. The magic envelopes constructing the roc and eagle dissipated, revealing the figures of two hunting teams.

One was sent out during the timeline pre-combat, belonging to the Xianqin Hunting Group’s Kunpeng Hunting Team. The other was dispatched at the start of the war by Professor Yao to explore illegal intruders via Baihong, belonging to the assistant team hunting group.

After losing the traces of the two black mountain goat cubs, they traced back along the marks left by the prey to the Black Prison Castle.

The captains of the two hunting teams, Zhang Boren and Zhang Yu stood at the forefront of the hunting team, with the giant ape’s arms retracting, appearing under the apathetic face.

”Kunpeng Hunting Team, return to the left wall of the main castle and assist in defending the broken wall defense line.” Professor Yao did not have patience, nor did he have time to listen to the reports from the two captains, directly commanding: ”Assistant Team, go down and catch those two troublemakers, throw them back inside the inner castle walls.”

”Yes!” Zhang Boren immediately accepted his task, saluting and together with his other four hunters, reconstituting a second-rank battle formation, transforming into a roc, flying towards the broken wall defense line.

The acting team leader of the Assistant Team stood on the edge of the giant ape’s palm, looking down, carefully examining for a moment.

Then he immediately noticed the familiar black cat bouncing around on the battlefield and the two weak auras on its back that seemed out of place with the entire battlefield.

”Zheng Qing?” Zhang Yu had a deep impression of this atypical Jiuyou student who caused trouble.

The giant ape slightly nodded.

Hilda lay on the edge of the giant ape’s palm, peeking out, watching the black cat carrying two young wizards scampering around the battlefield, full of gloom: ”How can you see him everywhere?!”

The purple-haired witch standing behind him kicked Hilda off: ”Perhaps that’s fate.”

Thomas followed Zhang Yu, together paying respects to Professor Yao, then quickly joined the figures of the other three teammates, jumping off the giant palm, casting their spells, sliding towards the area of the black cat.

Behind them.

In front of several deans.

The Mist Captain smilingly watched Professor Yao’s little actions.

”Very interesting young wizard.” Its gaze hovered around the warlock on the black cat’s back, a smile carrying slight malice: ”A very interesting cat... If you don’t mind, I’ll also let a few subordinates assist.”

”The Dark Council certainly wouldn’t mind spending big money to buy this loot from you.” The great wizard demon Gustav chuckled, adding.
