High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1711: Chapter 455: Atlas’s Blessing

”Shub-Niggurath!”

”The Mountain Goat of the Forest bearing millions of offspring!”

”Goddess of Dark Fertility!”

”Nicolas!!”

A low humming sound echoed over the entire crater, mixed with growls and roars, like the sickly murmurs of a patient, or the pious prayers of devout believers.

Every wizard who heard these sounds would immediately picture an immense, pitch-black figure in their minds. Like rotting clouds rolling under the night sky, countless slick black tentacles dangling down, jagged mouths opening and closing, spewing out a putrid stench.

Even just conjuring it in thought, one could vividly sense the smell of that stench. It originated from the depths of the receiver’s consciousness, rising through the nose and throat.

Many wizards — demons included — couldn’t initially recognize the identity of the polluter upon hearing those humming prayers, and quickly fell into madness.

Their eyes lost focus, pupils enlarged, praying with the humming whispers. Accompanying the prayers, slender flesh protrusions grew on their faces and bodies, like worms writhing under the skin. Any physical or magic attacks not only failed to halt the mutation’s advancement but accelerated its evolution.

In a very short time, several ’low-cost versions’ of Black Mountain Goat offspring emerged on the battlefield.

Some came from wizards, others from mutated demons.

...

...

”A bunch of bastards.”

Mist Captain gazed at the two huge craters on the ground, muttering curses, unsure if he was cursing those starry sky followers or someone else.

Especially when he saw many crew members belonging to the Mist Ship also affected by those two Black Mountain Goat offspring, undergoing mutations, his expression turned even uglier.

”You didn’t mention beforehand that you’d invite beings from the Deeps of Starry Sky.”

The giant eye floating in mid-air slightly backed away from Mist Captain. From the giant eye grew over a dozen mouths of varying sizes— in a sense, its form was somewhat similar to those starry sky followers below — opening and closing chaotically, gathering the questioning voice of Great Witch Gustav Darren:

”...A mix-breed of Rice. Go and Emperor Bug as cannon fodder, barely counts as a trick. But high-level followers of Shub-Niggurath are a bit excessive.”

”Certainly excessive.” From the huge clock face embodying The Compiler came a clicking agreement: ”This doesn’t align with the interests of the Land of Desolation.”

The Land of Desolation is the gathering place for Witch Demons, and the interests of the Land of Desolation represent the Witch Demons’ interests.

The Great Captain of the three sea demon ships — Vortex, Iceberg, and Poseidon — stood silently behind Mist Captain, expressing support for the Big sea monster, though they seemed equally displeased.

”It’s not my invitation.”

Mist Captain grumbled, looking off into the distance — the four deans of First University had also regrouped, both sides tacitly pausing their confrontation, staring across the Keiform Flight Land’s midline.

”Perhaps it’s Lord Xiangliu’s intention,” Vortex Captain whispered.

Mist kept his mouth tightly shut, maintaining silence on such a speculation.

”Why don’t you take advantage of chaos and continue fighting?” The dean of Starry Sky Academy bore a somewhat unfinished expression, unabashedly complaining to the opponents: ”It’s been so long since I’ve had such pleasure... can’t we just start straightforwardly and finish with a bang?”

”To give you time to cleanse the pollution,” Mist answered tersely.

As he initially struggled to explain to Professor Yao, today’s war happening at the Black Prison had already far exceeded the four Great sea monsters’ plans.

They originally intended merely to take advantage of the school’s weakened power, gather some companions, and raid the Black Prison for autumn wind. If they managed to snag one or two fruits of Xuanhuang Wood, all the better.

But developments always defy planners’ expectations.

Like the involvement of Legendary Power, like the Forbidden Spell Aura leaking from the inner castle wall, or followers of Shub-Niggurath appearing from nowhere.

As a race with a long history of confronting wizards, Big sea monsters clearly understand wizards’ attitudes toward Outer Gods. In many New World exploration wars, wizards preferred completely destroying resource-rich realms rather than compromising or communicating with those existences in the Deeps of Starry Sky.

In ancient language, this was called the struggle of the Dao.

Mist Captain had no doubt, if the school believed they were joining forces with Outer Gods to attack the Black Prison, it might decisively deploy weapons beyond limited scopes.

Like Forbidden Curses.

”Oh?” The former dean of Alpha Academy smirked sarcastically: ”So, we should thank you for considering the big picture?”

”If you really feel grateful, how about ceasing fire and making peace?” Mist Captain replied slickly.

”Don’t waste words with them.” Professor Yao answered with a wrathful, grim face while the indifferent face turned to Dean Urban IX of Atlas Academy: ”I’ll leave the cleanup to you.”

The tall Elder Wizard nodded slightly, stepping forward silently, spreading his arms as if embracing the entire world, the prayer initially like mosquito whispers, gradually like thunder, deafeningly purging the twisted hum from the Deeps of Starry Sky, echoing in every wizard’s ears and heart:

”What the Holy Spirit says to all the churches, anyone with ears should listen.”

”To the weary, He grants strength.”

”To the weak, He increases power.”

”The faithful witness from the dead initially resurrected.”

”Grace and peace be with you.”

”Every valley shall be filled, and all mountains and hills made low; the rough places smooth, the rugged places leveled.”

”Grass withers, flowers fade because Jehovah breathes on it.”

”Those who wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength, they shall soar with eagle wings, run without fatigue, walk without weariness.”

”He loves us, washing away our sins with His blood.”

Accompanying the blessings and prayers of the Big Wizard, the pollution from the starry sky gradually faded from the land, the flesh protrusions grown from the Black Mountain Goat offspring’s murmurs vanished, the newly transformed low-cost versions of Black Mountain Goat offspring fell asleep, beginning to shed black flesh chunks and slick tentacles.

Simultaneously, the two huge craters blasted into the battlefield gradually restored to flat land, rampaging branches in the Keiform Flight Land shriveled and fell in the prayer sound, then were blown away and obliterated by a Nameless wind.

The wounded wizards’ injuries healed swiftly, their consumed Magic Power rapidly restored, courage and fighting spirit surged from their hearts, chaos receding from the battlefield, order descended quietly.

”This is cheating,” the captain of Poseidon complained indignantly.

Dean Yao ignored the other’s questioning, his attention caught by two small dots emerging rapidly from afar towards Black Prison Castle.

A blue roc bird, and a green giant eagle.
