High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1722: Chapter 466: The Most Terrifying

Fish, what I desire.

Bear’s paw, also what I desire.

When the two cannot be had together, I pretend not to know the difference between them.

Zheng Qing recited Master Meng’s profound words in his heart, feeling a moment of clarity within, and calmly took the Colt Python from the witch’s hand—this was important because the gun was originally given to Zheng Qing by Jiang Yu to celebrate his Atonement Hunting Team winning the freshman competition at the school’s hunting party—as he tucked it into his waist, he reached for the other Remington.

”One is definitely not enough.”

He shook his head with certainty, maintaining a serious expression: ”You know the power of those Blood Symbol Bullets, a regular Charm Gun can only withstand four or five shots at most before the runes on the gun fade and collapse... one gun is definitely not enough.”

The witch scrutinized the boy carefully, seeming to verify if he was serious.

”Do you need to take a few more then?”

She raised her thin eyebrows slightly, opening her handbag to reveal several other charm guns: ”I’ve prepared special versions, their strength is more than twice that of ordinary charm guns... a Hooke Single Tube, Martin Toer Smoothbore, Green Gun, and this old-style flintlock gun called the ’Red Bishop’, though long out of production, they’re all classics.”

Zheng Qing noticed there was also a Beretta Double-Barrel among them, though he didn’t understand why the witch hadn’t mentioned it.

He cleared his throat and waved his hand: ”No, no need, two is already a lot, two are enough... previously I always prepared two, they were enough, they were enough.”

”Oh.”

The witch nodded, putting away those charm guns, while absentmindedly asking: ”Su Councilor seems very angry... is it because of Poseidon?”

Zheng Qing coughed violently.

”Wh-what?” he looked around, appearing somewhat panicked and lost: ”Po, Poseidon? What does that guy have to do with this?”

The witch smiled but did not answer.

The black cat curled its tail, rubbing against Zheng Qing’s ankle again—it seemed quite pleased to see Zheng Qing awkward and panicked, clutching its paws with a satisfied expression, only short of having a plate of fried chicken and milk before it.

Zheng Qing’s mind spun quickly, analyzing and finally uneasily confirmed, Jiang Yu definitely knew something—especially given what Su Daxu had just said.

”You knew long ago?”

While loading Fu Bullets into the charm gun, he sneaked a peek at the witch’s expression, unable to resist asking softly: ”You seem... not very surprised?”

”Hmm, knew it long ago.” Jiang Yu, holding that Beretta Double-Barrel, also loading Fu Bullets, calmly responded: ”At first, there was a bit of surprise... after all, the difference was so huge.”

She didn’t mention her current feelings nor explain when or how she learned about this.

Zheng Qing found it hard to describe his feelings at that moment—it felt like a cat had stolen the dried fish hidden in the cupboard, or like walking in icy snow after the thick cotton coat was peeled off, shivering, almost causing a shock.

Luckily, here was the battlefield.

”Get away!”

A light reprimand sounded, followed by a sweeping enormous cyan fox tail from afar, gathering Zheng Qing, Jiang Yu, the black cat, and the two fainted assistant professors into it.

In the next second, a series of intense explosions echoed outside the fox tail.

Without doubt, Shallow Jin Ryoko did not intend to face Su Shi Jun honestly, but continued attempting to take hostages.

However, due to this interruption, Zheng Qing seemed able to pretend to forget the somewhat awkward conversation with Jiang Yu. The young cost student quietly appreciated this damned battle today for the umpteenth time.

When the fox tail dispersed, upon seeing the sky again, Zheng Qing suddenly noticed a pale cyan glow enveloping the entire surrounding, through which two suns seemed like two underdeveloped grapes.

After simple calculations, Zheng Qing guessed the current situation—likely amid the battle between Su Shi Jun and Shallow Jin Ryoko, several hunting teams appeared at the battlefield’s edges. However, they did not approach the great wizard’s battle zone, instead keeping their distance defensively, interacting with each other, and together erecting a barrier that enveloped all life forms within the battle zone, ensuring the dangerous great wizard wouldn’t further threaten the entire battlefield.

With several great wizards supervising from midair and Upper House Members of the Moon Council involved, the purple-haired female demon ultimately couldn’t leave the barrier, being trapped inside.

Thus, it simply ceased fighting.

”No more fighting, no more fighting.”

Shallow Jin Ryoko coughed blood, waving hands repeatedly: ”This body isn’t used to it yet, needs some adjustment... you don’t want to completely ruin ’her’, do you.”

The ’her’ it referred to was the purple-haired witch it possessed.

Su Shi Jun frowned, also stopping her actions.

Indeed, without understanding the possession principle of this great demon, she needed to be more cautious to avoid causing some irreversible consequences.

Shallow Jin Ryoko staggered, standing upright.

Its eye was blackened, face marked with two clear punches, looking rather comical, but as it raised a hand to gently touch the blood on its lips and the marks on its face, surprisingly a bit of nostalgia flowed in its gaze:

”This feeling is really nostalgic.”

”Youth nowadays, really impressive...”

Before Su Shi Jun could speak, the female demon continued talking, seemingly reminiscing, or venting idly chattering, muttering to itself:

”... seventy years ago, I fainted on the battlefield.”

Then, it glanced at Su Shi Jun, adding:

”About your age, too.”

”The battlefield where wizards and demons fought... like today. No, that day’s battlefield was more brutal than today. The footsteps of the God of Death were clearly audible, spells like raindrops made standing impossible, eventually, you couldn’t distinguish which eyes belonged to demons and which to wizards, as many wizard’s eyes were tainted with blood too.”

”Wherever you looked, everything was red.”

”Just like the color of this little brother’s robe.”

Saying this, the purple-haired female demon stared at Zheng Qing’s robe, her gaze seeming somewhat vacant.

From behind Zheng Qing, Jiang Yu explosively emitted a brief but intense glow, a newly acquired Jade Pendant on her emanated cracking sounds, showing cobweb-like fracture patterns. The witch gasped softly, clutching Zheng Qing’s arm.

Zheng Qing unhesitatingly raised the Colt Python in hand, unlocking its safety. Yet the great wizard reacted faster than him. Su Shi Jun shouted angrily, several fox tails flew up, heavily striking the purple-haired female demon again, sending it flying once more.

”Stop fighting, stop fighting!”

”Fight again, this body will really break!”

The female demon coughed blood, stood up, dusting off the dirt on its body, with a slight regret in its scarlet gaze, facing the wizards’ angry eyes, it showed no guilt for its earlier actions, nonchalantly continuing the earlier topic:

”... at that time, I was just a small registered wizard.”

”But when I woke, it wasn’t flowers and applause that greeted me, but this world filled with the aura of death and decay. This world harbored everything filthy from the Mage Alliance, along with a group of trash demons.”

”Haha... they said I had fallen.”

”Can you imagine? A little wizard who had won the Merlin Medal, dedicated everything to the Wizard World, finally abandoned in despair and madness by the world she was most proud of.”

”Just like the Greeks said, ’There are many frightening things in the world, but nothing compares to one’s own kind.’
