High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1727: Chapter 471: Unexpected Entrance

The last time I saw Xiao Xiao was still above Lin Zhong Lake at the school.

At that time, the young cost student was being sucked into the ’Black Moon’, and the diviner of the Absolution Hunting Team was rushing towards him with the law book, trying to grab their captain.

Zheng Qing thought that before leaving the Black Prison, the two would not have the chance to meet again.

Unexpectedly, fate always likes to play such cruel jokes.

When Zheng Qing crawled out from under the black cat’s belly and looked around, behind a remnant brick wall among the collapsed prison ruins, Doctor Xiao poked out his distinctive watermelon head, frantically waving at his captain, pointing to the sky, and making a head-holding motion.

Zheng Qing looked up in the direction the doctor was pointing.

Then he slowly opened his mouth wide.

He finally understood why the sky had turned gray.

Because in mid-air, a gigantic, grey ’Long Snake’ was writhing and weaving, holding up a pale gray barrier that obscured the colors of the two suns overhead.

Outside the barrier, the enormous and distorted figures of the big wizards could be faintly seen, as tens of thousands of golden birds were crashing continuously into the barrier, bursting into golden fireworks.

The barrier separated the frenzied birds, as well as the strong light and noise they emitted.

Following the grey ’Long Snake’ back and forth, on one side was the pointed ’snake tail’, without a single scale, only grey, smooth long fur, dexterously swirling at the tip of the tail, occasionally wrapping up gold birds that crash into it, bundling them up like dumplings.

Zheng Qing didn’t find the ’snake head’ of the grey Long Snake on the other side; it wound past the collapsed prison room, disappearing into a heap of ruins.

”Damn it!”

The grumbling complaint of the black cat sounded in the boy’s ear: ”Immortals are fighting, and little ghosts suffer... I knew nothing good would come from hanging around you.”

While complaining, it swished its tail, wrapped around Zheng Qing’s waist. This time, it didn’t indulge the boy’s struggle but dragged him out towards the outside of the grey barrier.

Bam.

One person and one cat fell heavily to the ground. Subtle ripples spread across the gray barrier as the black cat covered its head, its face looking a bit grim. Zheng Qing cautiously tugged at the cat’s tail wrapped around his waist.

”What?!” The black cat glared at the boy with a bad temper.

Zheng Qing poked at the cat tail still tightly wrapped around him, endured, and with a good attitude, suggested: ”Since we can’t get out anyway...why not find out what’s really happening? You must have seen it too, Xiao Xiao is just over there.”

”How do you know that ’Xiao Xiao’ isn’t a Mirror Demon or Painted Skin?” the black cat retorted — although its attitude was still terrible, the tail wrapped around the boy’s waist loosened a bit.

Zheng Qing felt invigorated: ”Precisely because we don’t know, we need to take a look...What if it’s real? Zhu Si and Xiao Xiao are both over there, I won’t run away alone.”

”Heh,” the black cat sneered twice: ”Self-righteous fool.”

Even so, it still released the tail around the boy’s waist. As soon as Zheng Qing’s feet hit the ground, he started running towards the section of the broken wall where Xiao Xiao had hidden before.

Behind him came the hushed reprimand of the black cat: ”Sneak around that Mi-go, run crouched! Hold onto the amulet Jiang Yu gave you...Be careful, don’t get hit in the head by a stray curse!”

...

...

Outside the grey barrier.

In mid-air.

The four deans of the First University looked solemn as they gazed at the ’grey giant snake’ coiled within the barrier, while the Mist Captain’s face showed a relieved expression.

”Finally arrived.”

The Big Sea Monster looked at the several big wizards, smiling happily, stretching out its five fingers, reaching forward, looking as if it had a sure victory in hand: ”If I were you, I’d honestly gather my men and get away from the battlefield...We only want a few fruits...after all, every wizard is extremely valuable to the school, isn’t that right?”

It was answered with cold laughter and the disregard of several big wizards.

This did not surprise the Mist Captain — if the wizards, who still held the advantageous terrain, could be easily driven back with words, it wouldn’t be the proud First University it knew; on the contrary, the wizards’ persistence at this moment gave the Big Sea Monster more confidence.

Different from their outwardly cold attitude.

Among the four deans, divine thoughts weaved together, engaging in intense discussions.

”The Dark Council appeared too early!”

”This isn’t what the Divination Group predicted, what exactly went wrong...Should we stick to the plan? If we move now, we can still retain over half of the big demons!”

”The Divination Group hasn’t signaled, if we act now, it’d just alert the snake.”

”No plan is foolproof, especially when involving powers of legendary and above. I’d say, we shouldn’t have listened to that fellow Zhuge, making this a layer cake plan...Why not fight it out honestly?”

”Not every wizard possesses the characteristics of Starry Sky Academy. Mist just said something correctly, every drop of a wizard’s blood is extremely precious and shouldn’t be wasted on such matters.”

”Stop arguing over these useless topics...Does the Divination Group have any news?”

”Green Bird reported that one external gateway at the main fortress was confirmed to be opened, it’s through it that the Dark Council people intruded...The route deviates, and the timing is a bit earlier.”

”When we were forced to act against that Mi-go, we should have anticipated this point. We initially transferred its prison cell to the main fortress precisely because of its relationship with that Rat Immortal within the Dark Council, didn’t we?”

”If we hadn’t acted just now, who knows what monster it would’ve turned into after absorbing enough essence!”

”This is why I dislike diviners... Every time they say the plan is ’foolproof’, some changes always occur.”

”No one promised this plan was foolproof!”

”Besides! The Divination Group reminds Dean Yao and President Sun that the Dark Council has coerced several students from Jiuyou Academy and Starry Sky Academy... Hope you can remain calm.”

”Gan Lin’s mother!”

...

...

When the dean from Starry Sky Academy started loudly cursing the people of the Dark Council for lacking chivalry, and complained about the restless brats in the academy.

Deep within the grey barrier.

Among the ruins.

The wandering wizard was also angrily tugging at his beard.

”Why didn’t you act ahead of plan!” he suppressed his fury, standing in front of Rat Immortal, every wrinkle on his face seemed to be stretched taut: ”We originally could’ve brought in more helpers!”

”Helpers? Are you referring to those water ghosts who can’t even walk steadily, or those fiends who attack friend and foe alike when mad?” Rat Immortal, with his back to the wandering wizard, waved his hand dismissively: ”Those monsters, whether more or less, make no difference to the big picture.”

”That’s not a reason for breaking the plan!” The wandering wizard’s attitude grew tougher—he had to maintain the authority of the Dark Council in front of other councilors.
