High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1709: Chapter 453: Helping Hand

Unlike the Great Diviners.

Although there is a cat dwelling in his heart.

Out of cherishing life, when the young cost student faced the somewhat furious black mountain goat offspring at the center of the crater, he dared not feel curious at all.

The teacher once said that when facing the starry sky, one needs to maintain a sufficient level of awe.

The teacher also said that the Outer Gods are merely a group of seekers who have taken another path, indistinguishable in essence from wizards or demons.

Moreover, the teacher said that Shub-Niggurath’s Highness is an ancient and powerful Outer God who doesn’t covet the forbidden curse seed within him.

Perhaps that’s why the enormous black mountain goat offspring in the center of the crater didn’t devour him.

The young wizard mused inwardly while swiftly retreating towards the cliff wall.

The enormous ’crater’ before him.

Undoubtedly, it is the work of the black mountain goat offspring. Zheng Qing could even mentally visualize the scene—when he was subdued by demons, his life hanging by a thread, the black mountain goat offspring descended from the sky, smashing through a massive crater on the ground and killing a host of demons, while the aftermath of the impact also left the offspring severely injured.

In theory, he should be grateful to the lifesaving goat.

Perhaps he should express his gratitude somehow, even if just superficially.

Yet, Zheng Qing doubted whether the black mountain goat offspring before him had any concepts like ’helping’ or ’gesture’. In the mainstream wizarding world, concepts related to the starry sky have always been associated with chaos and evil, and the followers of the starry sky are synonymous with being twisted, insane, and losing sense.

As the saying goes, a gentleman does not stand under a dangerous wall; it’s not worth gambling one’s life on speculation.

The entire ’crater’ resembles a large black bowl, its steep and smooth cliff edges make climbing with just hands and feet very difficult. Approaching the cliff wall, the warlock quickly realized this.

This was not a difficult problem.

For a qualified wizard, there are many methods to overcome a low cliff. For instance, the versatile Binding Spell can summon a vine to hang down from above; or the Dancing in the Air charm allows wizards to hover briefly in the air; there is also summoning spells, Zheng Qing has a double-headed Minoan who, although having been slightly injured by the Color of Star while on the road before, still has the strength to throw him up to the cliff top.

Thump, thump.

The edge of the crater is already within reach, and Zheng Qing hesitated no longer, deciding to use the Binding Spell to climb that cliff section. He reached into the grey cloth bag and pulled out the law book, flipping to the page where he recorded the spell formula for the Binding Spell.

Swish!

An ink-green ’rope’ suddenly appeared, wrapping around the warlock’s feet like a trap set by a hunter, then pulling forcefully.

Zheng Qing stumbled as if tripping over a doorstep, falling face-first towards the ground.

The already opened law book traced an elegant arc through the air amidst his soft exclamation, landing in the nearby dust.

Poof.

A small plume of black smoke rose from the edge of the law book, twisting and winding in the sunlight.

Lying on the ground, the warlock reached out, spreading his fingers, uselessly grasping as the smoke flowed through his fingers. Before it completely dispersed, Zheng Qing felt a heavy force on his feet, as the rope coiled around his ankle pulled him forcefully backward.

Behind him lies the tree-like starry sky follower.

Damn!

Zheng Qing cursed inwardly, ignoring the sharp pain in his chest and arms from the gravel on the ground, he rolled over, raised the charm gun, first aiming at the ink-green rope’s end where the black mountain goat offspring was, but after the gun barrel swayed twice, he finally shifted his target, aiming at the rope.

The charm gun’s magazine contained a temporarily condensed fu bullet of limited power, using it to blast the starry sky follower was highly unlikely, and might even thoroughly anger the other party.

Bam!

A streak of light flashed from the muzzle, hitting the ink-green ’rope’, not only blasting it apart but also leaving a noticeable pit on the ground.

Zheng Qing exhaled lightly, disregarding the remaining ’rope’ on his ankle, and immediately fetched a blood symbol bullet from the grey cloth bag, inserting it into the magazine.

If that guy provokes again, he’ll blow it away with a shot!

The warlock thought fiercely in his heart, instinctively reaching for the grey cloth bag at his waist—last time in North Beita Town, when facing Shub-Niggurath’s incarnation, he had summoned the teacher’s projection using a red paper position. Facing the nightmare-like figure again made him involuntarily seek some sense of security—but his fingers withdrew midway, remembering that the paper position had already turned to dust in that previous encounter.

On his ankle, the remaining ’rope’ still wriggled like a beheaded snake. From the severed end of the rope oozed a small patch of ink-green liquid, resembling tree sap but carrying a strong bloody scent that Zheng Qing could clearly smell.

He used his free hand to grab the segment of remaining rope, pulling hard in an attempt to tear it off.

The ’rope’ had a terrible texture, somewhat like an octopus’s tentacle, slimy and elastic, with the firmness of an elastic rope when pulled hard.

”Caution...!”

From afar, it seemed there was a familiar voice shouting something.

Zheng Qing followed the sound and vaguely saw the silhouette of a huge black tiger. He raised his eyebrows and was about to stand up when the ’rope’ on his ankle suddenly extended and bound his wrist.

Before the warlock could react, over a dozen ink-green ’ropes’ suddenly shot out from under the surrounding floating dust, bundling him tightly like a wrapped zongzi, and hauling him backward powerfully.

This time, the black mountain goat offspring’s pulling force far exceeded the previous instance; in just a blink, Zheng Qing was pulled over ten meters, dragging him into a dusty mess, feeling as though every bone in his body might shatter.

His finger rested on the gun’s trigger, yet Zheng Qing refrained from pulling the trigger, needing to be particularly cautious not to touch it, because now that the gun was secured snugly by those ’ropes,’ the muzzle pointed directly at his chin, firing now would be sheer suicide.

Howl!!

The roar of the black cat echoed nearby, and with this roar, Zheng Qing clearly felt the ’ropes’ binding him tighten slightly, while the dragging force ceased.

It was as if two fierce beasts had tensed their muscles in confrontation, mutually wary.

”Do not move!”

Zheng Qing widened his eyes abruptly; it was Jiang Yu’s voice!

Bam!

The deep sound of the Beretta Double-Barrel followed, and the warlock stiffened, afraid to move. Swish, swish, several wind blades flashed past his view, followed by the dull sound of the wind blades slicing into the sandy ground.

From afar came the painful roar of the black mountain goat offspring.

Zheng Qing felt his limbs ease somewhat, yet remained unable to break free from the binding of those ’ropes.’

”Do you have a talisman against fire?” This was the black cat’s voice.

”Yes.” This was Jiang Yu’s voice, and then Zheng Qing felt a gentle pat on his forehead, a piece of pale yellow talisman paper obscuring his vision.
