High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1710: Chapter 454: Counter Robbery

Whoosh!!

Dark red flames rolled and leaped at the edge of Zheng Qing’s vision. He could smell the gentle lingering fragrance with a light pat, the faint smoke from the talisman paper igniting, and the acrid stench of the ’ropes’ burning, a mix of roasted meat and sapium.

A moment later, the talisman paper burned out.

Zheng Qing once again saw the two suns in the sky, and the ’ropes’ binding his hands and feet completely disappeared. Then that fragrance came closer again, grabbing his arm and helping him up from the ground.

The warlock turned his head and saw the witch’s bright eyes. A few steps away, there was also a huge black cat, arching its back, vigilantly staring into the distance, its tail sweeping back and forth uneasily behind it.

”Why did you come down here?”

He looked at the witch with some annoyance, yet didn’t have the courage to meet her eyes. Compromising, he finally glanced at the witch’s chin before averting his gaze, surveying the vague figures on the distant cliff: ”Didn’t I tell you to stay up there quietly? Down here it’s full of demons... you could die!”

”Indeed.” The witch’s voice carried a hint of lingering fear: ”You almost died.”

This response left Zheng Qing speechless for a moment.

”Thank you.”

He mumbled, reaching out to summon the law book that had fallen into the dust not far away, examining it from all angles while several thoughts quickly flashed through his mind.

Actually, after seeing Jiang Yu, his first reaction was worry, then annoyance, and then he considered sending the witch back to the city wall.

But immediately, he realized this idea was a bit extravagant— for the witch to successfully reach his side from the city wall was already a blessing from the teacher, and if she could return smoothly, it would no longer be just a blessing, but a cheat.

With this in mind, he wisely gave up the intention of persuading the witch to leave, and instead considered what they should do next.

Undoubtedly, he still needed to find Zhu Si.

But with unexpected events happening one after another, in this chaotic battlefield, Zheng Qing had completely lost track of Zhu Si. Of course, based on the observation from the city wall earlier, there was still a general direction where the little witch had headed, which was the ruins of the collapsed fortress in the diagonal front.

At the moment, between them and the ruins was a huge crater and a dangerously looking black mountain goat kid. For safety’s sake, they should climb up a nearby cliff, bypass the crater, and head to the ruins.

But the greatest distance between theory and reality is feasibility.

Zheng Qing’s gaze paused for a moment between the cliffs.

The unexpected arrival from the heavens interrupted his pursuit of Zhu Si and disrupted the rhythm of the entire battlefield. More and more wizards and demons gathered at the edge of the crater, with scenes of fighting and watching, two completely contrasting scenes, existing simultaneously in his field of vision.

”Lin Xia You He, Watch Four Directions!”

The warlock turned to the last page of the law book, casting an investigative spell — not easy on a magic-chaos battlefield — an invisible ripple expanded in all directions, quickly dissipating in the chaotic energies.

The feedback images from the spell lasted only a brief moment. Based on the captured scenes, Zheng Qing reconfirmed that climbing those cliffs was not a smart choice.

Uptop were scenes of fierce battle everywhere, the closer to the crater’s edge, the more intense and frequent the fighting scenes. The entire crater acted like a black hole, continuously attracting the scattered wizards and demons around it.

To leave here, he had to act quickly.

”Open your mouth... ah.”

The witch held an opened ampoule bottle, brought it to the warlock’s mouth, interrupting his thoughts.

Zheng Qing held a feather pen, rapidly transcribing the spell formula of ’Peach and tender’ on the blank page after using the supervisory spell, glancing at the ampoule bottle.

The glass bottle contained a clear liquid emitting a white glow, with golden specks faintly rising and falling within.

It was Lourdes Holy Water.

”I still have some.”

He mumbled, but immediately recalled that the bottles of holy water in his grey cloth bag were also supplied by Jiang Yu, losing his confidence, obediently opening his mouth.

The witch’s lips curled slightly, applying some force with her hand, but she didn’t pour all the holy water into Zheng Qing’s stomach, instead feeding half internally and pouring half into her palm to help the warlock wipe the marks left by the ’ropes’ on his wrists and ankles.

Pollution from the starry sky, in the eyes of most wizards, was as dangerous as being bitten by demons. Any experienced wizard needed to be proficient at handling this kind of pollution.

Lourdes Holy Water can cleanse pollution from the starry sky—this cleansing is somewhat coercive, erasing the outer god’s pollution from memory bit by bit, because as long as the appearance and aura of the outer god were remembered, the pollution would continue endlessly.

This cleansing meme is somewhat similar to a silence contract.

It didn’t erase the memory, just buried those concepts deep within memory.

This is why, although Zheng Qing initially felt the black mountain goat kid was very familiar, he couldn’t recall its identity. Of course, due to the leakage of the forbidden spell aura, it was easy for him to break the restrictions of the Lourdes Holy Water, finding the sealed memories in the depths of his mind.

Zheng Qing smacked his lips, feeling a gentle and healing power spreading throughout his body as the liquid absorbed.

From his stomach, to his internal organs, flowing along the blood vessels, extending to the ends of the capillaries. He could even feel numerous chaotic energies being driven out by that power, seeping from his skin, clashing with the warmth from his wrists and ankles.

Dizziness of the mind, bodily fatigue, mental chaos, were all soothed by this power.

An invigorating sensation from within, making him grasp the meaning of ’spiritual rejuvenation’—like emerging from a muddy pit, taking a hot bath, making one feel refreshed and delighted.

Zheng Qing gently sniffed.

The fragrance on the witch, amidst the chaotic battlefield odors, seemed particularly distinct.

”Give me two bottles as well,” the black cat’s annoying voice inappropriately sounded in the warlock’s ear: ”I can feel, I’ve also been polluted by that stinkbug.”

Jiang Yu lowered her eyelids, responding without lifting her head: ”Five hundred jade coins per bottle, no bargaining.”

”Are you robbing?!” The black cat widened its eyes, looking a bit astonished.

”It was you who robbed first.” The witch turned back, calmly looking at it.

The black cat, somewhat guilty, avoided her gaze.

”That wasn’t robbery.”

It murmured, mumbling incomprehensible words like ’market behavior,’ ’supply and demand balance,’ ’Zhou Yu beating Huang Gai,’ baffling Zheng Qing.
