Chapter 1724: Chapter 468: Zhu Si and Mi-go

Zhu Si stood before a Mi-go.

In fact, she didn’t know that this strange-looking big bug in front of her was called Mi-go, nor did she understand why she was standing here, staring at this big bug in a daze.

She also didn’t know what the neon-like flickering lights on the head of this big bug were trying to convey.

All she knew was that this strangely shaped bug gave her a very familiar, very nostalgic feeling. Being near it was very comfortable.

”Don’t eat me first!”

The little witch bravely raised a small mirror, aiming it at the big bug in front of her: ”My mom and dad are very powerful... be careful they might beat you to death!”

As if frightened by the little witch’s words, the big bug was driven back by the small mirror, retreating swiftly to the edge of the collapsed city wall, clinging tightly to the wall bricks, seemingly trying to press itself entirely into it.

This heightened the little witch’s enthusiasm even further, as if discovering some interesting new game, raising her arm with the small mirror even higher, forcing the big bug to dodge around frantically.

When Zheng Qing eventually caught up with Zhu Si, he witnessed this strange scene—a little witch in a tattered robe, holding a small mirror, cornering a slender pureblood Mi-go. In the air, two suns reflected through the mirror, casting two uneven light spots onto the Mi-go’s forehead wrinkles, confronting the neon-like spots on its head, like a blooming flower of light.

”Zhu Si!”

The young cost student shouted the little witch’s name with a hint of anger in his voice: ”I told you not to wander off! Why did you casually go down the city? Do you know there could be people dying below?!”

The sudden shouting startled the little witch, making her shrink her neck, causing her raised small mirror to become a bit unsteady.

The pureblood Mi-go, initially cowering in the corner of the city wall, did not seize the opportunity to escape as the mirror light scattered. Instead, it flapped its bat-like back fins, leapt over the little witch, and rushed towards the warlock, its forehead antennae furiously writhing, producing a buzzing sound akin to metal tuning forks rubbing.

”Buzz... Roll... Buzz buzz... Open!!”

Zheng Qing immediately halted, raised his charm gun, aiming at the monster opposite him. Beside him, the black cat suddenly arched its back, raised its tail, and let out a wary growl.

”Don’t eat them either!”

The little witch’s scream still echoed in Zheng Qing’s ear, and in the next second, a strand of hair swayed leisurely, slowly falling within the warlock’s sight.

The pureblood Mi-go’s pink figure suddenly appeared before the warlock, its large, hideous body emitting a dangerous aura, with two forelimbs raised, the sharp claws at the ends only a few centimeters from Zheng Qing’s eyelids, the blade edges flashing a chilling glint.

Zheng Qing fully believed that if the little witch’s scream had been even a moment later, it might not have been just his hair that drifted down with the wind.

Buzz! Buzz buzz!!

The light points on the Mi-go’s forehead wrinkles flickered intensely, incomprehensible, yet Zheng Qing fully understood its intended message.

—Stay away!

A trickle of cold sweat slowly dripped down Zheng Qing’s hairline. The warlock obediently lowered his gun, retreating slowly with the black cat, who had its tail clamped.

Only then did he notice, through his peripheral vision, the dozen or so corpses laying haphazardly in the nearby ruins.

There were both wizards and demons.

Comparing the wounds on those corpses with the shape of the pureblood Mi-go’s limbs and claws, along with the previous encounter, it was easy to infer what had happened.

Further away, dozens of robust Mi-go Emperor Bugs lay on the ground obediently, arranged neatly, appearing to kneel in worship toward the direction of the Mi-go.

”This big bug is quite fun!”

The little witch’s excited voice rang in Zheng Qing’s ear—prompting the warlock to feel a strong urge to retort, as Zhu Si seemed to have some misunderstanding about ”fun,” and the bloody and eerie scene before him was not related to ”fun” at all.

He didn’t want, nor dared, to further provoke that big bug before understanding what was going on.

”...I can command its actions using the mirror!”

”And it can command those other big bugs... just like this!”

Seemingly to prove her point, the little witch flaunted the small mirror in her hand, and the pureblood Mi-go before her quickly swayed its forehead antennae accordingly.

Buzz buzz!!!

The metallic sound, tinged with stickiness, echoed in Zheng Qing’s ears once again. Accompanying it, the dozens of Mi-go Emperor Bugs lying on the ground nearby raised their thick jointed limbs all at once, swinging rhythmically, occasionally spinning in circles.

”What the heck!”

Zheng Qing and the black cat were simultaneously dumbfounded.

The scene before them clearly exceeded their imagination—were those monsters dancing under the little witch’s command? This was not scientific at all, even surpassing the realm of magic!

A buzzing sound came from the vibrating wing sheaths nearby, and Zheng Qing lifted his head. Through the corner of his eye, he saw a newly arrived Mi-go Emperor Bug swiftly approaching from the battlefield’s edge, heading straight for the gathering place of the Mi-go Emperor Bugs, though its landing spot was slightly off.

Before he could recover, the pureblood Mi-go in his sight vanished abruptly in a cloud of rising dust.

”Be careful!”

Zheng Qing shouted internally, rapidly drawing another charm gun from his waist with his left hand, glancing around in search of the big bug’s whereabouts. On his belt, several jade pendants collided with each other from his movement, producing crisp, pleasant sounds.

Bang!

The next second, a heavy crash echoed, and a dark shadow suddenly appeared not far away, pierced by several thin and sharp limbs, firmly nailed to the massive gray-white city wall bricks.

It was the Mi-go Emperor Bug!

It had merely gotten close to the little witch and was immediately attacked by the pureblood Mi-go. The two huge pink monsters overlapped, one slender, the other stout.

The stout Mi-go Emperor Bug’s wing sheaths fluttered weakly, and on its vortex-like forehead tumor, the light spots resembling fly compound eyes flashed haphazardly, as if questioning what the Mi-go was doing.

The slender pureblood Mi-go silently extracted the limbs nailed to the Emperor Bug, watching the pale-red blood gushing from the opponent’s wound, the light spots on its forehead gradually dimmed, then it flapped its wings, sliding back to the little witch to resume the ’small mirror command action’ game.

The dancing Mi-go Emperor Bugs arranged themselves increasingly orderly, their movements more standardized and graceful.

The young wizard felt his throat tighten, swallowed saliva repeatedly, before regaining his voice.

”What the heck.”

He murmured, repeating his earlier self-talk, blankly observing everything happening before him, doubting whether he was dreaming, or caught in an illusory world.

Unlike him, the black cat had already calmed down considerably, using a peculiar and serious gaze to scrutinize the Mi-go.
