High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1716: Chapter 460: Rising and Falling

”Restricting South Mountain, Maintaining Rock-like Firmness!”

The loud incantation sounded in mid-air ahead of the black cat’s magic projectile and before the two young wizards pulled the trigger. Accompanying the spell was a lean figure descending swiftly between the young wizards and the Abomination.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Magic surged, earth energy flowed, and four tall, earth-colored Stone Mountains erupted from the ground, stopping the Abomination’s charge from multiple angles.

Roar!!

The monster roared without any pause, fiercely swinging a massive club against those Stone Mountains, causing the earth-colored glow enveloping them to flicker and leaving numerous web-like cracks, but ultimately stopping the monster’s advance.

The lean figure turned back leisurely, revealing a face studded with bronze pins and rings.

”Is this how you react to a group assault?”

Hilda looked at the two young wizards, visibly displeased, ”Is this all you remember from the spells I taught in class? Besides foolishly pulling the trigger and throwing Talisman paper, don’t you know any other spells?”

”Hilda? What are you doing here!”

”Mr. Alfonso!”

The two young wizards exclaimed in unison.

”Hilda?” The teaching assistant looked at Zheng Qing, his face darkening, finally unable to hold back his roar, ”Though I may look young and quite agreeable, where is your courtesy?”

”Apologies, sir, he is just a bit nervous.” The witch quickly explained.

Zheng Qing awkwardly scratched his head, forgetting he was holding the Charm Gun, its hard body knocking against his skull causing him to wince in pain, but the young cost student sported a radiant smile.

The teacher of the practical class glanced back and forth between the wizard and witch briefly, finally sighing and muttering under his breath, ”Why am I quarreling with a fool.”

As they chatted, the demons across didn’t obediently listen but suddenly sped up their attack; four or five Death Knights riding fierce Mystic Beasts emerged from the crowd, raising their spears and charging forth; a massive eyeball bristling with tentacles slowly rose behind the horde of ghouls, swaying gently like jellyfish seeking food, exuding a mesmerizing deadly glow under the sunlight and thin mist.

Hilda’s summoned Stone Mountains shattered under the spears of the Death Knights, disintegrating into a myriad of glittering light dots. The knights reined in their nightmares, standing tall, with two red glows beneath their helmet visors clearly visible.

”Watch out!”

”Teaching Assistant Sir!”

The two young wizards shouted in alarm simultaneously, Zheng Qing instinctively raised his Charm Gun to provide cover for Hilda, but the face adorned with copper rings slightly shook.

”A fitting spell is the first point.” He raised his hand, steadying the swaying copper rings, simultaneously extending two fingers, ”The second point is confidence in your companions... In the hunting ground... including the battlefield, trust is just as important a concept as courage.”

As he spoke, four figures fell successively from the sky, appearing behind Hilda. Clear incantations and dazzling magic lights flickered one after another, dazzling the eye.

”Rigid Restraint Trap!”

A tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed German Wizard splayed his fingers and pressed toward the ground advancing ghouls, a surge of energy conjuring dozens of magic traps in an instant, the fastest running demons trapped like rabbits ensnared, struggling yet powerless to escape.

Another familiar wizard to Zheng Qing.

Thomas tilted his head, nodding slightly toward the young cost student, ”Do not be careless... On the battlefield, the most important is to learn to keep safe.”

At his sides, two more Wizards donned teaching assistant robes, vaguely recognized by Zheng Qing. One was a slender, purple-haired, gray-eyed witch, the other a broad-shouldered, armoured warlock resembling a black bear.

”Hesitant Walk, Center Shaky!”

”Wolf Struggling Its Whiskers, Perilous Tail!”

”Hesitant Walk, Center like Drunk!”

Under the overlaying of Chaos Spell and Interference Spell, the charging Death Knights and the horde of ghouls staggered as if drunk, spinning in circles like headless flies, maintaining their ferocious appearance, but to Zheng Qing, strangely adding a touch of humor.

This also gave the two young wizards more confidence.

Zheng Qing raised his Law Book, pointing toward a nearby Abomination, shouting loudly, ”I Ma Hui Tui!”

The legs of the Abomination gave way beneath it, collapsing to the ground, failing to grip its massive club, which flew away and crushed a few nearby ghouls into pancakes.

”I’m a Dark Yellow Horse!”

Jiang Yu simultaneously raised her Law Book, aiming at the slightly distant Eyeless Tyrant. Instantly, a visible yellowish spot appeared on the massive eyeball, while the tentacles hovering around it drooped like ropes, losing their former menace.

A light breeze brushed over the battlefield.

Zheng Qing’s nostrils flared, picking up the scent of ’anger’ in the air, recalling a sudden encounter from long ago.

Hilda looked at the young cost student, a malicious smile gracing her lips.

”Quick, cover your ears!” Zheng Qing immediately turned to Jiang Yu.

Only to find the witch already covering her ears.

”Min Tianjiwei, Envelop the Down Earth!”

The low incantation echoed like thunder before a summer storm, carrying a restraining yet explosive emotion as magic gathered from all corners, crescendo with the chanting into a bursting bolt of lightning:

”Yin Qi Lei! Before the Beast Horde!”

The thunderous boom erupted among the demons, the accumulated anger and suppression unleashed like a dam breach, roaring forth indiscriminately, rolling, roaring, screaming, isolating this patch of battlefield in endless trembling seemingly from the outside world.

Even through his hands, Zheng Qing’s ears buzzed fiercely.

The first incantation was ’Heavenly Punishment Curse,’ the latter was the classic ’Thunder Curse,’ both high-level spells against demons, with mighty power. Yet in Zheng Qing’s memory, these were considered independent spells.

Unexpectedly, they could be interconnected like this.

And the effect was astonishing.

”There’s something strange!”

The Black Cat’s slightly piercing voice penetrated his palm, reaching Zheng Qing’s ears, ”That mutated Mi-go! It’s odd... it’s not Mi-go!”

”Victor!” The purple-haired witch screamed.

Zheng Qing followed the sound.

In the battlefield, a pink Mi-go Emperor Bug vibrated its dorsal elytra, colorful hues shimmering between its forehead tumors, bearing the thunder and Heavenly Punishment, rushing forward like an arrow released.

Victor, the warlock resembling a bear in armor, limp and fallen behind the creature, like a puddle of mud.

In the air lingered a faint burnt blood scent.
