Chapter 1715: Chapter 459: The Monster in the Mist

The mist in the field of view becomes more distinct.

But it feels as if there’s an invisible shackle in the air, binding the mist, stopping it a few dozen meters away from the Black Cat and the two young wizards, constantly rolling, accumulating, and becoming thicker.

Dealing with the mist, the Charm Gun’s effectiveness seemed somewhat wasted and rendered ineffective. A shot could open a large hole in the mist, but that hole would soon be filled by new mist.

Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu flipped through the law book, quickly discussing, while copying down magic to dispel the mist on the blank pages—adapting to the situation, adjusting the spells in the law book at any time, which is the normal approach for most wizards in battle. Not like Zheng Qing used to do, recklessly using Charm Guns, talismans, or using something like a binding spell in various ways.

It took only a short time for the two young wizards to determine the order of the spells.

Throughout the process, the Black Cat did not give any opinions or suggestions, only occasionally spitting out a few fireballs into the rolling white mist, slightly quieting the increasingly closer roars.

”Bright and rising sun, gentle valley wind!”

Jiang Yu was the first to raise the law book in her hand, chanting the spell loudly, accompanied by magical fluctuations, her law book rose with heavy, pale yellow ripples, spreading in all directions, with a gentle warm breeze mixed in these ripples, blowing directly towards the rolling mist.

The originally accumulating thicker white mist, upon being exposed to this soft, warm wind, immediately lost some of its cold hardness, becoming more fluffy.

Following the witch, Zheng Qing also raised the law book in his hand, shouting:

”Not the wind issuing forth, end of the wind and storm!”

Strand by strand a strong wind gushed out from the warlock’s law book, as if wild horses galloping on the grassland, whistling and converging into an unstoppable force, rushing forward.

If the previous spell made the white mist become fluffy, then the second spell tore those fluffy mist into fragments. The fierce wind, centered around Zheng Qing, swept in all directions, the great wizards in mid-air could clearly see the wind eyes and tornadoes appearing on the ground.

”I remember they are first-year students?” The former headmaster of Alpha Academy stood on the shoulder of the giant ape with three heads and eight arms, pulling back the long hair on his forehead, a hint of appreciation in his eyes: ”This kind of talent is stronger than most Alpha children.”

”Not bad... always lacking some training.” Professor Yao chuckled, but his three pairs of eyes never stopped staring intently at the Mist Captain and the two great wizard demons opposite: ”Blood and fire are always the best nutrients for growth.”

”No need to stare at me so intently.” The Mist Captain evidently realized the meaning behind Professor Yao’s gaze, raising both hands in demonstration: ”I haven’t moved a finger... Those mist below has nothing to do with me, not even a copper coin.”

”Bah.”

The headmaster of Starry Sky Academy spat at the opposite: ”Not a single letter can be trusted from the words of demons. If those mist below have nothing to do with you, I can guarantee to only kill you once.”

”That’s quite a disappointing promise.” The captain glanced sideways, lowered his head again, his gaze wandering between the two ’Black Mountain Goats’ and the roaring wind eyes.

With the second spell tearing the mist apart, Jiang Yu raised the law book again, chanting the third spell:

”Flowing fire in July, the great wind whistling!”

In the sky, the two suns seemed to be affected by this spell, flickering. Zheng Qing squinted up, raising his head, a few sparks fell from the sky, traversing a long distance in an instant, appearing in the mist.

Orange-red fireballs exploded between the mist, the white mist that had been previously torn apart was roasted dry by the flowing fire, following on the tails of those firelights, the wind grew even stronger.

The wind aided the fire, igniting far and wide, the dry willow branches crackling and popping in the sound, like urgent drumbeats in a march, urging the mist to dissipate faster.

Mist is water vapor, restrained by wind and fire, the ancients knew to light fire to burn the mist, and use wind to drive the mist away. Under the several spells of Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu, the white mist surrounding the young wizards soon dispersed and vanished.

The attackers hidden in the mist also revealed their hideous faces one by one.

The first to gather were some monsters with reverse joints, sharp teeth and claws, slim bodies, exuding a putrid odor. Their skulls resemble hyenas, their rolled-back eyes and dull grey skin declaring their undead identity.

But unlike most slow-moving undead, these creatures are agile and extremely cunning. When under the cover of mist, they howled, hid, moved in groups. When the mist dispersed, they immediately scattered into nets, forming teams of varying sizes, crossing towards the Black Cat.

”They are Arab ghouls.”

Jiang Yu clearly breathed a sigh of relief: ”They are minor monsters of cannon-fodder level... I remember someone once said, if a wizard doesn’t kill a few ghouls during their growth, then their life is not complete.”

”Isn’t it a bit of a waste to use the Charm Gun on them?” Zheng Qing’s fingers hovered between the law book and the Charm Gun, hesitantly asking.

The witch immediately realized the cunning nature of those demons, cursed under her breath and sighed: ”In fact, Thunder Curse is the best method to deal with them... Charm Gun against Kappa is an absolute waste; but there isn’t a more suitable spell in our law book either.”

”Whipberry!”

Zheng Qing experimented with the Binding Spell, several vines rushed out from the void, like hunting snakes, quickly entangling a few ghouls close by, binding their reverse joints and necks together.

”A palliative, not a cure.” The witch shook her head, casually throwing out a jade pendant, which exploded mid-air into a huge circle of fire, blocking in front of the ghoul horde.

”Don’t focus on those minor creatures,” the deep voice of the Black Cat sounded in the ears of the two young wizards: ”Look further... the abominations, undead knights, and eyeless tyrants following the ghoul horde are the opponents you need to be concerned with.”

As if annotating the Black Cat’s words.

Outside the circle of fire, sudden unsettling howls and screams erupted from within the ghoul horde, but soon, the chaos subsided, and behind the firelight, appeared tall and fierce figures one after another.

One figure even ignored the circle of fire’s threat, brazenly crossing the flames. One of its hands dragged a heavy wooden club, while the other grasped a leg of some ghoul, casually munching on it while walking, its mouth smeared with the fresh blood of its companion.

”Overestimated their moral standards.” Zheng Qing murmured, tightening his grip on the Charm Gun.

”Moral standards?” The witch raised her hand, tidied her somewhat messed up hair, tucking it under her collar while letting out a light laugh: ”What kind of morals do demons have?”

Roar!!

The abomination suddenly roared, then quickly raised the massive wooden club in its hand, dragging its heavy steps, charging towards the young wizards.
