Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 594: Chapter 318: Open Sesame

Lucas Harlow’s gaze drifted over the engagement ring on Lawrence Winters’ hand. After a moment of silence, he said, ”Edward told me you’re already married?”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

Never expected Lucas Harlow’s first words would be about this.

Lawrence Winters said with a half-smile, ”No personal talk during work hours.”

To change the subject, she smoothly took out a proposal and a profit forecast, placing them in front of Lucas Harlow, saying, ”Lucas, this is the proposal from the advertising department yesterday. It’s for the post-promotion of your fantasy drama. See if you have any opinions?”

”And here’s a profit forecast from the marketing department for selling the drama. The national TV festival is in a few days, and by then our company will be pushing your drama as a key promotion, hoping it can fetch a good price.”

Lucas Harlow saw that Lawrence Winters didn’t want to talk about that matter and had to follow her lead in changing the topic.

He casually glanced through the proposal that Lawrence Winters handed over, nodded, and said, ”I have no objections, you can decide.”

Then he glanced at the profit forecast, frowning at the exaggerated zeros, and said, ”...Can it really sell for that much?”

”Of course it can! It has to!” Lawrence Winters wouldn’t let Lucas Harlow utter ”can’t,” ”We’re still looking for a special effects company for post-production, but there’s already a big budget set aside, how could it not look amazing?”

”So it will definitely create a ratings frenzy!”

Lucas Harlow saw Lawrence Winters’ confidence, his lips twitched, and said, ”Actually, that special effects budget isn’t too much to say it’s a lot, but also not too little, it’s hard to find a special effects company.”

”Yes, completely hiring the most reputable Micro Tower abroad would probably not be enough, but we can’t give up, let’s see how the negotiations go.”

”If Micro Tower doesn’t work out, I’m not planning to look for any foreign special effects companies, I’ll go directly to domestic ones.”

Lawrence Winters spread her hands, ”If one domestic special effects company can’t handle it, we can find several and have them work together. This amount of money is enough to hire five top domestic special effects companies.”

After saying that, she sighed, ”Why are domestic special effects companies so much cheaper than foreign ones? Our technology isn’t that far behind, is it?”

Lucas Harlow shook his head helplessly, ”I don’t understand this aspect, you should ask someone from the technical department.”

He sat in Lawrence Winters’ office for a while, finally saying, ”Once this drama is filmed, I want to take a break, is that okay?”

”Sure, of course. How many days do you want off?” Lawrence Winters said with a cheerful smile, ”I’ll see what projects to line up for you next, by the way, do you want to go on a variety show?”

Lucas Harlow shook his head, ”Don’t want to.”

”Then, continue with films? You still have a slot for another movie this year.”

”No, I already did a TV drama, my tasks for this year are more than completed.” Lucas Harlow’s gaze unconsciously drifted back to Lawrence Winters’ ring-wearing finger.

”So, are you married?” he asked again.

Lawrence Winters had to say, ”Yes, registered and licensed, haven’t held a banquet yet, when we do, you’re welcome to attend, Lucas.”

”Send me an invitation then.” Lucas Harlow pursed his lips, ”I’m leaving now.”

When he left, his back seemed a bit desolate.

Lawrence Winters thought Lucas Harlow was showing this ”empty, lonely, cold” behavior because he had too little work.

She planned to make arrangements for Lucas Harlow, give him a week’s vacation, no more than that.

The rest of the time, he had to be on set filming!

No filming, no pay, anything that affected Lawrence Winters’ earnings was not allowed.

Lawrence Winters started browsing through scripts sent by the talent department, all crews hoping to cast Lucas Harlow.

She read from morning until afternoon but couldn’t find a script she was keen on.

Whether it was movies or TV dramas, none seemed suitable for Lucas Harlow.

Lawrence Winters had mapped out a career path for Lucas Harlow: first rise to the ranks of a top-tier star, then choose a few hit movie scripts to vie for box office success.

Once box office goals exploded, shoot one or two art films to win awards, ideally achieving a grand slam in film awards to truly secure a top position.

Then she could demand high pay for Lucas Harlow, like an over one billion per project fee...

Lawrence Winters’ plan was so delightful, she almost wanted to stamp it as ”Open Sesame.”

Putting down the mouse, she leaned back in her computer chair, took a satisfied breath, and sipped her coconut milk.

Just then, her phone rang.

It was a call from Kenneth Osborne.

Lawrence Winters looked at the time on her phone, it was just past 3 PM, swiped to answer, and asked, ”Kenneth, why are you calling so early? Are you getting off work early?”

Kenneth Osborne said, ”I’m already downstairs at your office building, come down quickly. Maddie is going into labor.”

Lawrence Winters immediately stood up, ”What?! Going into labor?! So soon?!”

”Not soon, I heard from over there that she’s over a week past her due date before going into labor. If she didn’t go into labor soon, they were going to send her for a C-section.”

Lawrence Winters hurriedly packed her things back into her bag, shut her computer, and quickly texted Edward Foster: Edward, I have something urgent, leaving work early today.

She rushed out of the office, anxiously entered the elevator, frantically pressed the floor button, and quickly reached the lobby.

When Edward Foster saw the text and rushed over to find her, she was already seated in Kenneth Osborne’s car.

Edward Foster called her, ”Lawrence, what happened? Do you need my help?”

Lawrence Winters chuckled, ”My friend is having a baby, how could you help?”

Edward Foster misunderstood, thinking Lawrence Winters was having a baby, his heart jumped almost right out of his throat.

But he quickly came to his senses, realizing it was her friend, not her, having a baby, and his heart slowly settled back down.

He took a deep breath, laughed, and said, ”Go then, drive safely, and if you need help, feel free to call me. While I can’t deliver babies, I know some quite famous doctors, including obstetricians.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

”Edward, your connections are really extensive...”

Edward Foster laughed heartily, ”That’s thanks to my dad, he’s the one with all the connections, among the doctors he knows, a few are well-renowned obstetricians in the country!”
