Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 584: Chapter 313: One’s Own Child Is Always the Best (Second Update)

With ten million, you could buy a private jet.

Aiden Sheldon closed his eyes, leaned back in the seat to rest, and said, ”It was Betty. She visited the set and told the crew you’d compensate double for any losses.”

Autumn Stetford finally snapped out of it, standing up from the couch in surprise: ”No way?! They really asked for money?! Betty was just visiting Archie’s set, only for five days, and they’re asking for ten million?!——Who gave them the guts?!”

Ruby Sheldon was also stunned and hurried over, anxiously saying, ”Mom, mom! Did Lawrence really ask you for money?! I thought she was just joking! I really didn’t know she’d do this!”

Autumn Stetford frowned, ”What are you talking about? What Lawrence? Which Lawrence? Is it that Lawrence Winters?”

”Yeah.” Ruby Sheldon nodded obediently and walked over to Autumn Stetford, head lowered, ”Mom, I really didn’t do anything. They were filming, and I don’t know why they want so much money.”

”Weren’t you visiting Archie? What does Lawrence Winters have to do with it?” Autumn Stetford was puzzled, once again feeling like this girl was appearing way too often around their family.

If you’re not in the same circle but keep having ”coincidental” encounters, it’s definitely not by chance.

Ruby Sheldon pursed her lips, saying: ”It was fine initially. Today Lawrence visited the set too and saw me with uncle. She wasn’t very happy and said I was wasting uncle’s time, causing the crew a loss. Then she even used a calculator to show me, but my math is bad and I only remember her calculating a ’five million’ amount.”

”She also said five million doubled is ten million.” Ruby Sheldon lifted her head, teary-eyed: ”But she promised me! She said she wouldn’t ask mom for money!”

Autumn Stetford quickly comforted her, ”No worries, no worries, just ten million, that’s all. Consider it like brushing off a beggar. Let me tell you, that Lawrence Winters has shifty eyes, don’t get involved with her, be careful so she doesn’t lead you astray.”

”Yeah, I understand.” Ruby Sheldon nodded firmly, ”She says she hates Dad, I hate her too! Whoever messes with Mom and Dad, I’ll mess with them!”

Hearing this, Autumn Stetford sneered: ”She hates your dad? Yet she still had the nerve to personally ask him for money. Look, I’m the one who mentioned compensation, but she didn’t come to me, she went to your dad.”

”These young girls, they don’t respect themselves, just want to take shortcuts, relying on a bit of beauty to try and seduce rich uncles, it’s truly shameless.”

Ruby Sheldon widened her eyes, looking at Autumn Stetford, thinking that Mom must really dislike Lawrence Winters because she had never heard Autumn speak so harshly before.

Autumn Stetford perhaps realized her lapse too, and rubbed Ruby Sheldon’s head, saying, ”Alright, go take a bath, I’ll have someone book a restaurant.”

Ruby Sheldon obediently walked away.

After she left, Aiden Sheldon on the other side said, ”It wasn’t Lawrence Winters who called me, it was Edward Foster. You and Betty misunderstood her.”

Autumn Stetford awkwardly chuckled, ”Oh, that’s good, seems that girl isn’t beyond redemption after all.”

Aiden Sheldon furrowed his brows, wanting to say something but eventually remaining silent, and said instead, ”I’ve got work, I’ll come home after I’m done.”

Autumn Stetford quickly said, ”Betty wants to eat foreign food, I’ve already promised her, the whole family should eat together.”

Aiden Sheldon thought for a moment, saying, ”Alright, I’ll come back soon. Shouldn’t we invite Ryan too?”

Autumn Stetford exhaled in relief, smiling: ”I’ll invite him soon. Thanks for today. Edward Foster should have just called me directly, wouldn’t I have given it?”

”He probably didn’t have your contact, only mine.” Aiden Sheldon said with a smile, his voice hoarse, ”Alright, I won’t talk to you anymore. I’m going to smoke a cigarette, clear my mind.”

”Don’t smoke, it’s bad for your health.” Autumn Stetford said, glancing at the cigarette between her fingers before silently pressing it into the ashtray.

Smoking really helps relieve stress when feeling anxious.

Once the call ended, Autumn Stetford took a deep breath and rang to call Secretary Liu inside, saying, ”Reserve a private room for us tonight. That famous foreign food restaurant, the one we’ve been to before, what’s it called...?”

Secretary Liu said, ”I know the name, I have their manager’s phone number. I’ll book it for you now.”

After Secretary Liu made the reservation, Autumn Stetford called Ryan Sheldon, telling him to come home for dinner together.

Ryan Sheldon has been dating Miss Three Billion every day lately, inseparable.

He originally didn’t want to come home, but then thought that Miss Three Billion hadn’t met his parents yet, so he decided to take the opportunity today.

Ryan Sheldon said, ”Mom, can I bring a friend along?”

Autumn Stetford laughed, ”Sure, but you’ve only been back in the country a few days and already have a friend to bring to a family dinner?”

”Of course,” Ryan Sheldon was very pleased, ”She’s the girl I’m pursuing, don’t embarrass me!”

”You actually like a local girl?” Autumn Stetford was both surprised and delighted, ”That’s great! That’s great!”

Ryan Sheldon went overseas in middle school, having little contact with people back home.

Autumn Stetford was always worried he’d find a foreign girl as a wife.

And Ryan Sheldon indeed has dated several foreign girls, from white to black, all of them beautiful, but Autumn Stetford wasn’t keen on having mixed-race grandchildren.

Now seeing Ryan Sheldon willing to date a local girl, Autumn Stetford almost wanted to go light incense for the ancestors.

...

In the evening she sat in the private room at the restaurant with Aiden Sheldon and Ruby Sheldon, waiting for Ryan Sheldon and his girlfriend, Autumn Stetford was very excited.

She lightly twirled a pre-dinner drink in her hand, smiling: ”Ryan finally did something reliable, I’m relieved.”

Aiden Sheldon smiled, ”Your standards for Ryan are so low, as long as he finds a local girl to marry it’s fine. You have strict requirements for Nathan.”

”It’s not the same.” Autumn Stetford said dismissively, ”Nathan is our heir, as long as Ryan gets his life sorted!”

Ruby Sheldon blinked her big eyes, glancing at Autumn Stetford, then at Aiden Sheldon, and said plaintively, ”Mom, you have standards for big brother and second brother, do you have any for me?”
