Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 579: Chapter 310: I Never Talk Money with Others (First Update)

When it comes to smooth-talking, Lawrence Winters is a professional; it’s what they do for a living, it’s how they make money.

As soon as she walked in, she defined their sneaky conversation as a compliment on her!

Do you dare not give her some praise?

Even if they were hurling insults just a moment ago, now they have to pinch their noses and swallow their pride to compliment her in person.

Ruby Sheldon hadn’t expected Lawrence Winters to be so bold, thinking to herself how thick-skinned Lawrence is. Is there anyone else who so actively seeks compliments?

She curled her lips into a smile and said, ”Yes, we were just saying how smart Sister Lawrence is, with so many friends who like you!”

Lucas Harlow glanced at her, smiled, and nodded, ”Yes, that’s right.”

”Really?” Lawrence thought to herself, if I hadn’t heard it with my own ears just now, I might have believed your nonsense.

She smiled and said, ”Oh, am I just smart? Miss Sheldon, aren’t you going to praise my beauty? I’m quite pretty, right?”

Lawrence mischievously looked at Lucas Harlow and said, ”Lucas, tell me, who’s prettier, Miss Sheldon or me?”

Now that’s a loaded question.

Ruby Sheldon even stopped smiling, looking at Lucas Harlow nervously.

Lucas Harlow was at a loss, waving his hand, ”What’s there to compare? You’re both beautiful, but in your own unique ways.”

Lawrence also knew when to stop and didn’t push any further.

She clapped her hands, ”Alright, Lucas, you handled that perfectly. Thank you. So, how’s your recent filming going? I heard from Jason that you haven’t been filming recently?”

Lawrence said this as she took out her phone and opened the calculator to start calculating costs.

”Look, you haven’t been filming for five days. Although the crew tried to film scenes with supporting actors, you’re the lead, and often they can’t film without you. We don’t use stand-ins or green screens, so everyone is just idling.”

”Money flows like water in the crew. A day’s halt is a huge sum! If this continues, we’ll overspend the budget by too much, affecting our earnings!”

Lawrence looked at Lucas Harlow with bright eyes, her obsidian-black gaze resembling a vast starry sky, seemingly pitch black yet twinkling with an ancient light that captivates people.

Lucas Harlow constantly warned himself not to look into Lawrence’s eyes too much; it’s easy to get lost in them.

Because when he looks into those eyes, he can’t help but agree to all her requests.

As long as she asks, as long as she wants.

He knows he will agree.

Lucas Harlow wasn’t an exception this time either. He glanced at her, shifted his gaze, and said, ”You can ask Betty for that. Her mother said that the Sheldon Family will compensate double for any losses caused by Betty.”

”Really? Double!” Lawrence perked up as if hearing it for the first time, though she already knew. She just wanted to squeeze Lucas into talking to the Sheldon Family to ask for money.

Lucas Harlow nodded and said to Ruby Sheldon, ”Isn’t that right, Betty? Didn’t your mom say that in the video?”

Ruby Sheldon was a bit dazed, ”Uh, she did say that, but I’m not involved in these things. You can ask my mom, or Mrs. Zheng, her personal secretary. She’s a very kind middle-aged lady.”

Lawrence felt like she was courting trouble, yet in front of Ruby Sheldon and the delayed crew, she still seriously said, ”Miss Sheldon, do you have Mrs. Zheng’s contact information?”

Ruby Sheldon was once again in a daze, ”...Ah, do you really need to contact her? Is it necessary?”

”Yes, why not.” Lawrence waggled her phone’s calculator display in front of Ruby Sheldon, ”See, this is all silver going down the drain!”

Ruby Sheldon smiled slightly, looking innocent as she said, ”Really? I’m not good at math and not interested in numbers. But do you really want to ask my mom for money?”

”Have I delayed your work?” Ruby Sheldon looked at Lucas Harlow with confusion, ”Uncle, why didn’t you tell me? I thought you were just taking a break with no scenes to film...”

”If I had known, I definitely wouldn’t have disrupted you and would’ve let you film!”

Lucas Harlow touched his nose, thinking that with the young lady visiting the set, how could he just leave to film?

He feared that as soon as he walked out, she’d complain to her mom, and within five minutes, her mom would be sending people over to the crew to cause trouble...

It’s something Autumn Stetford had done before, though not targeting Lucas Harlow’s crew.

Lucas Harlow sighed and said, ”It did cause delays, but Betty didn’t know, so let’s forget it.”

”That won’t do,” Lawrence said with a bright smile, ”Business is business, not a family matter.”

”Mrs. Sheldon is a reasonable person, and since she said so, she’s mentally prepared. But this time, let’s drop it. Since you insist and it’s the first time, I’ll give Lucas some face and won’t ask for money.”

”Anyway, we only lost five million, a hundred thousand per day. Let’s hope the show sells well to recoup that.”

Lucas Harlow knew that Lawrence was concerned about her commission.

The more profit the show makes, the more commission she gets.

Currently, without earning a penny, and with an extra five million in costs, even if the show sells well in the future, the profit will still be five million less.

For Lawrence, this ”little money-grubber,” it’s naturally ”heart-wrenching.”

Lucas Harlow was just about to console Lawrence.

Ruby Sheldon stood up, sat next to Lucas Harlow on the other side, tilted her head, and said, ”Sister Lawrence, you don’t really need to calculate so precisely.”

”Girls who are so particular with money look unattractive, really. You’re so pretty and smart; how can you not understand this principle?”

”My mom taught me from a young age that arguing over money is very low, very tasteless.”

”I never talk money with anyone, it’s too boring.”
