Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 582: Chapter 312: He Thinks He Was Too Much of a Gentleman Before

Edward Foster hurriedly came and went, without any time to meet Lucas Harlow.

Therefore, he didn’t know Ruby Sheldon had arrived.

As Edward Foster started the car, he asked curiously, ”What’s it got to do with her?”

”She stayed with the crew for five days, and Lucas spent five days with her without filming. The crew finished shooting other scenes and is just waiting for him.”

”Five million a day, so...”

Lawrence Winters shrugged, ”But I heard from Jason that Mrs. Sheldon said if the crew incurs any losses, they’ll compensate double. I did the math — if the Sheldon Family compensates ten million, we could allocate another five million to special effects funding.”

Edward Foster found it hard to maintain his composure and awkwardly said, ”Did you really believe Mrs. Sheldon when she said that?”

”Hah,” Lawrence Winters shot Edward Foster a disdainful glance, ”I knew that’s what you all thought.”

”Everyone in the crew thought so, which is why no one mentioned seeking compensation from the Sheldon Family.”

”Well, it’s the Sheldon Family. Who would dare to offend them? Who’s foolish enough to cross The Wealthiest, right?”

Lawrence Winters exaggeratedly waved his hand, ”But do you think by doing this, the Sheldons will appreciate it? They don’t even recognize you, seriously!”

Edward Foster chuckled, ”Of course they recognize me. My family and theirs are acquainted, barely considered old friends.”

”So what? Maybe they only know your name but can’t even remember your face. Is that worth ten million?” Lawrence Winters clicked his tongue twice, ”Seems being The Wealthiest really is something else; even looking at them costs ten million.”

Edward Foster, reddened by Lawrence Winters’ ridicule, couldn’t help but say, ”On one hand, there’s the benefit of getting along with the Sheldon Family, and on the other, it’s only ten million, which might lead to no further actions. Isn’t the choice obvious?”

”Sorry, I choose ten million.” Lawrence Winters rolled his eyes, ”If I weren’t afraid of retaliation from the Sheldon Family, I would have called Mrs. Sheldon for money ages ago.”

Edward Foster shook his head, ”The Sheldon Family wouldn’t retaliate over such a thing, but they wouldn’t have a good impression of you either.”

”Really? Just a bad impression?” Lawrence Winters started calculating, ”If I went to ask for money, would that mean I offended the little Princess of the Sheldon Family?”

”That’s different,” Edward Foster knew the Sheldon family well, ”My dad says the eldest Sheldon is very clear on business except for offending the little Princess.”

”And this matter, although triggered by the little Princess, wouldn’t count as offending her, right?”

Lawrence Winters thought carefully but still hesitated.

Because she’s worried Ruby Sheldon might cry in front of her parents...

Wait!

Lawrence Winters suddenly sat up straight, as if awakening from a dream, ”Oh my! I’ve already offended her! If I don’t ask for the money too, I’d be at a huge loss! Anyway, since the Sheldon Family would fix me, I must get that ten million first!”

Edward Foster was bewildered, ”What are you talking about? I’m finding it hard to keep up with you.”

”Just drive, let’s get that ten million first.”

Lawrence Winters was eager, holding her phone, and asked Edward Foster, ”Is the company really out of cash? The TV series won’t sell?”

Edward Foster furrowed his brows again, saying, ”It’s bizarre. Those films are just regular urban love dramas, not touching any taboos, and starring actors who draw viewers, yet I don’t know why.”

”Previously there were several buyers inquiring, now there’s not a single one, they’ve all disappeared.”

Lawrence Winters pondered for a while, ”So someone’s meddling. Why would they do that? Competitors?”

Edward Foster glanced at Lawrence Winters, turned the steering wheel towards the road back to the city, his voice slightly sinister, ”There are competitors, but not letting us sell films is cutting off our financial road.”

”Cutting off one’s financial road is akin to killing one’s parents.” Lawrence Winters nodded knowingly, ”Why don’t we have someone check it out?”

Edward Foster nodded, ”I’ll find someone.”

The two returned to the company and entered Edward Foster’s office together.

Lawrence Winters sat across from Edward Foster’s desk, smiling, ”Young Foster, I’ve thought it through. About Ruby Sheldon, why don’t we start with courtesy before force.”

”Courtesy before force?” Edward Foster didn’t understand.

”Yes. First, privately inform the Sheldon Family, remind them to compensate for our losses. If they ignore it, we’ll make a big deal on social media.” Lawrence Winters smiled, ”People on those rich lists care so much about face, once it gets big, they know the consequences.”

Edward Foster thought for a moment, then still shook his head, ”Let’s try privately informing them. Don’t make it big.”

He picked up the phone in front of Lawrence Winters, saying, ”I should be the one to contact them, you don’t speak. Once the Sheldon Family decides to fix you, you won’t be able to resist.”

”Are you not afraid anymore, Mr. Foster?” Lawrence Winters teased with a sly smile, ”Weren’t you saying just now that you’d let it go?”

”But our spokesperson insists on accountability...” Edward Foster said with a smirk as he dialed Aiden Sheldon’s private secretary’s number.

Aiden Sheldon and Autumn Stetford both have several private secretaries, whom they hired with their own money to handle personal affairs.

”Hello Secretary Liu, I’m Edward Foster from the Foster Consortium’s NewHuman Entertainment Company. I was wondering, is Mr. Sheldon free recently? I would like to have a word with him.” As soon as the call connected, Edward Foster transformed into a polite and courteous gentleman.

Secretary Liu on the other end quickly replied, ”Oh, it’s little Mr. Foster. Hello, what matter do you have for Mr. Sheldon? I can relay the message. If Mr. Sheldon has time, he’ll call you.”

”That’s great. Here’s the situation...” Edward Foster concisely explained how Ruby Sheldon’s visit to the set caused delays, and then he lamented, ”This kind of thing really shouldn’t trouble Mr. Sheldon. If it were just a day or two, I could afford it. But five consecutive days... plus, the film we’re producing hasn’t sold yet, and there’s no cash flow, so I’m forced...”

Secretary Liu chuckled and said, ”Really? But Miss Ruby’s matters are usually handled by those on Madam’s side. However, Mr. Sheldon does indeed spoil Miss Ruby greatly...”

Edward Foster had the speakerphone on, so Lawrence Winters could hear Secretary Liu’s voice from the other side.

Seeing Secretary Liu seemed to be evading, Lawrence Winters couldn’t help but pinch his voice, saying in a delicate tone, ”But Madam Sheldon promised double compensation when she called our crew... It’s surprising that a prominent consortium like the Sheldon Family, the nation’s Wealthiest, wants to default on even a million...”

Edward Foster gave Lawrence Winters an astonished look, stifling a laugh, and softly reprimanded her, ”What nonsense are you talking? The Sheldon Consortium is top-notch in terms of credibility, and Madam Sheldon once ran the consortium. Do you think she’s the kind of ignorant woman who only boasts?”

Secretary Liu understood that Edward Foster and Lawrence Winters were playing good cop, bad cop to put pressure on him.

But upon hearing Autumn Stetford had mentioned ”double compensation,” he realized he couldn’t afford to gloss over this matter anymore.

He quickly said, ”Madam guaranteed it? Then there’s no problem; I’ll report to Mr. Sheldon right away. Please hold on, I’ll hang up first.”

At this time, Aiden Sheldon was working from home.

Upon hearing Secretary Liu’s words, he pondered for a moment and said, ”Go and ask the people around Betty whether she went to Lucas’ film set, and for how many days.”

”If what little Mr. Foster said is true, transfer them a million from Madam’s personal account, not the company’s funds.”

Speaking, he handed Secretary Liu a note, carrying his instructions and signed it.

This was authorization.

Secretary Liu immediately contacted Ruby Sheldon’s nanny and security personnel, and even checked with Autumn Stetford’s private secretary.

Confirming Edward Foster’s account was accurate and that Ruby Sheldon was on her way back, Secretary Liu promptly reported back to Aiden Sheldon.

Aiden Sheldon, without lifting his head, said, ”Got it, go transfer the money.”

Thus, in the afternoon, there was an extra million in the bank account of the Foster Consortium’s NewHuman Entertainment Ltd.

Edward Foster was the first to receive the news from the financial department, overjoyed. He specifically called Lawrence Winters to say, ”Let’s celebrate our successful rights protection! Shall I treat you to a meal?”

Lawrence Winters looked at her phone, laughing, ”There’s still an hour left until off work, little Mr. Foster. I’m going home to eat with my family. Something like this doesn’t warrant a celebration; it’s just part of the job.”

Edward Foster was a bit disappointed. He thought of seeing Lawrence Winters wearing her engagement ring again today, and gloomily said, ”Lawrence, did you make up with Kenneth Osborne again?”

”Yes.” Lawrence Winters didn’t hide it, laughing, ”Not only have we reconciled, but we’ve also registered for marriage. When it’s time for the banquet, you’ve got to grace us with your presence, little Mr. Foster!”

”What?! You’re already married?!” Edward Foster exclaimed in shock, ”You’re only twenty, right? Why get married so soon?!”

”When you meet the right person, you get married...” Lawrence Winters happily put on her Bluetooth headset, simultaneously searching for overseas special effects companies’ performance and quotes, she said, ”Besides, we were engaged; marriage was naturally the logical step forward. Or did we get engaged just for fun?”

Edward Foster’s heart felt like it was wrung out of vinegar, with teeth almost aching from the sourness.

He gritted his teeth and said, ”So, when will the wedding be? Give me a date so I can prepare a gift.”

”Haha! Little Mr. Foster wants to send a gift! I’ll gladly accept it!” Lawrence Winters laughed, ”Very soon, probably within the next two months.”

Edward Foster, in chaotic emotion, acknowledged with a ”Hmm,” hung up, and opened the computer to start searching for sports cars.

Lawrence Winters no longer has her car; he could gift her a sports car for her wedding.

Edward Foster thought grimly, wishing for her to speed out of her marriage with Kenneth Osborne in the sports car!

He felt he had been too gentlemanly before.

Because Lawrence Winters quickly found a boyfriend, followed by engagement, with her boyfriend becoming her fiancé.

Therefore, he pursued her somewhat discreetly, fearful of being despised by Lawrence Winters for pestering too much.

As a result, now that the fiancé has directly become the husband, if he didn’t act quickly, a child might be born soon!

Why does this girl never take the customary path?

Getting married so young!
