Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 580: Chapter 311: The Most Vulgar Person in the Country (Second Extra, 600+ Monthly Tickets)

Lawrence Winters felt sour again, like acetic acid.

It’s really nice to have money, you can boldly not ”talk about money.”

She said with a half-smile, ”Really? But what if you want to buy something? You don’t mention money, just take it and leave?”

Lawrence Winters clapped her hands and said exaggeratedly, ”Oh! I get it! That’s how princesses in ancient times were! They saw something on the street, took it and left, and naturally, eunuchs would pay the bill!”

Ruby Sheldon said reservedly, ”It’s not that exaggerated, but if I want something, my maid makes a call, they’ll deliver it, I sign, and someone settles the bill at the end of the month.”

Lawrence Winters gave her a thumbs-up, ”Truly wealthy, I’ve learned something.”

She spread her hands, ”Miss Sheldon really lives in a honeyed world, twenty years old and still cared for by a maid, unlike us! Common folks, all rely on our own struggle; no work, no food!”

She stood up and said to Lucas Harlow, ”We can’t delay any longer, you must finish shooting the remaining scenes today. After wrapping, there’s post-production, which also takes a lot of time. Time is money; we must seize every minute!”

After saying that, she turned and left.

Ruby Sheldon watched Lawrence Winters’ back and said wistfully, ”Uncle, I’m a bit disappointed... I originally thought Miss Winters was an extraordinary person, but it turns out... she talks about money non-stop.”

Lucas Harlow: ”...”

Not wanting to continue the topic, he said lightly, ”Betty, if talking about money is vulgar, your mom and dad might be the most vulgar people in the country.”

Ruby Sheldon covered her mouth in shock, her eyes wide open: ”Uncle! How can you talk about my mom and dad like that?! My mom is the eldest daughter of the Stetford Family, just like you! And my dad, no need to mention, being a Sheldon, does he even need to talk about money?!”

Lucas Harlow shook his head helplessly, ”Betty, your dad is the Wealthiest in the country, think about it, if he didn’t talk about money, how could he do business? How could he make money? How could he maintain his position as the Wealthiest?”

After saying that, seeing Ruby Sheldon looking quite affected, Lucas Harlow had to comfort her, ”But Betty, you’re different, you’re the only daughter of the Wealthiest, you never have to talk about money, not in your whole life.”

Ruby Sheldon smiled bashfully and said, ”Uncle, you’re really good with words. My heart was fluttering just now, I almost thought you didn’t like me anymore!”

”You’re my niece, how could I dislike you?” Lucas Harlow cleverly replaced ”like” with ”not dislike.”

In the past, he would have just accepted it.

But now, thinking about the earlier scene, he was growing increasingly critical of Ruby Sheldon.

...

Lawrence Winters came out from Lucas Harlow’s side wanting to find Edward Foster, but after looking around, she didn’t see him. She only found a group of people whispering at the door of a meeting room, some even leaning against the door eavesdropping.

She looked around and only saw Jason talking with a few crew movers.

Lawrence Winters walked over and said softly, ”Jason, what’s happening? What is everyone doing?”

Jason pulled a long face, ”...The crew has run out of money, and they’re looking for Mr. Edward for funds. Mr. Edward said they have already gone way over budget, and can’t add more, or they’d incur losses...”

Lawrence Winters’ heart skipped a beat, ”How did it get to this point?”

”Our Lucas is shooting a TV series for the first time, and besides hiring top screenwriters to adapt the script, everything from costumes to props is extremely particular, striving for perfection, which led to the budget overrunning again and again.” Jason shook his head, ”But the money from the Harlow Family is fixed; they won’t add more, so only our company had to cover the over-budget expenses.”

Lawrence Winters understood.

She asked softly, ”How much is needed this time?”

”Five million.” Jason shrugged, ”Because of the budget overrun, the crew tightly controlled the last month’s expenses, matching them with the budget daily, not approving a bit more. And then...”

He glanced toward Lucas Harlow’s room, ”And then the Sheldon Family’s little princess came and delayed everything by five days.”

That was exactly as Lawrence Winters had calculated.

She sighed and sent Edward Foster a message.

Soon, Edward Foster replied with a message informing her where he was having a meeting and inviting her to come in.

Lawrence Winters stood at the meeting room door.

She immediately knocked on the door.

Someone inside opened the door, letting her in.

The eavesdropping people outside, of course, scattered awkwardly, unable to continue listening there.

Lawrence Winters entered the meeting room and saw Edward Foster sitting alone on one side, opposite the director, producer, executive producer, executive director, and the screenwriter along with the crew’s treasurer—a whole crowd of people.
