Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2301: Chapter 2302: Pursuing An Baobei (2)

The throat suddenly choked, the pain fierce. Cold eyes were somewhat red.

Too pained to speak, he said silently in his heart: ”Old man, you broke your promise to me in the last lifetime, do you want to break it again in this one...You promised to live to a hundred years old...”

Just as he thought of this, his tears fell. Then he quickly wiped them away.

He was afraid the old man would wake up and see him feeling miserable like this.

...

When Ning Wuze found out his in-law had such a severe illness, he brought Ning Zihan along to S City Hospital to visit.

Ning Wenze even asked Ning Zihan to go for a match test.

Ning Zihan obediently went.

But coincidentally, that Dr. Qian was Li Junlin’s oldest cousin, whom Ning Zihan had met a few times before. So, after the nurse had drawn his blood and left, he said to Dr. Qian, ”Old cousin, I want to ask you for a favor.”

Li Junlin and Ning Zihan were around the same age, while Dr. Qian was fifteen years older than Li Junlin. Since Ning Zihan and Li Junlin were particularly close, Dr. Qian indeed treated Ning Zihan like a junior, and with a smile said, ”What kind of favor? Tell me, if I can help, I definitely will.”

”It’s just...” Ning Zihan looked around, ensuring no one was listening, then lowered his voice further, ”If my matching is successful, you have to say I didn’t match successfully.”

Dr. Qian immediately put on a serious face, ”If you don’t want to save him, why do the match test?”

Ning Zihan hurriedly explained, ”It’s not that I don’t want to save him; just don’t say my matching succeeded, but if it really did, I’ll secretly donate bone marrow to him.”

Dr. Qian thought for a moment before saying, ”You mean, if you match successfully, you’ll donate bone marrow to him, but you don’t want his family to know it’s from you, right?”

”Hmm.”

”Why do that?” Dr. Qian didn’t understand. ”Isn’t your sister married to his second son? There’s no need to hide it.”

Ning Zihan did this because he didn’t want the Su Family to think differently of him.

Once he indeed succeeded in matching and donated bone marrow to Su Haoyu, the Su Family would surely be grateful to him.

But he didn’t want that, it’s better as it is now.

Without saying all that, Ning Zihan merely replied, ”It’s better this way. Old cousin, just help me with this favor, didn’t you just say you’d help if you could?”

”It’s just that I don’t understand why you’re doing this; I didn’t say I wouldn’t help you. Alright, since you don’t want to say, I’ll respect it, which anyone would, considering how close you are to my frail little cousin.”

”Frail...” Ning Zihan chuckled. ”If Junlin knew, he’d want to hit you.”

”He wouldn’t dare hit me; I’m his oldest cousin.” Dr. Qian laughed too. Then returned to the main topic: ”For now, go back to the hotel and wait for news. The marrow test results should be ready by tomorrow morning. I’ll notify you then.”

”Okay.”

...

The next day, at nine in the morning, Ning Zihan received a call from Dr. Qian.

Dr. Qian seemed really happy and said, ”Zihan, the match report is out, your marrow is indeed suitable. When will you come to the hospital for a check-up and donate marrow to the patient? The sooner the marrow is donated, the better, the patient really can’t afford to wait now.”

What Ning Zihan said yesterday was just precautionary; he didn’t expect to really match successfully. First, he was stunned, then with a hint of joy he said, ”Old cousin, you’re the doctor. I’ll follow your arrangements, just make sure I’m not exposed as the donor.”
