Chapter 2308: Chapter 2309: Pursuing An Baobei (9)

Before they arrived at E City Hospital, An Baobei had already woken up. The anesthesia had worn off, and the wound hurt terribly—she was in pain.

”Hiss—” It hurt so much that An Baobei hadn’t even opened her eyes, yet her face was twisted in pain, and she kept sucking in cold air.

Ning Zihan was sitting by the bedside. Seeing An Baobei waking up and in such pain, he called to her softly and with deep concern, ”Baobei?”

Upon hearing the voice, An Baobei felt it was like Ning Zihan, but thinking Ning Zihan wasn’t that gentle, she thought it wasn’t him. Yet, she still opened her eyes to see who was calling her.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she met Ning Zihan’s deeply concerned gaze, which seemed unfamiliar to her, and she was startled for a moment, almost forgetting the intense pain in her abdomen.

Ning Zihan didn’t think there was anything wrong; seeing An Baobei looking at him blankly, as if confused about her current situation, he quickly said, ”You were stabbed by a kidnapper, remember?”

An Baobei immediately stopped looking at him blankly and responded coldly, ”I remember, it’s just that you seem a bit off.”

Her gaze unconsciously shifted downwards and she noticed his hand was tightly holding hers, which startled her into quickly pulling her hand back. She was very angry as she questioned, ”Why are you holding my hand?! It scared me!”

Although she could now accept shaking hands with the opposite sex, that didn’t mean she could accept holding hands for a long time. Moreover, since the other person was Ning Zihan, she found it even more unacceptable.

So, once she pulled her hand back from Ning Zihan’s, she rubbed it vigorously on the blanket, looking very disgusted at having had her hand held by Ning Zihan for so long.

Ning Zihan saw An Baobei rubbing her hand as though she had touched something dirty, and though he was a bit hurt, he quickly understood and calmly said, ”There’s nothing wrong with me; I just figured some things out.”

”Even if you’ve figured some things out, you can’t just hold my hand like that. Don’t you know I’m very conservative?” An Baobei was still very angry at how tightly he had held her hand earlier. And in her anger, she didn’t feel the wound hurt so much anymore.

”What I’ve figured out has to do with you.”

”Me?” An Baobei stopped rubbing her hand and looked at him in confusion.

Ning Zihan nodded first, then hesitated for a moment before saying, ”An Baobei, I like you.”

”...”

”If you don’t mind, let’s be together.” If it weren’t for what happened today, he wouldn’t have realized how scared he was that something would happen to her, that she would just disappear.

Now, he’s really thought it through; no matter what the future holds, no matter how little he believes in marriage, right now he very much wants to be with her.

”...” An Baobei was silent for a moment longer, then angrily snapped, ”I mind! I mind very much! Ning Zihan, are you messing with me for fun?! Get out, I don’t want you watching over me!”

”I’m not messing with you...”

”You’re not messing with me, yet you say you like me? And want to be together? Is your brain broken?! Who doesn’t know that Ning Zihan despises women more than anything! And I am a woman, Ning Zihan!”

”I despise women, but I don’t despise you.”

”Only a pig would believe you! You’ve made it clear more than once that you can’t stand me! Fine, I also don’t want things to be awkward with Aunt, just go, and I won’t hold it against you this time.” An Baobei was very impatient, unwilling to believe even a punctuation mark from Ning Zihan.
