Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2320: Chapter 2321: Disapproval

Upon hearing An Baobei say she wasn’t angry anymore, An Jing gossipingly asked, ”Are you two getting back together?”

An Baobei immediately retorted, ”Even if I get back together with someone, it won’t be with him! Do I not think he hurt me enough back then?”

An Jing nodded, sighing, ”I chatted with your dad about this today. To be honest, although your dad and I don’t dislike him as much as we used to, we truly don’t want you to fall for him again.”

After all, their beloved daughter had genuinely suffered much from him in the past.

But An Baobei laughed, ”Didn’t dad want him to take responsibility? Why doesn’t he want me to fall for him again now?”

An Jing chuckled, ”Your dad still holds onto some old-fashioned notions from Tianyun, thinking men and women should keep a distance. Since he kissed you, and we can’t just let your dad kill him, your dad naturally came up with this idea. Luckily, later, you and I managed to persuade your dad. Now, your dad thinks that no matter who you’re with, it’s got to be better than being with Ning Zihan. He just won’t approve of Ning Zihan as a son-in-law.”

”I don’t want to fall for Ning Zihan anymore either. Mom, you can reassure dad; Ning Zihan definitely won’t become his son-in-law. I’ve already been hurt by Ning Zihan once; I won’t foolishly let myself be hurt by him again.”

”In the end, it’s all about following your heart. Sometimes, it’s not as simple as wanting to not like someone.”

Hearing this, An Baobei fell silent. Indeed, sometimes wanting to not like someone isn’t enough.

Much like before, she liked Ning Zihan for so long, tried hard to stop liking him but never succeeded. The heart doesn’t follow commands. If Ning Zihan hadn’t gone too far later, she might not have given up so thoroughly.

Previously, she even had a bit of hate for Ning Zihan.

But over time, she understood why Ning Zihan behaved that way, and realized some of the blame should not fall on him, leading her to neither hate nor have any feelings for him now.

Now she wants things to be like before, sitting at the same table with Ning Zihan yet feeling no different than sitting with a stranger.

And she hopes for it to be as she wishes.

At night, after An Jing helped An Baobei get dressed, she headed to the bathroom to shower.

An Baobei didn’t feel like watching TV, so she picked up her phone to play. She had been lying flat for days, her body stiff, but thankfully her mom would occasionally massage her, making her feel a bit more comfortable.

First, she browsed through entertainment news on her phone. After finishing, she logged into Weibo and saw the chat with ’One Person’ was dimmed; clearly, ’One Person’ hadn’t messaged her.

She had known ’One Person’ for a long time, yet in all that time, ’One Person’ had only messaged her once on his own.

An Baobei already got used to ’One Person’ being passive, without feeling anything about it.

Thinking that ’One Person’ Li Junlin is friends with Ning Zihan, and with Ning Zihan suddenly deciding to pursue her, she wondered if Li Junlin knew.

So, she opened the chat with ’One Person’, typing, ”One Person, does Ning Zihan really know you like me?”

On the other side, in the villa, Ning Zihan saw An Baobei suddenly ask this question. He thought carefully about why she would ask this but couldn’t figure it out, so he typed back, ”Why do you ask?”
