COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Don’t have to ask for Top three, but at least can get a ranking.

But current situation is they had just got off the ship and were about to go to the first check-in area, but Onodera sprained her left leg.

So, 3 of them had to stop temporarily.

Suzune chose to camp near the river where there was a guaranteed water source.

Although the tent was set up, score was still 0. So, Sakura must be a little anxious too.

But Suzune thought about it, followed Airi to the tent.

’Because all three of us are girls, tent we chose is a tent with 2,500 supply points suitable for 3-4 people. When I opened the curtain, I saw Onodera-san putting a 3rd layer of socks on her injured left foot. No one had any bandages in their hands, so Onodera-san looked like she wanted to fix her injured leg first, and then continue action together later.....’

“.....” Suzune felt her thoughts were a bit not what she expected, and gone naughty.

“You don’t have to take exam for 3 days, today, tomorrow, and the day after. As for the points, Sakura-san and I will go. Our goal is basically not even in the top three. And in the upcoming special exams, you will definitely be useful. Focus on the special exam later. But your injury isn’t that serious, so we can’t let you give up yet. Because if it’s just Sakura-san and I, and we both have to give up, then three of us will be at the bottom with 0 points.”

Forehead...

This made Onodera stunned.

“What’s going on?” Suzune doesn’t know actually what this girl is useful for, because you just injured yourself when it’s time to shine!

“Hmm...” Onodera who noticed the changes in her expression, said quickly, “How should I put it? I feel like you’ve changed, Horikita-san. I almost thought you would force me to continue taking exam.”

This statement is really an exaggeration.

But Onodera almost believed it. So, she was really surprised that Horikita actually let her rest and didn’t blame her.

Suzune’s tone has changed.

She and Onodera had more contact during last year’s sports. During the training, both had to do three-legged race.

But at that time, Suzune was faster than Onodera, so coordination between the two was terrible.

And it is unbelievable that Horikita actually thinks that slow runners have to cooperate with fast.

Very inhumane.

But now...It’s surprising that Horikita Suzune actually thinks from a human perspective.

“But,” Onodera probably felt that Horikita’s attitude had softened a lot, so she was curious about a question.

Onodera is a girl with decent looks.

But in a class full of pretty girls, her appearance was immediately outshined, so she felt a little inferior.

’Even when chatting and talking to girls, I try hard to come up with topics to increase my presence....’ Recently, everyone has been discussing a topic.

That is...

“Horikita-san, now that Hikigaya-kun has gone to Class D, will your relationship be affected?”

“???” Suzune looked towards Airi for a normal explanation.

“...Onodera-san wants to know about you dating Hikigaya-kun.”

“Dating?” However, this made Suzune frown, “What dating? Are you saying that I’m dating Hikigaya Hachiman?”

“Yeah, don’t you guys always stick together? But now, he has gone to another class. Kushida-chan said that if you are in a relationship and there is a sense of distance, you will break up soon. So you are not anxious at all?” Onodera’s eyes seemed to be very grateful towards Airi.

But Horikita Suzune tilted her head.

’Communication. Are you speaking human language? Why do people say I am dating Hikigaya Hachiman? Obviously, both me and him think that high school romance is a waste of time, and right time should be spent on more important things. High school is the time when one’s brain is most open when studying. After the age of 25, people’s intelligence and attention span begins to decline. Therefore, studying hard in high school is the right thing to do. So other girls at this age only think about love and the like? No wonder they study so poorly. But, if I deny it here, then will Hachiman also get into trouble, for example, being harassed by someone?’

Suzune knows that Hikigaya-kun also hopes to study hard during his school years.

’If I admit it, then it would feel weird to be with Hachiman again.’ For a moment, Suzune found this problem was much more difficult than going to designated area to punch in and earn points.

At the same time.

Below the river section.

“Ryuen, aren’t you taking this a bit too far?”

Ryuen and his friends did not participate in check-in at first designated area in the morning.

He took Ishizaki, Katsuragi and went directly to pick up Kito.

Then, after participating in a 5-minute fire-making course together, decided to set up camp.

The camping site was chosen to be near the river, because water was very convenient for everything.

This was Ryuen’s experience in surviving in the wild.

Looking at the small fire that had already been lit, and then at six frogs that Ryuen was roasting, Katsuragi found that he still couldn’t accept it.

Kito, who had already formed a team, quietly took out instant noodles and started making them.

Ishizaki ate the biscuits calmly.

As someone who often followed Ryuen, he was quite familiar with his style.

But he felt a little psychologically stressed when he saw the frog, so he ate the biscuits to fill his stomach.

As everyone knows, Class A of Grade 2 opened a small shop at the starting point.

As classmates and a seeded group aiming for second or even third place, Ryuen and his team need supplies, so Sakayanagi will definitely arrange people to share everything.

So, can replenish supplies as long as you return to the starting point.

“It will take most of the day to get back to starting point now. And we are a group of four, and may not be able to get the extra reward by checking in first every day. So what you have to do is to choose the appropriate subject and then brush up your score. As for other aspects, we will naturally deal with them as simply as possible. At the same time, you need to maintain your physical strength. The exam period is 14 days, and most people will be almost exhausted in three or four days. Eating fresh meat can provide high-quality protein and strength. After all, this is a long battle, So even if we have some shortcomings, definitely have the advantage in terms of physical fitness in the wild.”

Krrkk! Krkkk!

“So I predict that after a week, many people will respond passively and try to get by without scores reaching 0. I think that’s when we can score points smoothly.”

’So this is why Ryuen uses local ingredients to roast frogs? Hmm.’ For the first time, Katsuragi felt pressure to contribute to class.

“And Katsuragi, you still owe me so many points, you’re not thinking of not paying me back at all, are you?”

“....” Katsuragi.

This time, he was arranged to team up with Ryuen as the seed group.

Sakayanagi said that if he could get second place in class, he would be given an additional reward of 1 million, and if he could get third place, he would be given an additional reward of 500,000 personal points.

It is very important for him who still has a debt of more than 3 million.

He also worked hard in this exam and got an additional card, so if he can get second or third place, points he gets can be doubled.

That’s a good harvest too.

But prerequisite is that he must get a ranking.

As Katsuragi is a novice in outdoor survival, he can only follow command of the veteran Ryuen.

“Also, the second designated area for today will be announced in 10 minutes. Do you want to check in on an empty stomach?” Ryuen urged again, he was hell bent on destroying the will power.

“....” Katsuragi had no solution. So, he started trying to eat roasted frogs.

???

However, after taking only two bites, Katsuragi’s eyes widened slightly, because the taste seemed to be quite good.

“Ryuen, you actually have some cooking skills....”

“…”

Snort! Snort!

Ryuen thought it was okay.

After forming a team, there will be disagreements, which will affect the work, but now Katsuragi has lost opportunity to raise disagreements, so he can only listen to command from now on.

When it comes to winning people’s hearts, Ryuen is still good.

Hachiman and his companions landed on island on morning of the 8th, and it is already 11th.

It was hot on the 8th, a little hotter on the 9th, but it started to rain on 10th, and now it’s 11th. It’s cloudy.

When Hachiman and others walked out of the tent, ground was still wet.

On afternoon of the first day, couldn’t check scores and rankings, but got to do it during evening.

Just like what Hachiman said about Ibuki, checking scores usually involves paying attention to one’s own scores, but on the other hand, it also involves caring.

And for Hikigaya-kun…there is naturally a group that he follows.

For this exam, Class D was assigned 2 seeded groups.

One of them is must-win team of Ryuen + Ishizaki + Katsuragi + Kito.

Aim for second or third place.

As for 1st place...

Koenji Rokusuke, Albert Yamada.

Ryuen’s group ignored it at first, but Koenji was very strong.

Except for 70 points on first day, the score increased by a constant 80 points starting from second day.

Firmly occupying 1st place.

The energy of ordinary people can still be demonstrated on the first day.

If you don’t exercise regularly the next day, you will immediately feel your muscles complaining.

The condition will not improve on third day, but on fourth, although it will improve, Hachiman guess not many people can ignore the groaning of their muscles.

So, when they went to first designated area to check in this morning, it took Hachiman and his friends 50 minutes to reach, but they actually got second place with extra reward.

In addition to 1 point each person gets for checking in, an additional 5 points are given.

Although their team worked half hard and half slacked off, they still managed to get 33rd place.

It is conceivable that with 10 days left, the enthusiasm of students will be low, especially for first graders, who have never experienced the life of surviving on a deserted island.

“So, what are we going to do today?”

After finishing check-in for first area of the day, Ibuki looked at Hachiman, waiting for his orders.

Ibuki’s brain isn’t very good. She can do whatever you ask her to do, but it’s painful for her to think.

“Well—” Hachiman did her job.

’Chabashira-sensei had moved her tent and left the area yesterday morning. So, couldn’t continue to follow her around and ask to look after luggage or take supplies for free. There is no benefit in staying any longer....’

“It’s fourth day of exams, and the average student’s stamina has dropped. While our condition isn’t too bad, we should return to our starting point to replenish our supplies.”

The 5 bottles of mineral water each of them brought had long been used up.

However, because they have always stayed by Chabashira-sensei’s side, on the one hand, project is right at his doorstep, and on the other hand, also waiting for opportunities.

Because there must be other students who are attracted by topic.

So they bought a water purifier directly from students who came to take English exam at a high price, so water used in the past two days was filtered through purifier.

The river water, took was running water, so wanted to see if there was anything ready-made.

Found the frog, even more than fish.

It turns out that eating frogs is not an option.

Moreover, this island is different from last year which had heavy signs of human intervention, and even a large amount of supplies were given away for free.

But this year’s treatment is not so good.

Yesterday he and Komiya tried to catch fish, but it was difficult to catch with bare hands and neither of them had much experience.

Also, there was not enough equipment, not even a fishing net, and only things they could catch were frogs.

Hikigaya-kun can’t bring himself to eat this kind of thing.

The dry food they carried with them included dried meat, but that was minimum amount for one meal a day.

However, this kind of replenishment will not give body much strength, and physical cannot be maintained.

Then you can probably only maintain score in designated area every day.

Therefore, when Ryuen first made this list of supplies and shared it with students in the class, he probably didn’t have any hope.

It really is... As long as group survives, that’s all that matters.
